Question:

We are looking at roof racks for our 2018 Fiat 500X. It has a sunroof and I know all the rack people say not to open the sunroof with a rack installed. Whatever. We want the quieter kind of roof rack with the wing bars. The car is black. Are there any black racks?

We have aero-style roof racks for your 2018 Fiat 500X from two prominent companies, Inno and Thule, and these appear on the linked page. All such racks use bars that have the wing-like shape that cuts through the wind more easily and so they generate less noise at higher driving speeds. You may not know the Inno brand but they are the leading OEM rack maker for many popular vehicle brands in Japan.

If your 500X has a bare roof with no existing rails or crossbars I suggest the Inno Aero rack with flush feet, parts # INXB100-108, # INXS200 and # INK482. This rack's black aero bars terminate in the rack feet, which gives a really clean look, more like a factory roof rack. You can refer to the linked installation video to see this system installed on a 500X.

If instead your 500X has flush-mounted rails that run front-to-back then you can use a similar Thule roof rack made of parts # TH7603B-TH7603B and # THKIT4043. This rack also provides the clean OEM appearance from its black aero bars.
