Features to know about

Keep the Front End Level and Confident: 1,250-lb Support at 50-Percent Compression

When heavy gear or accessories push down on the front end, steering and braking can feel off. These SumoSprings Solo helper springs add up to 1,250 lbs of front suspension support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and steady. They pick up the extra weight so your factory suspension doesn’t have to, helping improve control and keeping your headlights aimed where they should.

Smooth Out Bumps and Vibration: Progressive Load Control

Road chatter and uneven pavement can make the front end bounce. The microcellular urethane design compresses easily for lighter loads and stiffens as weight increases. That progressive load control cushions bumps and absorbs shocks, giving you a smoother ride whether you’re carrying heavy gear up front or running light.

Comparison showing installed SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs on a vehicle’s front axle, with one spring uncompressed and the other fully compressed to demonstrate load support and leveling performance.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When a curve or a gust tries to push you around, these springs react independently on each side to keep the vehicle planted. That separate movement helps balance off-center loads and cuts down on body roll through corners so steering feels stable even on uneven ground.

Built Tough for Real-World Conditions: Maintenance-Free Construction

Each spring is made from high-density microcellular urethane that resists oil, salt, and UV damage and works in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F. The vertical compression design limits side expansion, so the springs fit safely into tight spaces without rubbing against nearby parts. There’s nothing to inflate or monitor—just simple, maintenance-free load support that installs with no drilling required.

Video Transcript for Comprehensive Review: SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs

Today we're going to take a look at the SuperSprings Heavy Duty SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs, this is for the front axle. Has a 2500lbs weight capacity. Now, this is a custom-fit part. It is designed to fit many different vehicles, so what we like to recommend is to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application. Now, these helper springs will upgrade your vehicle's front suspension, for improved driver control and comfort. Supports heavy front-end loads to keep your vehicle level, it'll help to absorb any bumps and shocks, and it'll help minimize sway.

It does use a progressive load control, which means the springs compress according to the weight of the cargo. Lighter loads, the springs will compress easily at first for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. Then, if the load is heavier, the springs will compress by as much as 80% for support. Now, these springs are designed to work independently from each other, to compensate for off-center loads and reduce body roll during sharp turns. It is made of a durable, high-density microcellular urethane. It is designed to work in temperatures from a -25F to 200F.

It is also designed to resist damage that can be caused by oils, road salts, and UV rays. Has a minimal lateral expansion, so the springs will compress vertically instead of to the sides, so they aren't easily damaged when operating in tight spaces. They are maintenance-free: There's no tubing to run or air pressure to monitor like with air springs. It's a simple no-drill installation. Comes with the 2 Jounce-style springs that are included.

This part is made in the USA. Comes with a nice set of detailed instructions that show you how to install it on your vehicle. A few specs on this: The weight capacity on them is, at 50% compression would be 2500lbs. This is designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order. A note I want to let you know is that the SumoSprings will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity, so you do not want to exceed the manufacturer's weight limit of your vehicle. That should do it for the review on the SuperSprings Heavy Duty SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for the Front Axle, with a 2,500lbs weight capacity..

2019 Chevrolet Express Van
Installed Sumo Springs on my 2019 Chevy 4500 motorhome, I was looking for ride improvement without breaking the bank. These days so many products are marketed well but never match the performance that was promised. That is not the case with Sumo Springs!!! I am very pleased with the ride improvement, sway is gone when transitioning from different levels of pavement and the shock of bumps is 50% better!! Installed myself on front and back in about 1 hour, front ended up about 3/8” higher after a couple days, got front end alignment done but didn’t need any adjustment. Finished a 400 mile road day today and my wife and I are very pleased. Excellent product!!

Purchased for my 2019 Class A Chevy Express 4500. Shipping was very fast and top notch customer service! I haven’t installed them yet but the springs look to be of high quality. Will follow-up with another review once installed.

I have a 08 Chevy 3500 RV. Chevy used an inferior metal for the coil springs for. Few years and they sagged and we’re riding on the bump stops. While I was changing the coils anyway I figured I would add the Sumos. Ride is a little stiffer but still smooth. Handles better in turns and feels like more control. While some of the change is the new coil springs I believe there would be more bounce without the Sumos. Would definitely do again.

Oh my gosh, what a difference. No more swaying in the wind!
The front stock ones were so beat up, look at the difference.

