When you’ve got weight behind you—a trailer, hitch rack, or a bed full of gear—rear sag can throw off your steering and braking. These Coil SumoSprings slide right between the coils on your rear suspension to help support that extra load. The microcellular polyurethane foam inside each insert cushions and stiffens progressively as weight increases, keeping your ride level and the handling predictable. You get the load support you need without changing your vehicle’s weight-carrying capacity or exceeding manufacturer limits.
Every bump, dip, or washboard stretch gets absorbed by these wedge-shaped inserts. Their inner core of microcellular polyurethane foam compresses gradually, soaking up road shock when loaded down and easing up when running light. That means less bounce, less rear-end sway, and a more comfortable ride whether you’re towing to the campsite or heading home empty.
Unlike air bags that need hoses, fittings, and pressure checks, these Coil SumoSprings require no air lines or upkeep. Just jack up the rear end so the coils extend, then slip each spring between the loops. Once installed, they stay put with no adjustments needed. You’ll have solid load support in place without worrying about leaks or monitoring PSI.
These helper springs are made to last through seasons of towing and hauling. The dense microcellular polyurethane resists abrasion, oil, road salt, and UV rays. It stays flexible through extreme temperatures and keeps performing trip after trip. With a 3" overall height and a 1-3/4" inside groove height that trims to fit your coil diameter, they’re ready for long-term use with zero maintenance required.

Sumo Springs took the sag and roll right out of my 2020 Expedition while towing. It now feels more safe and stable while on the highway and while cornering.
Not as easy to install as noted in the documentation; Otherwise, they are performing as advertised. I have not lost the ride quality yet I noticed a difference pulling our fully loaded trailer with the Jeep or the bikes. Much better handling. I would have preferred air bags, but these are doing the job.
Installation was a little challenging, but once I figured out the trick to get the spring installed the installation became easier. The springs off set 4 passengers and two bicycles that we also added with a hitch to our Honda Fit.

The Sumo Springs were a little challenging to install on my Honda fit but was able to get them installed. The Sumo Springs were installed in conjunction with the Draw-tite hitch and Swagman bike rack to level out rear of car with to ebikes installed. The sumo springs handles the roll and pitch during lane changes and turns.
Junk. this only worked for a few weeks. First tow was great, but the SumoSprings slowly worked their way down. Now they don't do anything. I now have to try to zip tie them back to the top to see if they will still work. I wish I had bought something else because I don't want to have to maintaining this by jacking up my van and pushing it up every time I want to tow.

I am sorry to hear that! I haven't ever come across these sliding out of position before...What vehicle do you have these on?
really stiffened up a 2015 Toyota Highlander. may get a set for the front. easier to install than I thought it would be.

These sumo springs have helped out my 2021 Ford Expedition Max in our frequent towing of our 29’ Imagine travel trailer. Before installation, the ride while towing was a little “squishy” due to the independent rear suspension on the vehicle, but now that these are on the rear coils, the ride while towing is much more planted and firm. I was worried that this would affect the ride quality when not towing, but the same soft comfortable ride is still there as prior to the installation.

After a year of use and thousands of miles towing with these helper springs, they are still working great.
I tow a 32ft travel trailer with my 2006 Ford Expedition. I am not over my max tow limit but I am close to it. while towing even with my weight distribution hitch I felt the vehicle had too much front lift and too much rear squat for my liking. After looking around and not finding a lot of towing accessories for my vehicle I found the Sumo Coil Springs and decided to give them a try. Install was pretty easy and I did remove my wheels to give me more room to work. after installing the Sumo Springs I found that stock ride height had increased by about 1/2" to 3/4" in the rear and the ride quality had not been realy changed. After hooking up my travel trailer I now have an acceptable rear squat of about 1 1/2" and the front lift is only 1/2" and the trailer tows great.

Hello Patrick, I still thing the springs are great. They seem to still function today the same as they did a year ago. The only thing I had to do to the was install better and more zip ties on the springs than what came with them in the box, to better hold them in their proper position.Thanks for the follow up.
Did exactly what I needed it to do.
Luckly I am supper strong to put this on.
Recommendation: Read the instructions, I did and took 1hr maybe. Also, use a dull wide screwdriver and slowly work around the coil.
Installed on the rear of a 2018 Expedition, I pull a travel trailer thought these might help out. Very easy to install. Raised the vehicle about a 1/4” in the rear.
This is a great product and very easy to install. It doesn't completely fix my problem with bottoming out (I tow a very heavy trailer with a vehicle not well suited for it) but it makes it better, and that's all I expect at this price point. Etrailers deserves 5 stars though.
I installed on a 2014 Ford Expedition EL. I should have done this last year, it made it handle like it was new again both loaded down and when it was just me driving. It also retained the stock ride feeling with no harsh or roughness to speak of. For the folks that have a strut style rear suspension and put any kind if weight in their suv's and/or pull a tralier, this is a must. Also, no mentionable increase in ride height.
They work well. Reduce rear squat with the trailer on, and help with rear bounce. Would recommend if pulling trailer that has some tongue weight associated with it.

