Video Transcript for Fantastic Vent RV Vents and Fans FVK8017-00 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the replacement fan motor assembly kit for Fantastic Vent Roof Vent Fans. This is going to replace that original vent fan that came with your Fantastic Vent Roof Fan. It's going to have al the same specs as that. It does have the motor already attached with the bowtie bracket on the back. You'll just need to secure that in place on your vent with the screws that came with your kit. There is no hardware that comes with this, so you will have to replace either with the original hardware or pick up some on your own.Has the two wires for your power and ground hookup.

They already come with butt connectors on them, so that's one last step you have to do. This does have to be connected to 12 volt power. As far as the measurements for this fan, from the mounting hole on either side of the bowtie bracket, center on center, that's going to be 11 and a 16th inches from the height of the mounting holes themselves, that's going to be five and 5/16th inches. From the inside edge to inside edge of that bracket, that's going to be 12 and 5/8ths. You can see a little bit better if I hold it in front maybe.

The fan diameter itself, that is going to be 11 and 3/8ths, so that gives you an idea of what that should bit, but it will work with the Fantastic Vent Roof Vans. You can check those part numbers out on our website. This will be a direct replacement from Fantastic Fans, so it should work out well. That's going to do it for our look at the replacement fan motor assembly kit for Fantastic Vent Roof Fans.

My existing fan motor was squeaking when running so I purchased this fan assembly as a replacement. I was extremely disappointed with the fit. First, the bow-tie bracket was a fraction of an inch smaller than my original Fantastic Fan bracket. Therefore, the screw-holes would not line up. I ended up removing the new fan motor from the bracket and installing it into my existing bracket. Then, there are issues with the fan blade dimensions. The overall diameter is ~1" smaller than my original fan blades. Also, the height (or thickness) of the blades and circular ring that is around the outside of the blade tips is greater than my original blades. Furthermore, the fan wobbled slightly during operation. The thicker blades combined with the wobble caused the blades to rub against my temperature sensor each time it made a revolution. I ended up using my old fan blades instead. So the entire repair was very frustrating and took way longer than necessary. As the bracket and fan blades were useless to me, I'm wondering why can't eTrailer just sell the motor? After my frustrating install, I looked at some other reviews and found at lease 1 review from someone who had the same issues. So I'm sure the dimension issues with my assembly are not an isolated incident.

As others have reported, the mounting screw holes are slightly off from the original, but they are close enough to get the screws in at a little angle. I was replacing a 22 year old FanTastic Fan model BV8100R. I was so glad to find this option instead of having to replace the whole thing and mess with removing and resealing. And, I think the new fan moves more air than the original ever did.
by:
I was able to graph this new motor into my older Dometic fan housing and retain all my standard equipment. Thanks for your help Rick.
by:
Easy replacement of an older standard motor fan. I bought it so I could use a flat metal vent cover. I wanted the hail resistance and needed to lower my outfit to get it inside the shop.
by:
Easy to install and in my case this poor guy run 24/7. I just bought another just in case this one need a break.
by:
Works great. Installation was from below. Needed a couple of insulated butt connectors, but nothing that unusual.
by:
The replacement fan assembly works well and is quiet in operation. The only issue was that the screw holes in the support yoke were slightly misaligned with the holes in the fan housing. Close enough to install the screws, but they are slightly crooked and cutting new threads in the plastic.
by:
Item was perfect fit for the old FanTastic model 8000 series fan motor assembly. Thus far, works great. No complaints!
by:
As soon as we received the fan. My husband was able to replace the ole one with e-trailers new fan. Works great and not at all noisy like the old one. Thank you
by:
The product was exactly as described, packaged extremely well shipping was very fast!
by:
Nice enough product. This frame is slightly smaller (about 1/4") and the screw holes do not line up with original fan frame. To center the frame in the opening I needed to use safety wire to attach the new smaller frame screw holes to the screws. (you will need to center the frame to keep the fan from rubbing on the tabs that hold the screen in. I would have given a 4 if the new frame matched exactly the old frame. I would have given a 5 if the plastic frame was a little more robust in its construction
by:
Perfect fit for my 2019 existing fantastic vent. Thank you for selling! Super fast shipping too, arrived two days after ordering!
by:
Minor modifications needed for mounting holes
by:
This was a perfect replacement for a broken Fantastic fan assembly on my 2014 Casita that had cracked due to vibration and age, I assume. Pretty simple job.
by:
Ship fast, but are usps has dumbass issues. Received packed late because it was shipped from Missouri to Cincinnati then back to Missouri then back to Cincinnati then to my address.

Unit arrived sooner than promised. Installation very easy and done from the top. I removed the large vent cover (7/16" socket) then the four screws on the bow-tie. The old unit lifted out but I had to loosen the black (white) lead on the "vent closed" cutoff switch and move it out of the way. The new unit dropped in, bow-tie holes matched perfectly and after putting in the screws, I cut the wires and used the crimp connectors on the new fan to connect to the fixture wiring. I used cable ties to fasten the leads to the bow-tie arms and to gather excess wiring to keep it out of the way. Tools needed: 7/16" socket to remove and install the hood, #2 phillips screwdriver, wire cutter, knife to trim wire, and plier to crimp connector. See pictures. Fan motor does make a different sound than the original but it works and the old one didn't. The fan itself is also about 1/2" less diameter but that doesn't seem to have made a difference in effectiveness.
by:
Perfect replacement for my burnt out fan
by:
Easy installation! The fan blade was about a half short in diameter but the bug screen covered it up. A manual didn't come with the shipment. However, Amy from customer service got me all of the information I needed to complete the install. Thanks again and I highly recommend this unit for a Fantastic RV vent fan replacement.

@Wayne Glad to hear it Wayne! What kind of camper did this go in?
by:
The motor works fine but I had to reuse my old fan blades because the new blades were warped & out of balance.
by:
Fit perfectly as advertised!
by:
It is exactly the same as my old one, cleaner and not as noisy as the old one. Was easy to install, and happy with the final results. THANKS
by:

Glad to hear it, Mark! Always happy to see vintage still looking vintage out there! Out of curiosity, what year is your Airstream?

by:
This is the original Atwood equipment, not a copy. I am using it to retrofit into the original vent on a 1967 Airstream Globetrotter. Attached photo is the fitment trial, it should be perfect. I have 1-1/2 inch aluminum angle to make mounting brackets to use the original holes in the Airstream and the fan. Will probably use a radiator mounting kit to install it on springs.
by:
Was able to install into original 1967 vent, by making a mount with some aluminum angle. Quality original fantastic fan part
