Hello, neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Inno Aero flush roof rack, and we're gonna see how it fits and how it installs on our 2026 Mazda CX-50. Now the Mazda CX-50 does have a decent amount of cargo space back here, but if when you're out on your next trip, you got a full complement of passengers with luggage and everything else, you could run outta room pretty quickly. Or maybe you're heading out on a trip where you've got some items that just won't fit in the vehicle regardless, or they're items that you just don't want riding in the vehicle with you. A roof rack is really one of the better ways to carry those extra items. There are all sorts of accessories that can be used up here, from cargo boxes and cargo baskets to bike racks and kayak carriers. Now this is a flush roof rack, meaning that your crossbar is going to dead end into your towers as opposed to an overhanging roof rack where it's gonna stick out beyond it.
Now the downside to that is that you do tend to have less bar space to work with and you're forced to kind of put any accessories that you have toward the middle of the vehicle. The good thing though is the CX-50 isn't that tall of a vehicle, and because of the placement of the bars, it's pretty easy to just step up into your second row door threshold and be able to manage that cargo without bringing a stool or a small ladder around with you everywhere in order to do it. It's an aero-style bar, and what that means is it's a lot more aerodynamic. It's got this kind of wing or blade shape to it. These are gonna be much quieter on the road than your traditional round or square bars.
There's a weather strip up at the top with a T-slot that's gonna allow you to use T-slot accessories, and it's gonna fit your clamp-mounted accessories as well. Now these also have a 165-pound weight capacity. However, you always want to double check your owner's manual for the vehicle's rooftop capacity. If that number is lower than 165 pounds, then that's gonna have to be your max capacity. Now let's go ahead and grab a measuring tape, take a few measurements up here, and see how it fits on the roof of the CX-50.
Now we'll be walking you through the installation shortly, but these are placed very specifically according to Inno's measurements. And the first one that we're gonna take is our crossbar spread. That is the distance between our two crossbars. And as I take this, we are gonna have a crossbar spread of 27 3/4 inches, and that's the spec that you're gonna get from Inno. And that's actually a good crossbar spread.
It's an important number to know because every rooftop accessory has a minimum and a maximum crossbar spread that's gonna allow you to use it. And that measurement kind of puts you right in a sweet spot where most rooftop accessories are gonna fit on this pretty easily. We're also gonna take a measurement of how much room we have underneath our bar, and that's gonna come out to about 2 1/2 inches. These are one of the lowest-setting crossbars that you can get up here. And while that does leave you plenty of room to put your clamp-mounted accessories around it, if you have a sunroof like we do today, the sunroof on the CX-50 has a really aggressive tilt. I wouldn't use it while you have these bars up here. But again, as you'll see shortly in the install, the distance between your towers locks into place separately from the clamps that lock onto your rails. And what that means is, is if you can mark somewhere on the inside of your rails where the crossbars go, these are really easy to take on and off. So if you're not using them and you want to storm 'em just because you want to use your sunroof or if you wanna run it through an automatic car wash, that's something else you shouldn't keep these up for, they're very easy to take on and off quickly. And the other thing that we're gonna take a look at is how much does this add to our overall vehicle height And it's gonna add about 3 3/4 inches of vehicle height. So if you know your rooftop accessory height and your vehicle height, you can add that to it to get your rooftop clearance. We also discussed a little bit about the limited bar space that you get on these compared to an overhanging bar. And because these rails up here taper wider from the front to narrower in the back, as far as your accessories go, the back bar is the one that's gonna determine any limitations you may have. So as far as your clamp-mounted accessories, you're gonna have about 33 inches to work with. And as far as your T-slot accessories go, you're gonna end up having about 37 to work with. So based on the measurements that I took, this is a pretty good fit on the roof of the CX-50. I think with how low it is, a lot of people are going to like the fact that it's flush-mounted, they don't have to worry about head clearance getting in and out of the vehicle. But I had mentioned that we're gonna be walking you through the installation, so stick around and I'll show you exactly how we got these on our roof today. Now the installation of the Inno bars is really a pretty simple process, but there are some nuances that we're gonna want to go over. We do have our front bar installed already. You're gonna need to install the front bar first in order to get placement on your second bar. But the process as far as putting the towers on is exactly the same. So we're gonna go ahead and show you that now. So to begin, we've got our tower, we've got our bar here. We've already installed one of them. We've also got our front clamp, our base pad, our rear clamp, we've got the keys to unlock it, our bolt, and we've got the tool that tightens the bolt down, and that just simply works just like this. They're also gonna provide