As always, the whole purchasing experience from etrailer.com was easy and smooth. Staff responded to my questions were prompt and precise. The Curt hitch came as expected, and the installation was easy (the etrailer tutorial videos are were helpful). Anytime, I could, I would recommend etrailer.com to friends.
This product didn't fit my 2025 Mazda CX-50 as well as i expected. The cross bar between the two frame mounting brackets pushed the bumper cover mounts back 1/4 inch. It was difficult to install as a result. The final appearance is not greatly affected and the hitch is usable.
The hitch fit perfectly. Box was a little beat up. Paint on the hitch a little chipped. The installation was on a CX50 hybrid. Just needed to remove the hitch cover in bumper and cut hard plastic bumper support. Installation took about 45-50 minutes.
On my install I used a dremel tool to cut out an opening for the original hitch cover and reinstalled it
to take up some space around the hitch.
Overall, good fit on the 2025 CX-50, but it is very snug and does take some wrangling if you are solo.
First attempt I made the other day was with a jack and jack stands. The problem here was I concentrated on only one side and getting it lined up and the bolts in, and was unable to get the other side to even go up because it is a *very* snug fit on the frame.
My second attempt today I took a different approach as a solo install. I get it up in the cavity area, then put myself directly under it from the center and lifted it into place equally on both sides. It's still very snug, but this allowed me to get it installed on both sides. Lining up the holes was tricky, but I managed to work the front holes (toward the front of the car) in first, then i used a small floor jack on each side to push upward, and then use some of my own muscle to essentially pivot it off the existing bolts and line up the back holes (toward the back of the car) so I could thread the bolts in. Took some work, but still managed it in under an hour I think overall.
Nice hitch fit my 2024 Mazda CX-50 perfect. My only complaint is how it was packaged. There is no foam or cardboard on hitch to protect it during shipping. Three areas poked through the box and the powder coating was scratched off so I had to touch it up with black paint to prevent rust.
High quality product at a good price. The box had some damage but the hitch was well secured and didn’t have any scratches. The instructions were straightforward but I found it easier to install the hitch by removing the entire lower bumper cover and cutting out the required section while it was off the car. Raising the hitch with a floor jack made it a one person job. This is my fourth hitch to buy from etrailer and I have always been pleased with the parts and installations.

Really appreciate you sharing what made the install easier for you! That's for other folks to know who are also hoping to tackle this install project. :) Whatcha towing with the new 2025 Mazda?

When we attempted to install trailer hitch on Mazda CX-50, the fit was not proper. The plates that mount to the frame are about 3/4" too narrow and will not fit around the frame. The vehicle is brand new with only 200 miles and should bolt right up.
Unfortunately we need to return this part and schedule a different install date for our customer. We have never had problems like this with Curt on prior installations, but can not recommend this product due to this fitment issue
Box showed up destroyed from UPS but amazingly not even a scratch on the hitch! (I truly was concerned it would be bent or scratched badly)
The hitch fit my CX50 perfectly and was easy to install without any help, took about a hour. (Did need to make a small support from some scrap 2x4’s) The video instructions on their website is great so you know exactly what to do.
Item shipped fast and arrived on time. Like the free shipping. Everything fit perfectly, so installation was pretty easy. I would recommend this and will purchase from e-trailer again.
The hitch fit perfectly on our 2023 Mazda CX50 following the directions provided. The painted finish is of high quality, definitely recommend this model for adding ability to tow a camping trailer.
This hitch fits perfectly and is tucked up nicely under the bumper of our 2023 Mazda CX-50. Great fit and finish. Only hiccup with the install was that I had to use a jack to get the last bolt to lineup perfectly.
2025 Mazada CX 50 S Premium Plus fit was good . Used a low profile floor jack to install it & a small bottle jack after I got 1 bolt on both sides installed to get the other 2 bolts installed .Installation video was straight forward and I would recommend this hitch
Haven’t used it yet for towing or other accessories, but installation was clean and simple. Hitch was packaged well in the box too given its weight.