They work great. Also added the Helwig rear stabilizer bar and Bilsteins 5100s to the rear. Tows the heavy boat nicely.

Pretty easy to install. During my first drive with them installed I heard a lot of thumping even over small bumps, but it seemed to work itself out on the second drive. I think it helps level out the slight sag in the rear of the car, and the front wheel drive which used to slip frequently when towing gets better traction. Be aware that for a 2005 Highlander, there are no holes or zip ties, and you can't get the Helpers to stay much higher than the lowest coil. I think them sliding down is what eliminated the thumping.

Its been a year and they are still working fine. I hear the occasional thump, but they have definitely helped and are worth the money.
They do what they are supposed to do, and installation is very easy. A great boost for the rear of our Toyota SUV. Worth the money for these. The rear feels a little stiffer, but that's what they do. It gives us the help we need when we tow our travel trailer.
I put these on my 2016 Expedition EL Ecoboost after buying a travel trailer. The truck had plenty of power but as anyone could exped the IRS Sucks under heavy load and our first trip from east bay to Anehime made everyone sick from all the sway. I'm here to tell you this is the best $80 I have every spent upgrading any of my vehicles. I have since sold that trailer and now tow a heavier 28' TT and it pulls amazing. surprisingly it only affects the spring rate at fuller compression which is great for towing. Normal driving with no trailer feels exactly the same.
About all I can say for these is that they did raise the back of my Expedition EL about a 1/2". However, they didn't stay in place for even a year. As far as helping the ride of the truck with the travel trailer, I *think* it helped, but I really don't know if it is anything more than the placebo effect. I removed them before having Bilstein 5100 series shocks installed, with the spring collar set to raise .4", which did make a noticeable, positive difference in the way the truck handled when towing.
I received the Sumo Springs Coil Helper yesterday and was able to install it in less than an hour on my 2007 Odyssey. May be even quicker if I had a better jack(i had to lift one side at a time). My van now has raised significantly. With a three Mountain bike rack, camping gear loaded with the roof box, the van's rear end was too sagged. I gained close to two inches after installation. I do notice a difference in the cushioning, but that is very marginal. Overall, I am very happy about this product and would recommend if your car's rear end needs a lift/ support. Installation was very simple with the hand soap applied. I will do a follow-up review after few weeks when I put a few hundred miles for my summer trips.
I have a gladiator sport max tow with overland setup and bed box, after adding these I no longer have sway issues and feels tighter on howay
It s a good thing I wasn't planning to tow a big trailer with my 2025 Sienna XLE AWD! Even with just a cargo tray with minimal contents it sags too much in back. One option was to install the rear springs from a Woodlands Edition, but the Coil SumoSprings are cheaper and easier to install. Install was easier than the manual implied and it seems to be working great, although I haven't tested it much yet. I might add the WE spings later, but these will work with those as well.
I had for a week now and so far so good. Ride without any load is a little stiff similar feeling to car with sport suspension and with a low profile tire. A little less comfortable but not that bad. With a heavy load that's when this comes to work. The height is almost same as without the load and the right is really good. The installation of this is very easy. The only thing is the groove is a little bit too wide for the spring.
5 minute install with no tools beyond a jack and a bottle of dish soap. Ride remains unchanged when not towing. Big help with sag when pulling a 27' cuddy cabin ( just under 9000lbs) with my '21 Expedition Max FX4

Installed the CSS-1168R Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper spacers on a 2011 Honda Ridgeline 4 wheel drive rear springs. Installation took about 45 minutes including removal of tires. Once spacer was started the installation was easy.
Zip ties were a little more difficult because of the dust strut covers installed by Honda.

Excellent product. Holding up great. When towing my camper, the squat is less the 1. Much better then before when 3 was the norm.
I could not place the SumoSprings in the middle of the coil springs to start installation. Rather I had to start lower on the coil springs, where the spacing is wider, and then slide the SumoSprings up to the middle.
I used a screwdriver run into the holes for that purpose to help slide the SumoSprings to the middle of the coil springs. Otherwise, the installation went well. There seems to be less squat in the rear of my '04 Highlander when my camping trailer is attached.

I'm not sure if this picture does it justice, but the before pictire with the boat covered, there is noticeable sag in the rear. Dealt woth that for a year. Installed the coil sumosprings helper yesterday and she's level now.
Tip, when installing on an older vehicle with rusted springs, take some extra time to sand the springs until the feel smooth. Do that and the dish soap and they go on pretty easy.
