Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Built-In Shocks

The webbing of standard straps can't stretch or contract to absorb impacts. As a result, standard tie-downs might become detached from their anchor points, or they may become slack around your gear as the load shifts. But these ratchet straps feature built-in urethane shocks that are designed to absorb impact and to allow give. This ensures that the tie-downs stay taut and won't loosen over time. The built-in shocks helps to keep the tie-downs from coming loose or failing, which could result in lost or damaged toys.

In addition, the shock ensures a longer life for the strap webbing. If you use this to tie down a motorcycle, for example, the constant compressing and rebounding of the bike's suspension during travel can wreak havoc on ordinary straps. The webbing is likely to experience more wear and tear as it rubs along your gear. But the ShockStrap's shocks absorb these jolts so that the webbing of the tie-downs stays put instead of wearing over the edges of your equipment.

Easy-to-Use Ratchet

Each tie-down features a commercial-grade, heavy-duty ratchet. To release the ratchet, grab the oversized handle and pull on the release lever. The release lever is positioned on the outside of the ratchet to ensure safe and easy operation, even if you're wearing gloves.

How to Use the ShockStrap Ratchet Straps

To use the ShockStrap ratcheting tie-down strap, first attach one of the durable S-hooks to a desired anchor point. Then stretch the strap over your cargo and secure the other hook to a point on the opposite side of your truck or trailer. Each hook has a wide opening, making it hassle-free to maneuver and attach the hooks to your anchor points. And the retention clips on the hooks ensure that the hooks stay in place on the anchors while you're loading, as well as while you're traveling.

Soft loops, which are on both sides of the straps, can be used to tie down a piece of equipment that may otherwise be difficult to secure. So instead of using the hooks, which may scratch or scuff your toys and might be difficult to run through or around other cargo, you can easily cinch each tie-down around your gear. Just wrap a soft tie around the axle of your UTV or around the handlebars of your motorcycle, and then secure the tie-down to your anchor points as usual.

Once the hooks are in place, tighten the webbing around the cargo and activate the shock. To tighten the strap, crank the ratchet mechanism until the webbing is taut around your load. Be sure not to overtighten the strap. If your hand cannot fit between the shock and the safety strap, the strap is too tight.

To activate the shock, tighten the strap a bit more, stretching the shock until light is visible through the bolt holes in the shock. In warm climates, the shock can stretch up to 2", while in subzero climates you may only get about 1/2" of give.

Finally, after tightening the webbing and stretching the shock, make sure your cargo is completely secure and then tie off any extra slack.

Strong, Durable Construction

The sturdy, UV-resistant polyester webbing of these tie-down straps has a high tolerance for abrasion and water absorption.

The shocks are made of urethane, which can withstand elements such as sunlight, saltwater, moisture, oil, fungi, and most chemicals. These shocks can function in nearly any temperature, holding up to hot and cold weather conditions without losing elasticity or becoming unyielding or brittle over time.

The rust-resistant, yellow zinc chromate coating on the ratchet and hardware holds up to the varying weather conditions.

A safety strap is also built into each tie-down to provide peace of mind should something happen to the shock. This safety strap ensures that if the tie-down is used improperly, overloaded, or unduly stretched, your cargo will remain secured.

Hello Everybody. This is Jeff at Today we're gonna take a look at this shock strap, 15 foot long ratchet, tie-down strap with the shock absorber for a quantity of one strap. Now this shock absorbing, ratcheting, tie-down strap will let you secure cargo in your truck bed or your trailer. And I want to zoom in on the unique feature of this strap, which has this built in urethane shock absorber. It's designed to help absorb any impact to ensure constant tension with strap, even as your mode shifts.

This shock absorber right here is made of a urethane based material. And it'll stand up to extreme temperatures, to salt water, moisture, oil, and most chemicals. And if you notice they attach it to the strap by using this sturdy grade A bolt and the nylock nuts, which will hold the shock in place. Also, if you notice on the side right here, it has a safety strap and that safety strap plugs on there for two purposes. The first one is to give you an extra strap if for some reason the shock absorber would break.

