I have the perfect snowboard carrier option for you with the SeaSucker Ski and Snowboard Carrier - Vacuum Cup Mounted part # 298-SK2425. This carrier will carry 2 snowboards or 4 sets of skis with poles. The carrier does not require a roof rack because it suctions to the roof of the Subaru with really strong vacuum cups. I know it seems like the carrier wouldn't stay on the roof but the cups have a pull strength of 210 lbs per cup. When SeaSucker was here they demonstrated how strong the system is and it's not going to come off the roof without releasing the pressure. The best thing about the carrier is it's easy to take on and off the roof for storage when not in use so it's super convenient too.
