Is the clamp on the Inno rack we discussed made out of metal? Is it metal on metal when it’s securely attached to the vehicle or is there some type of rubber protecting the car’s surface?

The lowest profile roof rack for a 2016 Audi A6 Sedan is the Inno Aero Crossbar System part # INXB100-108, part # INXS200, and part # INK412. This system sits about 3-1/2" to 4" from the roof to the top of the crossbar but it is hard to get exact measurements due to all the different roof shapes.

I have attached a photo of the Inno Aero Crossbar System installed on a different vehicle that way you can get a better feel for how tall it is.

There are two components of the Inno Aero Crossbar System that come into contact with the vehicle, the mounting feet and the fit kit. The mounting feet are made of plastic and have a thick rubber pad underneath. The fit kit is indeed made of metal however the metal is coated with a rubberized material. Therefore, neither the mounting feet or fit kit will cause any damage to the vehicle's surface.