Now, the shock absorber would probably never break, but just for safety reasons, they do put this extra strap on there. The manufacturer does say that this shock absorber would have to be stretched 18 to 20 inches for it to even think about breaking and you'll notice when you use it and tighten it down that this will usually never even stretch hardly anything. But the other reason for the safety strap, the second reason, is to act like a limiter so that you don't over ratchet the strap. So basically what you do is when you hook up your strap and start tightening it down, as it tightens up, your one thingy, this strap here, will get closer to the shock absorber, and you'll want to use it as a guideline because you want to be able to slide your fingers and your hand, between the safety strap and the shock absorber for correct tension, so you'd be able to slide it in and slide it out. So as you tighten it down and it starts to stretch and get tighter, this will give you a good guideline of how tight you want it to be.

Now, this strap is DOT approved, Department of Transportation and also made in the USA. And also because of the shock absorber feature, this strap is great for securing cargo that has a suspension system that can compress and rebound when you travel rough terrain. So this strap is great for tying down snowmobiles, motorcycles, utility tractors, even ATVs and UTVs, cause what'll happen with those is because they have a suspension system, that'll give, if you go over any rough surfaces and it's strapped down and your suspension gives, it could loosen the straps. But with this straps, what's nice is the shock absorber will keep that tension so you don't run into that problem. The ratchet mechanism right here, you can see, makes it very easy to tighten down the strap and maintain tension on the strap.

You can see as you crank it and ratchet it it'll pull the strap in to tighten it. The very middle right here, you can see, has a nice release lever and this handle is nice and large because even if you're wearing thick, heavy gloves, you can still use it. Your gloves with your gloves on to operate the handle. Wanted to zoom out to just show you what we're talking about. So to ratchet it, just like that, you can see it pulling in this strap here. And the other nice feature is if you're gonna go hook up and you need to pull out some extra strap to attach it, what you can do is pull up on that release lever, release the handle and go all the way the other way and push it until it locks into place. And then that releases the handle from the ratchet mechanism. And it'll allow that strap to freeWheel so I can pull out as much as you need. So if you have a distance to go, it makes it quick and easy just to pull out what you need. Once you're there, hook it up and then just pull the lever, put your ratchet back or the handle back in the ratchet. And just like that, you're ready to crank it in. Very simple to operate. Very simple to hook up. Now on each end, they have these S hooks. We'll zoom in and show you the S hook. You can see here, these S hooks have a nice wide one inch opening. So when you push down the retention clip, gives you a nice one inch opening, allows a nice hassle-free connection to any anchor points. And if you notice on the hook itself, has a nice rubber coating on it, which'll protect your deer, your truck, or your trailer that you hooked it to. The retention clips, again, they keep the hooks connected to your anchor points and also on each end, you'll notice they have these straps with the loop on it. These are integrated soft loop so that you can wrap it around an axle or a handle bar, and then pull it tight up against the hook in case your hook won't be able to reach something, you can just use this, bring it back by and hook up. It makes it a lot easier. Now all the steel parts on the strap have a nice corrosion resistant yellow zinc Chromate coating. Holds up to any hot, cold or wet weather conditions and the webbing on this is a nice durable black polyester webbing, and it is UV resistant, will withstand abrasions and even water absorption. The dimension on the strap, that's one and a half inches wide. This one is 15 feet in length. Now they do also offer a shorter length, which is seven feet. We do sell that separately. It's on our website, it's part number SS58MV. Now the minimum usable length, in other words, the shortest you'd be able to use this at is 29 inches. Now they do have a list, a strap on here and it'll list the maximum load or breaking strength, which'll be 3000 pounds. And they also list the safe working load limit, which is a third of that so it'd be a thousand pounds. Now in tie-down straps, they must be chosen according to their safe working load limit so the weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined working load limit of the straps being used. So for a good example, if you're using these straps with a working load limit, let's say at 500 pounds each to tie down a load that weighs a thousand pounds, and you just need to use two straps to safely secure that load. And I do always like to recommend that you always use straps in pairs. These tie down straps are the best! Trailered my Harley long distances with no issues. Feel very secure using these. 100% recommend!


