Ideally you'd install the SeaSucker Monkey Bars Roof Rack # 298-SX6000 on either side of the sunroof you have on your 1996 LS 400 or just in front. The cups of this kit are 6 inches in diameter which you might be able to fit to the outsides of your sunroof but you'd have to measure the area to be absolutely certain. Each one of the vacuum cups of this kit is capable of holding 210 lbs vertically so it would do a great job carrying a cargo box like you mentioned. Temperature changes would not affect the performance of it either. As long as the seal was made in warmer temperatures it would hold up just fine going to a colder climate according to our contacts at SeaSucker.

The cups of this kit are 6 inches in diameter which you might be able to fit to the outsides of your sunroof but you'd have to measure the area to be absolutely certain.
Each one of the vacuum cups of this kit is capable of holding 150 lbs vertically so it would do a great job carrying a cargo box like you mentioned. The pull strength on each cup is 210 pounds so it can resist wind and horizontal pressure. Temperature changes would not affect the performance of it either. As long as the seal was made in warmer temperatures it would hold up just fine going to a colder climate according to our contacts at SeaSucker.
