This step unit is just what we needed for our entrance to our park model/destination trailer. It was easy to assemble and is very sturdy. The landing at the top is a great feature. It is now so much easier to go in and out - for the old lady and for our elderly dog. We looked at fiberglass, but the heavy, chunky designs were ugly. This open unit does not detract from the trailer. The price was also reasonable. Most pre-fab RV steps are a total rip-off price-wise. I highly recommend this product. 95115

Comments
Our step unit has been great as described above. After one year, my only negative is that the black paint should be more durable and also needs a clear coat all over it against the weather. Since these steps sit out all year in EVERY type of weather, here in Ohio, the paint needs more attention. It has gotten chalky and rubs off quite a bit, every time you have to clean off bird pings or mud, etc.We may have to coat the steps ourselves to preserve the paint for the years to come.Im not sure why other folks had so much trouble putting it together. We had very little trouble when we followed the directions. Our box arrived pretty beat up as well, but not as bad as some others. You may want to pad around the unit so the box doesnt collapse, put a second, thicker carton around the package and use a different carrier.

I am going to rate this item excellent. These steps are very sturdy. Not light however at 70 pounds but they do fold up for transporting. We bought the steps to make it easier for our 15 year old Border Collie to get in and out of the trailer. The steps and landing are covered with traction material and prevents her from slipping on the steps. The steps are well made and easy to assemble. I would buy these again; however......... My only complaint is the poor packaging provided by the manufacturer. It does not protect the contents during shipping. This is no fault of etrailer or UPS. The staples that hold the two sides of the box together really beat up the paint job in numerous spots and the bolts were strewn all over the inside of the box, likely adding to the paint damage. I have posted a message on Stromberg Carlson's website as they should be providing better protection in the packaging for their products especially heavy ones such as this. I will keep the steps as I really like them, but I was disappointed in seeing the damaged paint, even if it is only cosmetic. I have not heard back from the manufacturer. Etrailer had the steps in stock and the free UPS shipping was a bonus. I had them within three business days. I have bought from etrailer in the past and will do so in the future. 106585

I was amazed at the fast shipping, we ordered on Saturday and received the steps on Wednesday. A+++. I set up the stairs right away without too much problem. The back right leg looking from the front is twisted slightly and made the bolts difficult to install for the landing. I took a couple of photos but hard to see. Entering and exiting the trailer with the new stairway is much easier and we have been looking for something portable and sturdy for our Grand Design Imagine and we hope this will do. 588853

Comments
We have been very satisfied with the steps, they create a solid platform to enter and exit the trailer, much easier than the stock steps. The only thing is although portable they are awkward to transport. For us they work best when staying an extended time at a location. Great value and quality I would buy again.

As advertised. One problem, a rivet was installed crooked, causing bolts to not line up with holes. Figuring that out and bending one of the supports to force holes to line up took an extra 20 minutes. Kept thinking: the person who did that figured it was "good enough". It wasn't. 828113

The box arrived torn open. I inspected it while the UPS driver was still here and found all the pieces were still in the box. It is a two person job, or at least for me it was. Very easy to assemble. I wish that the steps came in a 30 inch width and that they were a little wider but it still is functional. 805993

The steps arrived in perfect condition. I was afraid the weight might be too much for me the handle when putting it together, but I had no problems (I weigh 105 lbs.). I initially had difficulty understanding how to stand it upright, but once I got that, it went smoothly. It sits very securely, and makes going in and out of my little vintage camper safe. I like that it can be removed and stored in the winter months. 680513

Comments
Ive had the steps for a little over a year and they remain in great condition. We live in a harsh winter area, so I put the steps under the deck for the winter months. I have absolutely no regrets about the purchase.

So far the steps are great. Just what we wanted. But the packaging was terrible!! All the nuts and bolts were all over the place. 1/2 of them were loose in the box and we had to tip them out of the empty box. One long bolt for the stair handle is still missing (and we have looked everywhere - spent a lot of time too). We are going to the hardware store today to get another bolt so we can put the handle on. Not a happy camper about this. 664841

Shipping is very fast, web site is easy to use. The only issue I had was the box the product was delivered in was destroyed, It appeared to be rolled down a hill. The product as intact with a few minor scratches and scuffs but otherwise ok. I will continue to order from etrailer because of the prices and delivery dates 633152

All was well. Fits our needs. The only thing that bugs me is that when I opened the box the nuts and bolts were loose in the box scattering all over. And there was one of of the braces were missing. 616654

We are gate guards in the oil fields and have to go in and out umpteen times a day, so we were looking for steps that would stand up to that kind of traffic and the dust, dirt and moisture of our locations. We believe we have found them in these steps, Very sturdy, and well built. They are solid as we go in and out, we never worry about them moving or shaking. If any one wants well build solid stairs these are the ones to get. They are also easy to put together. The only thing I am concerned about is how to transport them to the next location when we move locations, but I will figure it out. Even broken down they take up a fair amount of space. 591360

The product is very study and has been great for getting my disabled daughter in and out of our camper. The only issues I have is the time it takes to set up and take down and it's heavy and folds down pretty big. The positive definitely out weighs the negatives though. 574222

Just got this and set it up.Setup robably would have been easier if UPS hadn’t treated the package with fragile written all over it like a target they needed to destroy. Fortunately we were able to put it together despite being tweaked a little. Its goingto be perfect for our rv 569458

The stairs themselves are great, they will make it easier for us and our dogs to get in and out of our 5th wheel. The stairs also arrived quickly, just under a week after the order. We are just happy everything arrived ok and complete because the box was in terrible shape when it arrived. It was beat up and partially torn open. You really need to use better boxes after so many reviews saying how the box was in bad shape when it arrived. 560776

From the ground to the top of the platform on the Econo Porch Trailer Step with Handrail # EHS-103-R measures 27-1/2 inches. While I don't know exactly what the distance from the ground to the door threshold is on your 2016 Forest River Cardinal you can use a tape measure to verify that height to determine if this would work well. Most RVs with quadruple steps have a doorway height right at around 30 inches so this should be a really great height for your RV! The picture I attached should...

  • Does the Econo Porch Trailer Step RV Steps with Handrail Fold
The Econo Porch trailer Step with Handrail and Landing # EHS-103-R does fold. This unit folds laterally, in order to fold the steps you would have to detach 8 braces to allow the steps to fold. Then reattach these braces when you were ready to use the steps again. The handrail is also removable and interchangeable to either the right or left hand side. For your reference I have included a photo showing these steps folded.

  • Can Econo Porch Trailer Step with Handrail # EHS-103-R be Used on Fifth Wheel That Sits Higher
The top landing on the Econo Porch Trailer Step with Handrail, # EHS-103-R, sits at 28 inches high. If your fifth wheel trailer sits approximately 7 inches higher, you are correct, it would take one more step to enter your trailer. Please do keep in mind that the hand rail ends at the landing so you would not have one for that last step into the trailer. Other than that, you should have no problems using these steps for your fifth wheel.

  • Will Econo Porch Trailer Step # EHS-103-R Fit Over Existing Steps on Arctic Wolf 5th Wheel Trailer
There are a couple of support straps at the top step/landing that would likely be in the way and prevent Econo Porch Trailer Step # EHS-103-R from fitting around your existing steps. The height from the ground to the top step is 27-1/2 inches. From the ground to where that strap starts is about 18-1/2 inches. If those support straps weren't there then it would most likely work.

The only way to fold the Econo Porch Trailer Step, part # EHS-103-R is to loosen the 2 braces on each step and remove the handrail. This will allow the step to fold down for traveling. I am not sure if that is an easy way, but that is the way the system is designed.
