When heavy cargo or a trailer pushes down the back end, steering and braking can feel off. These SumoSprings helper springs add up to 1,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They help your factory suspension handle the extra weight so your front tires stay planted, headlight aim stays true, and handling feels confident even on long hauls.
Not every haul weighs the same. These microcellular urethane springs use progressive load control to match the weight you’re carrying. With lighter loads they compress easily for soft engagement and a smoother ride, while heavier loads make them firm up for stronger support. The result is a balanced ride that absorbs bumps and keeps sway in check without needing adjustments or maintenance.

When corners, crosswinds, or off-center loads try to throw you around, each spring works on its own to keep its side of the vehicle steady. That independent action helps reduce body roll in sharp turns and keeps things level even when one side carries more weight than the other. You’ll feel more control through curves and less rocking when pulling into uneven driveways or job sites.
These springs are made from high-density microcellular urethane that stands up to harsh conditions. They resist abrasion, oils, road salts, and UV rays, and they perform in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F. Because they compress vertically with minimal side expansion, they fit tight spaces without rubbing nearby parts. And since there’s no air pressure to check or lines to run, they stay maintenance-free once installed.
Adding suspension support shouldn’t mean tearing the truck apart. This kit includes two jounce-style springs that install with a simple no-drill setup using existing mounting points. Once in place, you’re ready for a more stable ride without spending time managing air lines or fine-tuning adjustments.

Great product! Bought these for my 2000 7.3 f250. Didn't want something that is constantly active like ras or hellwig since my leaf springs are new and rated for 4k pounds. Installed these in 1 hr super simple only hard part was the factory bump stop on driver side was a pain. Didn't install the puck they give due to height of truck and I knew more or less at what point I wanted them engaging. I haul cattle to shows/ auctions or between pastures with my 24ft big bend and these things actually provided a smoother ride in my truck loaded then unloaded.they do a great job with the added support and are better than an overload spring with handling sway and providing a smooth ride loaded. Just wish I could use the 3k pound rated ones on this truck and my dually but doesn't fit if you have a gooseneck sadly so will probably have to go with timbs on the drw. Over all great product can't speak to longevity but solid for the time being. And customer service with this company is excellent if you have a question or problem they're on top of it...hope they pay them as well as the reputation they're building for them.
Put these on a Jeep Gladiator to haul a motorcycle to Sturgis. Kept everything level, good ride and stability. Highly recommend.
Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.
Love them! The truck barely even squatted, had two dirt bikes, and a generator in the bed as well! It handles the bumps and sway great
2025 Promaster 2500 159” wheelbase. Backed the van on couple 2” X 6 “ easier sliding under. Sprayed PB Blaster on top of bumper spring, using a 16” Channel Lock, easy off with the old. At that time I jacked the rear end to allow clearance. One side at a time. Took longer for set up then the job. I used the long bolt with two spacers. Have not drove yet, though looking for great results.
I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.
These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.
They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.
Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.
This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.
It's not the best thing to do but for those loads when you need a little something extra it's works just fine.
They really make a difference. I have a truck load of tools and was it really noisy hitting bumps etc. They are a must have!
These have been exactly what we needed. The rear suspension on our new Xterra was a little looser than we liked for towing our camper. Over larger bumps we were bottoming out. The Sumos have the Xterra right where we need it to be.
I ordered a set of SumoSprings for the back of my 2013 Nissan NV3500. The service was great and the product is exactly what I needed for the occasional towing I do. Many thanks!
Exactly as advertised, they work great! Only wish it came with replacement hardware to install as the old ones were rusted and had to be broken off. Not a fault of etrailer but would be an additional bonus if they also provided 4 new bolts and lock washers just in case. I’ve read a lot of people having the same issues with the existing equipment.
Easy installation, didn't effect the ride when no load on the hitch
Nice people at etrailer. Order came quickly. Product is of high quality and went on with ease. The Summo Springs rest on the axle, so it has made the ride a little stiff where it bucks on certain bumps, but it prevents bottoming and handle weight very well. It also prevents leaning in the curves. I will probably cut of the bottom 2 inches of each spring to get the results/ride that i was looking for....which was to prevent bottoming and provide stable and support as the load gets heavy.
I installed Sumo Springs on our 06 Xterra right after we bought our Casita 17' trailer. The back of the X squatted a bit more than I liked. I had also noticed before some tendency to bottom out if the car was full of people and stuff. These ingenious devices are a perfect solution for me! They are about 3/4" clear of being engaged with the axle when unloaded, so the ride is not overly affected, but progressively take up some of the weight when the back end starts coming down with load. It now sits very nicely with the trailer connected, no weight distributing hitch and stuff in the back, and no more bottoming. We've put a good number of miles on the X in the last year, towing and not towing, and they are still doing the job.
I should note, the back of my Xterra is lifted about an inch with AAL springs. If that were not the case, the Sumo Springs would be engaged all the time. That will vary with vehicle.
I will also note that they are non-adjustable, unlike airbags. I kinda like that, I didn't want to mess with adjusting air pressure and such. But once they do start kicking in as one or both wheels travel, they do stiffen it up quite a bit. I mean, there's no way around that; you can't take load without stiffening the suspension. As such I think they inhibit upward axle articulation a bit when 4-wheeling, but for us that's not a big deal. Since they do not connect to the axle, they don't affect downward articulation at all.
The pics are shortly after installation, one with the car unloaded, and two with trailer and gear loaded up.
2009 Chevy Colorado 4x4. Leaf springs were getting a bit weak and $600+ to replace with a set of overload springs, so I found this. Even empty, a rough road would knock your fillings out of your teeth, so I thought I would take a chance on these.
I was a bit worried about breaking a bolt getting the old bump stops off since I live in rust country and the truck is 10 years old. But came right off and the new ones installed quickly. I had removed wheels since I was also putting on a new set of Bilstein shocks on the rear.
The urethane seems to be a pretty tough material that should hold up well. I did need to jack up the body of the truck about a half inch to provide the necessary clearance since the Sumosprings are significantly taller than the factory bumpstops.
Even with a 1000 lb load, the truck rides smoothly over the worst of bumps, without the teeth-rattling "ker-chunks" of driving over a rough road.
Delivery was fast, as usual with e-trailer.com.
I am considering a set for my Chevy 3500 to tame the rear end on that when traveling unloaded...