I previously added Sumo springs to rear axel. They really help stabilize towing our heavy camper. I then decided to go ahead and front suspension factory bump stops with these. Drivability only got better, I really like what adding SumoSprings did for my Chevy 3500 HD.

Running a 2017 chev 4500 cutaway box truck. Helped out a lot with front load control, sway and clearance. Raised front around 1.5". So far so good!

I am not sure they are worth the price and an option should have been offered to replace the two on each side instead of assuring only one is needed All my questions were answered and my calls were returned

2017 GMC Savana Van
I installed these on my 2017 GMC Savana 2500. I was contemplating heavy duty shocks, but dont really have an easy place to swap those out. If you drive a Savana or Express, you've probably experience the front end "float". I'm not sure why the suspension is so soft on these work vehicles. These have made a huge difference in the ride quality. I now feel like I'm driving a 3/4 ton vehicle now, but not to where it is unpleasant or overly stiff. The front feels much more connected to the vehicle and doesn't bounce or have that floating feeling anymore. On rougher roads, you don't feel like you're being tossed around in the cabin. Were these the cheaper option to shocks? No, but not by much. I will say that they take a little more to install than just popping out the old bump stops and popping these in. They recommend placing a piece of wood between the control arm and the insert, and lowering the vehicle to seat them. Problem is, there isnt enough space between them to do that. I ended up removing one front wheel at a time, prying the old bump stop out with a long flathead screwdriver, working the new stops into place and driving the tops into place with a wide blunt cold chisel as to not damage the stop itself. As I said, a little more labor intensive than anticipated, but we'll worth the effort. If you're looking at these and tired of your van feeling like a boat up front, just do it. I'm glad I did.

2012 Chevrolet Express Van
I bought these helper springs for my 2012 Chevy Express van to help control the porpoising I was experiencing when towing. The ride is much more controlled now so the springs did their job. The reason for 3 stars is according to the instructions, this should have been an easy installation. The suspension was supposed to hang down far enough to make it simple to put the springs in place. Well, apparently no one had actually installed these springs on an Express van before, the suspension does not hang down that far, and I had to really compress these springs to get them installed. On top of that, the base of these springs is way bigger than the OEM springs, so getting them locked into place is a chore. Installing took way longer and was quite difficult, but they do the job.

No brainer replacement for factory bump stops. Raised the front end of my Class C MH (Chevy Chassis) about 1/4", much better "feel" over bumps. Easier ride over bridge transitions on the interstates. Reduced the porpoising quite a bit!

Ram 4500
These springs made a noticeable difference in reducing sway on my Chevrolet 4500 class c motor home. I would buy them again.

I’ve bought a number of products from this company. They ship promptly and complete. Great service.

  • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2021 Chevrolet Express 4500 Cutaway Motorhome
For front and rear suspension enhancement on a Chevrolet Express 4500 I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSF-204-54 and # SSR-206-54. The SumoSprings will help absorb bumps and shocks as well as minimize sway and giving you a smoother ride overall. They have progressive load control and work independently to help reduce body roll and compensate for off-center loads. These durable helper springs are made of a high-density microcellular urethane and are maintenance-free. I...

  • Suspension Enhancement Option For 2020 Chevy Express 4500 Cutaway Motorhome
We do have an option for suspension enhancement for your motorhome on a 2020 Chevy Express 4500 cutaway chassis, but the SuperSprings SSA245-2 won't fit since you do not have the top overload spring, as they are designed to install on top of the spring. So instead, I recommend another option, which are SumoSprings, with the correct fit for your RV being the following: - Rear Axe: SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-206-54 - Front Axle: SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs #...

  • SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for Front Axle of 2018 GMC Sierra 3500
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Front Axle # SSF-204-54 come as a pair; if you wanted four of these springs you would need to order two kits. As for the 2,500 lb weight rating, that is the pair of springs. What it means is that these springs will be 50 percent compressed with 2,500 lbs of weight on your front axle. I have added links to video reviews of these helper springs to check out as well.

  • What Front and Rear Anti-Sway Bar Fit a 2023 Chevy Express Van 3500 Cutaway?
Hi Ramy, We don't currently have a front anti-sway bar available for a 2023 Chevy Express Van 3500 cutaway, and I wasn't able to find one on any manufacturer's sites either. The only option may be to add some helper springs to the front axle to help reduce sag and sway. Something like the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSF-204-54 would be a great option. They're rated for 1,250lbs of support, install without any installation needed, and once they're on will help reduce...