Way better than standard tie downs. Holds better if you tighten enough as compared to standard tie down and does not slack up


The product performed as it was advertised. The straps were well constructed and it was obvious a great deal of thought went into the design. I shoot sporting clay targets and haul a John Deere Gator 825 XUV to events, as a means of transportation around the course. Roads traveling to and from events, often, are gravel or dirt. This can and does create rough road surfaces to pull trailers and XUVs on. I used the Shock Straps this past week and watched to Gator as I drove on some rough terrain. The Gator did not move or sway during the trip. When I got to my destination, the straps were as tight as when I left for the trip. There was absolutely no play in the straps. Previously, I was always adjusting the straps and the XUV would rock and bounce on rough terrain. No any more.


These are just what I was looking for and more. Was looking for motorcycle tie-down that wrapped around handlebars. The shock absorber is a bonus.


Have not used them yet, but these straps are heavy duty and well made for motorcycle use. They fit the bill nicely!


I use these to tie down Honda Rancher ATVs, I took out the rubber shock as it's useless(too stiff) for the weight of the ATV and provides no shock motion. The strap itself is unbeatable. Heavy duty, with the loop and latching hook that make this strap a super safe option. The strap and hook WILL NOT come off going down a rough road, due to the safety mechanisms. Well worth the price if you want long lasting AND safety as peace of mind.

I ordered these to strap down an ATV for several hour highway trips during hunting season. They work great and my atv does not bounce around and loosen the straps like traditional ratchet straps do. I've recommended to several friends who have also ordered and have the same success. Great product!

Great straps. This is my second set. I gave the first set to my brother as a gift. I bought me a set. We haul everything from UTV’s, 4-wheelers as well as tractors and skid steers. Shock Straps are the best straps I have ever used. They are strong and never come loose.


I should have bought the straps that bolt to the trailer.
These work but not much need for the shock feature or the loops at the end of the strap.


This review is more of etrailer not a product. Ordered these tiedowns for a birthday gift. Website indicated delivery in 4 to 5 days. They didn’t even ship for nearly a week, birthday came and went its need 12 days since ordering and still have not received the item. If you really want these tiedowns, find them somewhere else other than etrailer.


Like everyone else I would go through the efforts of strapping down a utv only to see my ratchet straps hanging off the trailer as I look at my review mirror 10 minutes into my trip. Never again! Used these on a 200 mile round trip down all kinds of roads (freeway, country roads, dirt roads, etc) and never had to adjust or tighten them. A must have.


I love the Shock straps. After using them for a year they are still working great. I would recommend to anyone.


Excellent product. The heat does cause the rubber coating on the hooks if they're tied down for any length of time. Sometimes the locking mechanism gets stuck in an in-between position and it's difficult to unlock; however, these are still the best straps I've ever had and I've had zero load shifting problems or broken straps. I will definitely buy a second set.


These straps are great. The are strong and allow for some movement of the motorcycles without have the straps break or come loose. The Harley was transported to Las Vegas and back, 2500 miles with no issues.

I was looking for tie down straps to haul my ATV as well as my garden tractor. The standard straps were okay but did seem to loosen up after traveling for awhile. So I took a chance on these ones based on the details one etrailer as well as reviews. I have not been disappointed. They worked as described and do not loosen in transit. I would definitely purchase again.

Very well thought out product. Works well on the front of my BMW K1600GTL. Allows some movement, to minimize road shock, without allowing the bike to loosen up, especially as the Duolever front does not compress the fork spring when strapped down.


Geesh these are really large! Bought these over the 1.5" as it was almost the same price. But now getting them, I almost wish I got the small version for our Dirt Bikes. But these will for sure more then do! Heck.. I could even use them to pull a car out of a mud pit with these 2"ers. I'll keep them vs swapping for the smaller..