you with a measuring tape. So everything you need is gonna come right outta the box for Inno. And the first thing that you want to do is go ahead and unlock your tower cover. So go ahead and grab your keys and let's get that opened up. That's just gonna slide right off, just like that. Now, there is an indicator inside of each tower, L and R. L meaning the driver's side, R meaning the passenger's side. There's also a diagram here to help show you how it fits on the end of the bar. You've got your wider end and your narrower end. So the wider end is gonna face the front of the vehicle with the narrower end facing the rear. So what we'll do is go ahead and turn this over and what we'll have back here is this kind of sliding tray like this. We're gonna need to depress this tab and push this here to open up this cavity. Once that's done, we're gonna turn our tower over, lift up on this lever, and as you can see, that releases our tab here that's gonna go into the T-slot. So what we're gonna do is drop this in to this cavity right here and slide it over. Once that pops back up, we've got it locked in. Now this is where the nuance is going to come in, and that is that we have to kind of preset where our towers are going to sit before we go ahead and put it up on the roof. Now in the instructions, this is the correct fit kit, but fit kits for roof racks often fit several different vehicles. The measurements that we got outta the box were actually for a different vehicle, so we had to kind of figure it out ourselves and figure out what worked best. So what we came up with was on the front bar that we've already got up there, the distance between our towers needs to be 34 1/4 inches. The distance in our rear tire needs to be 33 1/8. So to do that, what we're going to end up doing is grabbing the provided measuring tape and we're gonna measure the distance between our towers here. So I'm a little bit, just barely, just that 1/8 inch shy. So I'm gonna bump this back just a hair. And there is an indicator in the middle of the bar that's gonna tell you, you know, where it's gonna be centered at. Now that we've got it at 33 1/8. What I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go ahead and clamp down on this lever here, and that's gonna lock our tower into place. My next step is gonna be to put on my foot pad. And the way this works is you can see, it's kind of slotted here, it's gonna work around these tabs here and also around the front corner. So it's pretty flexible, so it's gonna be pretty easy for you to maneuver around a bit and stretch over where you need it to. But you just wanna make sure that you've got a good, solid grab on all four of your corners here. And once that's on into place, I'm gonna grab my back clamp. Now the back clamp, you need to make sure that this rubber pad is gonna be facing the inside of your rail here. There's also this cylinder in the back that can rotate. It's gonna help you thread that bolt through when it's time. So this is gonna end up going right into this position right here. I'm gonna get my outer clamp here. There are tabs that need to fit over these two areas, so I'm gonna put it in, just like that. And then what I'm gonna do is take my bolt and thread this through. Now, you may have to kind of maneuver again that cylinder in the back to make sure that you got it lined up to thread. But once you do, go ahead and get it to the point where, you know, the bolt is just coming through on this side. That's gonna leave plenty of slack here and opening to get over your rail while also keeping it relatively in place while we're putting it on. Now let's take the time to talk about our crossbar placement. So the measurements that you're gonna get in your instructions for the placement of your crossbars is correct. It's only the distance between your towers that you have to make the adjustment for that we just went over. So the front bar is gonna be measured from this door seam right here. The center of this tower needs to be six inches from it. So we went ahead and measured that out and got it into position, but we repeated the same measurement over on the passenger side. We really need to make sure that our towers are directly across from one another. When we do that on both crossbars, that's gonna guarantee that those are perfectly parallel. Now for our second bar, where that needs to be is 20 3/4 inches from this door seam right here back. So we're gonna go ahead and take that measurement. That's gonna put us right about in this area. So we're gonna go ahead and get our crossbar up right here and then we'll go ahead and tweak it with some final measurements. Now as you're setting this down, there's kind of a skirting around your foot pad here. So if you do need to move it back and forth for those measurements, you're better off kind of lifting it and moving it rather than dragging it 'cause it'll tuck under and it's kind of a pain to readjust that way. But once you get it down into this position, go ahead and grab your measuring tape and double-check that measurement from the door seam on both sides. So the next thing that I'm going to do, now that we've got these in the proper position, is I like to kind of just pinch the clamp, get that good grab from this front clamp under the lip of your rail. Take the tool from Inno here and we're just gonna tighten this bolt down until it's snug. I'm not looking to tighten this down all the way yet. You want to make sure that you don't tighten one side down all the way and not the other, 'cause it usually will knock the other side out of place if you leave it loose. And then you have to, you know, basically start all over with your measurements, loosen everything up, and go from there. But