Thank you very much for the trailer hitch I received from you.
The hitch fit perfectly on my Mazda CX 50 and installation was a breeze.
What I thought was going to be a 20 minute job turned into a two hour job. The holes in the hitch did not line up with the frame and adjustments needed to be made.
Hitch fit perfectly. Fairly easy install. Didn't have to jack the car up. Used a floor jack to lift receiver into place.
Straight forward install for the C33MJ on 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid. Followed directions as provide. I went online so I could see colored pictures which made install a bit easier. One change I did made was the use of zip ties to attach the portions of the bumper support removed to the hitch. Zip ties keep the rear bumper from rattling over rough roads and are not visible unless you crawl under the vehicle. C45FV wiring was used with the C33MJ and was also an easy install. Total install time for both was about an hour including unpacking and reading directions. The power connection for the C45FV was made at the rear passenger 150A power connection that attaches to the bus bar/fuse box that is connected to the battery in the rear passenger wheel well.
C33MJ Hitch Receiver arrived on time and well packed and protected. Not a scratch on it. According to published Installation instruction sheet, installation would be "easy, taking approx. 50 min." I had all the required tools on hand. What I didn't have was a commercial grade car lift and an extra pair of hands strong enough to lift the heavy receiver while lying on our backs with the car up on jack stands. Eventually solved that problem by supporting one side with a small screwdriver through the frame hole while lifting the other side in place and hand threading the bolts. Meanwhile, because of the CX50's extra ground clearance, my trusty floor jack proved insufficient height-wise. Had to use the scissor jack from the spare tire well... so much for the 50 minute estimate for installation time. Next problem - the installation instructions started with removing the 2 screws holding the "hitch panel" to the center of the bumper. The issue is that the photograph for this step looks nothing like the underside of the CX50 rear bumper. Were the instructions for a different car? Fortunately, the instructions included a tech support phone # for Curt Mfg... their support tech admitted that I was looking at, essentially, step 2. Step 1 was actually to loosen the plastic fascia piece in the middle, removing the 2 center pop-out fasteners, and flex the panel down to reveal the hitch plate and 2 screws. He sent me 4 additional hi-res photos that - frankly - could have and probably should have been included in the first place. Not Etrailer.com's fault, the installation instructions were supplied by Curt Mfg., but it sure would have been helpful to be able to watch a video of the complete installation process before starting. Hopefully Etrailer.com will get that done soon. Setting all of these little problems aside, the installation process was really very easy - just 2 easy cuts to some plastic on the underside of the bumper, no drilling, no need to lower the muffler, and the receiver lifts right into place. The satisfaction from doing it myself far outweighed the $350 additional cost that the dealer or a "hitch shop" would have charged!!
The trailer hitch fit perfectly. I looked around to see if it could be professionally installed. 450$!$! ?? NOT. Just borrowed a neighbors jack and did it in 1 hours time. Not the easiest but got on and it's ready for the road. Thanks etrailer.
Good quality, better packing! Arrived unscathed and in one piece, thanks!
P.s. installation video was spot on in you can lift vehicle, if not, at least putting the back tires up on ramps (what I did), makes install go a lot faster.
Great documentation and video on installation and product details. I order the hitch and recieved it in just a few days. First time installing a hitch and it took about an hour just as estimated by etrailer (no real issues encountered). If you are installing it yourself, one hint I found online was to use a hydraulic floor jack to help list the hitch in place.
Third hitch from etrailer, keep coming back cause there’s never a hitch. From selection to instruction to how did it get here so fast.
Love and respect!
I followed the instructions in the video. Working alone it took about an hour. 2023 CX 50
Fit like a glove! A bit tight...any amount of tape not removed makes the alignment of the bolt holes difficult but with a bit of effort it'll fit like a glove.
This thing is less than half the price of OEM with the same quality and installation! Bolt holes lined up perfectly!
