Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Heavy Loads: 5,000-lb Load-Leveling Capacity

When the rear sags under a trailer or a bed full of gear, control and safety take a hit. Firestone Ride-Rite air helper springs add up to 5,000 lbs of load-leveling support between the frame and suspension. By keeping your vehicle level, they improve steering response, braking stability, and headlight alignment when hauling or towing. The double-convoluted air bags reduce strain on your rear suspension so you can move heavy loads without bottoming out or permanent sagging in the leaf springs.

Fine-Tune the Ride for Every Trip: Adjustable from 5 psi to 100 psi

Every load is different, and these air springs let you match your suspension to it. With adjustable air pressure from 5 to 100 psi, you can dial in firmness for towing or let out air for a smoother unloaded ride. Manual inflation valves let you adjust each side individually to level off-center loads and keep handling stable. The system absorbs road shock and softens contact between axle and frame so your ride stays controlled on any surface.

Built Tough for Long-Term Use: Reinforced Rubber and Rolled-Crimp Seals

Durability matters when your suspension carries real weight. Each Firestone spring uses four layers of reinforced rubber with a braided wire girdle that shapes the double-convoluted design for high burst strength. Corrosion-resistant metal end plates are secured with rolled crimp seals that hold tight under pressure. The result is dependable, leak-free performance that stands up to years of hauling and towing duty.

Designed for Straightforward Installation: Complete Kit with Custom Brackets

Installing extra support shouldn’t mean complicated fabrication. The Ride-Rite kit comes with custom-fit brackets, air springs, hardware, air line, and separate valves for manual inflation—everything needed for setup between the frame and rear suspension. Drilling may be required on some applications, but most installs are clean and direct. Once in place, the system works seamlessly with optional switches, gauges, or compressors (sold separately) for quick pressure adjustments right from your cab.

by:

The airbags bolted onto the frame and springs as expected.
Time will tell how they will last.

by:

This is my 3rd set. I have a truck camper that fits on my Nissan Frontier and would not be without them. The only drawback is they ride a little stiff with no load. Great product!

by:

The bags work great as designed and marketed. Much easier to pull my travel trailer now. Only draw back is the truck is even more nose down, so now I'm saving to level the front up. Very pleased with the service I got. Bought one thing over the phone and when scheduling, the fellow figured out it wasn't exactly what i had in mind.

by:

Install was straight forward with the videos on etrailer. I installed them to level out my truck while towing my camper. It made the ride alot softer and enjoyable

by:

Installed on 2018 Frontier 4x4.. DS top mount kinda hokey. A little ear was put on to stop interference with brake lines causing plate not to sit flat.. Bump stops are metal reinforced and aren't so easy to cut...lol... Air connections are awesome, easy and work well.. Love the control of rear suspension. Once installed a very nice system....

by:

Would have given 5 stars BUT, the carriage bolts are way too long on the bottom brackets. I had to cut them way down, if you don’t they would put a lot of pressure on the brake lines if you can even get the nut past the brake lines. Other than that, great product!

by:

Five star rating so far. Speed of delivery was awesome. Parts were exactly what is specified. Watched the installation video a couple of times prior to starting the install. I have a 2013 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab 4x4 so couldn't find exact match for video but the 2016 and 2017 installation video was pretty much the same. I did do one thing different from the video. I do not have a vehicle lift so I jacked it up and used jack stands and removed the tires. Seemed like that was the easier method than even a lift. No issues at all with install. Checked for leakage afterwards and everything was great. We'll see how it holds up now. Would definitely recommend this product as just about anyone with a basic set of tools can do the install themselves.

by:

I had to grind a little metal off the lip on the upper brackets on each side so it would fit snugly on center on the leaf springs over the center over the rear axle. Otherwise the installation went well and I am totally satisfied with how well it improves handling and leveling the load when I put my wife’s Yamaha Kodiak in the back of my Nissan Frontier and my Honda Rubicon on the small trailer that I pull behind loaded with coolers & gear. I’m very happy with how they work. It doesn’t even feel like I’m pulling the trailer!

by:

Easier install for me by removing rear wheels for better access.

by:

The folks at etrailer are the best. These Ride-Rite helper springs are just what I needed. I towed the camper this week and it has never towed better. I also made some adjustments to my wds with guidance from the pro’s at etrailer. The combination of the two was perfect and I didn’t feel like the camper was pulling me around. They do take a little time to install and we made one slight modification by adding a T so one nozzle to fill and both springs have same pressure. Excellent product.

by:

amazing super helpful thanks !

by:

The ride rite air bags are great. They make a huge difference. The ONLY reason I only gave 4 stars due to installation on the 2018 Frontier. I found the drivers side bag cannot sit straight over the axle due to the mounting hardware interferes with the brake lines. The u bolt on the front and back drivers side actually sit against the brake lines and this causes you to not be able to push the upper bracket forward or backward. BUT they do work and make a huge difference in ride quality when under a load or not.

by:

Not that hard to install. Took a friend and I 2 hours. Instructions were easy to follow.

by:

Mounting plates thin couldnt torque to spec as they would bend. Bags kept leaking down.