if you get this to where it's just snug and do that to the other side as well, you can continue tightening down without this being knocked outta place. Once you get 'em both snug, go ahead and start tightening them down. But what you don't want to do is, again, just tighten down one side completely before the other. I like to tighten it down a little bit on the driver's side, then go to the passenger's side, do the same thing, and kind of work my way back and forth incrementally. But once you get both sides tightened down enough, you're gonna hear a loud click out of your tool. It is a torquing tool, so it's gonna let you know that it is tightened down according to Inno specs. (tool clicking) That sound right there lets me know that it's all tightened down. We already got it out of our passenger's side. So what I'm gonna do now is I like to just grab it and just give it kind of a manual shake test, make sure there's no movement or shifting here or in the crossbar itself. Now before I put our tower cover on, which is the final step of our installation, I just wanted to bring up the fact that one of the great values that comes within Inno is that it does come with metal lock cores and keys. It just adds to that security. And you don't have to purchase them separately, like you do with a lot of other roof racks out there. I also want to take the opportunity to show while the tower cover is off, that this is where you access the weather stripping up here for your T-slot. All you need to do is push down on it and slide your accessory over to the placement that you want it. But as our last and final step, we're gonna go ahead and place our tower cover on and get it locked up. And that's really it for the installation of our Inno Aero roof rack here on our 2026 Mazda CX-50. Aero roof rack is very stylish and gives my car a good look. It’s low profile look is what I really enjoy about it. The bars are pretty wide so any bars you do add to them, you’ll have to do IN-DEPTH research to make sure they do fit. I’ve had some run in with some issues with bike racks

This rack fit my 2024 Ford Maverick perfectly, although etrailer said it wouldn’t fit. I checked the fit guide on the Inno website, this was confirmed as an option for my truck. Installation went well, fit is perfect, really like the Inno products. Highly recommended. Unable to download photos, bummer.
Installed on a '24 Ford Expedition Max. The 63 inch bars are nice and long, without being too long. Much easier to install than some other more expensive name brands. Definitely recommend.
Very nice quality, made in Japan. Easy to install using the Inno XS150 base stays. The 51" was a nice size for my 2015 Touareg. Many of the manufacturers recomment wider (53-54"), but I like the narrower profile. Unfortunately, the Aero design still creates a slight bit of wind noise at highway speeds, and it gets worse if the sunroof is raised (vent). I like the soft rubber T-channel material which allows the accessories to mount without cutting the material. I also like the slightly arched shape.
Worked like a charm. My daughter and I completed a 10K mile, 35 day camping trip around the USA.
Got these with the custom fit kit (INK860) and the through feet/stays (INXS250) for my 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Assembly's not difficult, though you do have to work with three different instructions: 1 for the stays/feet (the main install instructions), one for the Crossbars (minimal to do there), and one for the custom fit kit (again, minimal, though this one is crucial as it contains the measurements for the setup).
Things went pretty smoothly. However, when I put it on my roof at the measured distances from the center line, the feet didn't both occupy the rain gutter as they are supposed to. I checked the measurements, and both the front stays were at 21.5" and both back stays were at 21 3/8 " . Since those were the called for measurements, I'm not sure why I didn't fit perfectly. However, they're great and I can't wait to put them to use with my kayak and snowboard and bike. Thanks E-Trailer.
Photos show how great the system looks as well as some of the gaps at the rain gutters. I don't think it's crucial to readjust those. I did try several times but couldn't seem to get them just right.
Lauren gave me a very good and thorough explanation on what I need and what options I have. I'm very happy with the roof rack and kayak saddle. The sadly easily fitted my tandem old town twin heron kayak.

Great fit, look and service
I bought this for my 2016 Fiat 500X which has two glass sunroofs, and it fits perfectly! Follow the directions, put the bars where it says to, and your glass will be safe. You can't open the sunroof while this is in place, but hey, at least you can haul gear on your roof without breaking the glass.
Still holding up as well as the day it was installed (Mar'20). I've loaded this system down with a basket full of camping gear and another trip with 3 kayaks and single bike. Everything stayed solid and didn't budge at highway speeds and windy mountain roads.
Very happy with these cross bars for our 2023 Tiguan. Installation was easy as is adding accessories such as baskets. Great looking too. There is some audible drag on highways but not terrible and no real noticeable MPG difference. I would still purchase again.
This is the second time buying the Enno Aero Crossbars from etailer - a set for each car. Best price around. The bars are incredibly quiet even with the cargo box on top. If etrailer doesn't have all of the components for your make and model of car, I suggest you buy what does fit your car from etrailer for price and shipping speed and then buy the rest directly from Inno USA site.
