The flush design keeps the Yakima SkyLine FX crossbars tight to the roofline, giving your setup a clean, from-the-factory style. Nothing extends past the towers, so it all looks neat and purposeful. The integrated crossbar and tower system installs right to fixed mounting points for a solid, low-profile fit that feels like it belongs there.
Wind noise can wear on you fast when you’ve got gear loaded up top. These aero-style crossbars help smooth airflow to reduce drag and vibration. The push-down rubber strips in the top channels close up around your mounts, cutting down on whistling and helping keep the ride quiet and steady on long drives.
This rack is built for flexibility. You can load up bikes, kayaks, skis, or a cargo box without worrying about compatibility. The crossbars accept both channel-mount accessories that slide into the top track and clamp-on accessories that grab onto the bar. Whether it’s a weekend on the water or a road trip across the state, this setup makes switching gear quick and easy.
When you’re hauling heavy gear—whether it’s camping equipment or paddling setups—you want bars that feel solid. These aluminum crossbars carry up to 165 lbs while keeping weight down themselves. They’re tough enough for long hauls yet rust-resistant and backed by a limited lifetime warranty for peace of mind.
You can add Yakima Same Key System (SKS) lock cores (sold separately) to secure both the rack and your channel-mounted gear. It’s an easy way to keep your setup safe when your vehicle’s parked at a trailhead or campsite overnight.

How's it going neighbors Today we're gonna take a look at the Yakima SkyLine FX roof rack and see how well it fits on our 2025 Toyota RAV4. Now, being a RAV4 owner, you know having a lot of cargo space comes at a premium, and this is gonna allow you to take advantage of the negative space on top of your vehicle to get those bigger, bulkier and sometimes dirty items out on the road. So let's take a closer look and see how it installs, and what it does for us. Now the first thing that stands out to me on the RAV4 is the fact that you have these flush mounts here where you're not hanging over. It gives it a nice clean OEM look. And a thing that I like about these also and the fact that they come with a lock, but you can switch it out to the Yakima same key system.
And that's gonna allow you to have one key for all of your Yakima items. So if you add a SkinnyWarrior to the roof or you go with a Yakima bike carrier, you can have one key for all of your gear. Another thing that's really cool about this is actually the shape of the bar. If you take a look, you can see that this guy is shaped like an airplane wing. And what that does for you, it gives you a lot more, a lot less wind resistance as you're going down the road.
So it's gonna cause less noise when you're traveling. Also, you can see that you have plenty of clearance between your bar and the rooftop. And what that does for you, it makes sure that you can use just about any type of rooftop accessory. Now as far as your setup, everything you need is in the bag, doesn't require any measuring because your mounting points are fixed. So now I'm gonna show you how to get this guy installed.
Set up on this guy is super easy, because you already have fixed mounting points, so it doesn't require a lot of extra effort. I already threw on the rear bar just to see how it fits on. And just wanna make sure each one of your pads from the landing pad kit goes to the recommended door panel. Like this one right here has a arrow pointing to the front passenger door. So that's where it's gonna install.
We're gonna use our box trim panel removal tool or a flathead screwdriver if you're extra cautious to not scratch anything. And this guy drops right down into position. So from here you're gonna take your tower, and it's gonna align with the squares on top of the pad. And we'll put our screw in the position. When you don't have your crossbar on, you can keep your mounting points on your roof and just drop it right here over your cover. And now keep everything protected on the inside. Now we're gonna go ahead and pop this guy off. And I'll show you how to install your crossbar. So as far as the bars in your kit for your RAV4, you're gonna get two different sizes. You're gonna get the SM that's in the rear, and this guy right here is the SD that goes into the front, the longer bar. You're just gonna start by removing your cover for your caps here, and that's gonna give you where your lock core would go. It's gonna come with a plastic core that you can unlock using a key or a coin, anything flat just to get it to move. And that's gonna allow us to pull in these two posts here to drop right into our towers. So we're gonna do the same thing on this guy here. The curve is going towards the front and drop it into position. Now out the box, you may notice that you're a little bit short as far as getting across. This is how you're gonna fix it. You're gonna use your included torque wrench, and go right through this hole, and loosen this bolt up, and that'll give you a little bit more extension. You are gonna bring that all the way down, and now we're locked into place. And you're gonna take your tool and make sure you get back to your torque spec. So you're gonna twist it till it clicks. (loud clicking) Now we're good to go. And just that easy, you're able to get a roof rack on top of your vehicle so you can get those bigger bulkier items out for your adventure. Now, once you put it to work, I would love to hear what you think about it. Please leave a comment below, 'cause I love having that interaction with you. Now again, this is Ed with etrailer.com taking a look at the SkyLine FX Roof Rack from Yakima on our 2025 Toyota RAV4. Have a great day.

Super fast shipping and clear communica tion.
Everything worked out great, free shipping only took three days as well.
I know you’re looking at this saying why so much money? Idk but it is supper strong held my roof top tent and a lot of weight off road on road and then some
I didn’t buy a fuel-efficient vehicle with a sunroof so that I could drive around with a roof rack! This rack system goes on and off so quickly and easily, saving me fuel economy and freeing up my sunroof. It’s been a year and it’s been great.
This fits a 2020 Rav4 perfectly. This will prolong all my yakima rack accessories that I have.
The materials are high quality and finished well. Tightening the bolts causes the receivers to bow inward and made it very difficult to install the Skyline tower base.
Rack landing pads for my car model were back ordered and unavailable from [online vendor] and direct from Yakima itself. etrailer had them in stock and shipped them to me on time. nuff said!
The landing pad for the 2024 RAV4 has only one screw to hold it in place. Do not over-tighten that screw, that will result in the width of the connection holes on the pad bowing and moving closer together, then the sky tower attachment will not fit into the mounting location. The Yakama installation instructions did not directly address this potential.
The landing pad for a 2004 Honda CR-V used two screws for each pad, and the issue did not occur.
Landing Pad 23 fits my RAV4 Prime perfectly. No issues in the install other than the torque might be more than needed as it deforms the cars roof rail and the fitting (pad) deforms so that the male mount on the racks won't fit. I had to open them up by loosening the bolt to the point it would fit. All good!
Bought these landing pads (and towers) for both our Outback and Rav4. We shuttle our Yakima rack between the two, depending on the need. We mount both a Thule pod and a Roofnest Meadowlark on the rack with no problem. Once these pads and towers are permanently installed, it takes about one minute to install or remove the rack. Great system, highly recommended.
Fits nicely into the slot as designed for the 2023 Yukon.
It’s Easier to remove these Yakima skyline towers. Locks are a must for peace of mind in case one of these hinging clamps opened on the highway (very unlikely but a lock would prevent that completely.)
I do wish it was a little smaller profile, but it’s pretty good for a Yakima product.