I reached out to Firestone about this. They said the recommended spec to torque to is 32 ft lbs. These plates are very robust. Would you be able to send a picture showing what you are seeing? If there is a leak, could you spray soapy water on the site so that it bubbles and that way you can get a picture to send.

by:

Easy installation. Took two of us 90 min with minimal stress.

by:

Works great
Installation was a little
tricky but got it in there and together.

I have purchased a few items for my 2020 Fontier e.g. tow package, wiring, electric brake control, fog lights/switch, etc. - it's a 'tweener' year i.e. new power train with old style body. This Firestone Airbag recommended by etrailer.com is NOT a bolt on product for the 2020 Nissan Frontier. The driver's side rear is the issue where with the new power train there is a cannister - not sure exactly what it is...but, it interfears with the hardware. After cutting, fabbing spacers, adjusting brake lines I got it installed - took me two 14 hour days. When it was finally installed after a lot of headsctatching and figuring out how to solve yet another problem - I felt like Firestone should have paid me for all the hassle.

For 2020 Nissan Frontiers we do have a tech tip that this system only fits models that do not have the evap carbon canister on the driver side by the rear axle. Unfortunately there is not a work around for it.

by:

Great service. Quick delivery. Rating would have been 5 if the carriage bolts had been the correct length. They were about double the length needed. Had to cut all of them to keep from interfering with the brake lines.

by:

Have a very small air leak on the drivers' side bag that I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot yet. The kit fit my 2008 Nissan Frontier pretty well. Some of the nuts were very difficult to tighten due to obstacles like brake lines, etc.

by:

Easy to install and worked as expected.
We towed a 2 axle trailer with this 65 Bug from California to Tennessee with no issues.

by:

Easy to order. Delivery was fast. Would buy from this company again

by:

It works, need to monitor air all the time, manual fill. Originally the air was independent from side to side, upgrade with T to maintain equal distribution on both sides. As for intended use it has meet my expectations.

by:

The kit did exactly what I was hoping and helped to level out the rear of the truck (2016 long-bed, 2x4, Frontier) when towing my 24'camper trailer. Installation was straight forward with the most difficult aspects being removal of existing rubber axil bump stocks

by:

This is the 2nd time I've ordered these air bags on my 2014 Frontier as the 1st set of air bags started dry rotting after 10 years. The 1st set gave me zero problems but the 2nd set has had a slow daily (5~7 PSI) leak on the driver's side since I've owned them. At first I thought I cut the 1/4" airline crooked so I redid that carefully--still leaked. Now waiting on a replacement air fitting from etrailer to fix the leak. Passenger side holds pressure all day & night so I'm puzzled why the difference in air tightness.

by:

Prompt delivery with good communication as regards order. Installation was straightforward as per instructions although I didn't use the included 3/8" x 5 1/2" carriage bolts for the lower bracket. Purchased 3/8 " x 3" Grade 8 bolts which did not require shortening and were easier to work with for clearance of brake line &etc. Air lines and connections worked great and No Leaks! Currently running 10# pressure but have not tested with a heavy load as of yet.

Thanks

Air bags have performed as designed with no issues for a year. Additional weight handled well and general ride and handling improved. Upgraded to E Series tires and Bilstein shocks and truck works well on and offroad.

Hello again Ed! You probably ended up outside our fitguide with some of the Timbren the parts you were looking at. If your Frontier has a 2" suspension lift and not just lifting blocks between the frame and bed, you'll want to use the 1-1/4" spacers item # F2536. In regards to the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2558 which are a fit for a 2014 Nissan Frontier Pro 4X, you will indeed need to use a spacer if the vehicle has been lifted in the rear. If the vehicle has been lifted 2.5" then you will need to use a 2" spacer, the Lift Spacers for Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2366. That's an interesting question, and yes, a dual-path compressor like the Firestone Air Command # F2178 can allow air to transfer from one side to the other in a turn. Its function is to allow you to level the air bags to different pressures for uneven loads, but air can transfer. Yes, Firestone airbags such as the # F2558 you have installed on your 2019 Nissan Frontier can support the weight of the wheels and axle. This is due to Firestone using a roll crimp that holds the endplate to the rubber. With that said, if you'll be leaving the truck like that for an extended period of time like a day or two, I'd still go ahead and use jackstands to support the weight of the axle anyways, but that's more of a personal preference.
