Features to know about

Bolt-On System Installs Without Welding

Backing plate and bracket close-up

Most folks want fixed ramps but don't want to mess with hauling their trailer to a shop or paying for welding work. This setup bolts right to the frame with basic tools, giving you ramps that stay put and are ready when you need them. No shop time and no committing to permanent changes.

Ramps Latch Upright for Safer Handling

Trailer loaded and ramps latched in the upright position

Anyone who has dealt with ramps that aren't secured knows how easily they can fall off the trailer when you're moving around it. It's one of those things you only have to experience once before you start watching your shins. On this setup, the ramps latch upright when you're not loading, so they stay put instead of surprising you or getting in the way while you work around the trailer.

Keyed Alike Latch Locks Help Protect Your Gear

Close-up of latch lock

Loose ramps have a way of disappearing. Someone borrows them, forgets to put them back, or takes the chance to grab them when you're not around. These ramps stay secured to your trailer, and the keyed alike latch locks let you keep them upright so they can't be dropped or used to take equipment off your trailer without you knowing.

Anti-Rattle Hardware for Quieter Towing

Person tightening anti-rattle knob

It doesn't take long before some ramp setups start clattering on the road. That noise usually comes from hardware that has loosened over time. This system uses a tight-fitting anti-rattle component designed to cut that movement down. The ramps ride quieter, so you are not listening to metal chatter every time you hit a bump.

Greaseable Index Bar for Longer Life

Close up of grease zerk fitting

If you load equipment often, you know how dirt and debris work their way into moving parts. The grease zerks for the index bars let you keep the engagement points serviced, so everything moves smoothly. A little maintenance goes a long way in keeping the system working like it should.

Strength Tested for the Work You Actually Do

UTV driving up on ramp

Anyone can claim their ramps are strong, but you find out what they are really made of once you start loading the heavier stuff week after week. This system went through static and vibration testing to make sure the hardware stays tight and the mounts hold up. It is designed to handle the kind of loading most folks deal with all season long.

These etrailer Rapid Ramps make life so much easier. Once you get the brackets installed which does require a little drilling into the trailer frame they are incredibly convenient to use. I really like how the ramps slide back and forth to accommodate different widths. I use them to load my Polaris into the trailer and they work great.

Another nice feature is the lever that lets you fold the ramps up and down easily.

They can also be locked in the stowed position so I don’t have to keep taking them on and off the trailer. Overall super handy and well thought out. Probably the best thing I’ve put on my trailer in terms of convenience.

  • Do etrailer RapidRamps For Trailers Lock When Folded Up, Or Do I Need Straps Or Pins To Keep Still?
Hey Brian, the ramps automatically latch when you fold them straight up into the vertical position. On a 5 foot wide trailer using # e37XV or # e47XV, that latch holds the ramps upright without straps, pins, or extra steps. They stay locked in place until you intentionally release them. There’s also an optional anti-rattle adjustment knob you can tighten to reduce movement on rough roads, but the latch itself is what secures the ramps and the knob is there just to fine tune any wobble. • Bolt On Aluminum Ramp Kit For Trailer That Uses Heavy Angle Iron Ramps That Are Not Long Enough
That’s a great question, Angela - and you’re definitely not alone there. The easiest way is to measure the clear deck width at the very back of the trailer, where the ramps will mount, making sure there aren’t side rails or stake pockets in the way. If that measurement falls between 5 and 6-1/2 feet, you’ll be looking at either the # e37XV 5 foot ramps or # e47XV 6 foot ramps. If it’s wider than that, you’ll step up to the 5 foot # e97XV or 6 foot # e67XV kits that are for wider trailers. Once...

  • Adjustable Width Trailer Ramps For Loading Equipment With Different Tire Widths
Yes, they can, Chris. With both 6 foot RapidRamp kits # e47XV and # e67XV, the ramps slide side-to-side along the index bars so you can line them up with different tire widths. Once lifted back in the upright position, they latch in place, and you can optionally snug down the anti-rattle knob to limit movement while towing. The adjustability is a big upgrade over fixed weld-on ramps or loose sets that never seem to land where you want them. If you aren't sure which 6 foot ramp kit to...

  • Upgrading Heavy Angle Iron Ramps On Trailer To Bolt-On Folding Aluminum Ramps
Mark, that’s exactly the problem RapidRamps were designed to fix. And I understand the frustration as I currently use 3 foot long heavy angle-iron steel ramps on my Big Tex car hauler. I plan to upgrade to one of these kits. Once you install a RapidRamps kit - whether that’s a 5' option like # e37XV (5 - 6-1/2' wide trailers) or # e97XV (over 6-1/2' wide), or a 6' kit like # e47XV (5 - 6-1/2' wide trailers) or # e67XV (over 6-1/2' wide trailers) - the ramps stay bolted to the trailer full-time,...

  • Which RapidRamps Bolt On Trailer Ramp Kit Is Best For My Car Hauler Trailer?
Hey there Daniel - it really depends on your trailer height and what you’re loading. The 6' RapidRamps kits (part numbers # e47XV for 5–6-1/2' wide trailers and # e67XV for trailers over 6-1/2' wide) give you a gentler approach angle, which is ideal for low-clearance equipment, cars, or heavier UTVs. The 5' RapidRamps kits (part numbers # e37XV for 5–6-1/2' wide trailers and # e97XV for over 6-1/2' wide trailers) still support the same weight but are often a better fit if your trailer...

  • Folding Trailer Ramp Add-On Kit For 6 Foot Wide Trailer To Haul Lawn Tractor And Car
Aaron, since your trailer falls in the 5 - 6-1/2 foot width range, your two options are the 5' RapidRamps kit # e37XV or the 6' RapidRamps kit # e47XV. For low-clearance equipment like a lawn tractor mower, the 6' kit is usually the better choice because it gives you a gentler approach angle and reduces the chance of scraping when loading. The 5' kit can still work if your trailer deck sits lower to the ground or you’re limited on space behind the trailer, but most people loading mowers,...

  • Do The 5 Foot etrailer RapidRamps Have Same Strength And Weight Rating As 6 Foot Ramps?
Hey Kevin; you don’t give up capacity by going shorter, or by selecting the ramp kit for a wider trailer. All RapidRamps kits are rated at 3,000 lbs per ramp (enough for 6,000lb vehicle) - so the 5' kits # e37XV (for 5 - 6-1/2' wide trailers) and # e97XV (for over 6-1/2' wide trailers) have the same per-ramp rating as the 6' kits # e47XV and # e67XV. Ramp length here only affects approach angle and clearance, not strength. If your trailer deck is low enough already or space behind the...

  • No Weld Bolt-On Aluminum Trailer Ramps That Fold Up Like A Gate When Not In Use
Hey Steve! Yes, each RapidRamps kit is a complete, all-in-one setup. Since your trailer is between 5 and 6-1/2 feet wide, you’d be looking at # e37XV 5 foot ramps or # e47XV 6 foot ramps, and both include the ramps, index bars, brackets, backing plates, and hardware needed to bolt directly to a wood trailer deck. There’s no welding and nothing extra to buy. Once installed, the ramps stay on the trailer full-time, so you’re not hauling or storing loose ramps anymore. If you’re unsure whether...

  • Aluminum Lightweight Ramps To Bolt On Back Of Utility Trailer For Loading Zero Turn Mower
Tyler, with a 6-foot-wide trailer, you’re in the 5 - 6-1/2 foot width range, so the two kits that fit are # e37XV 5 foot ramps and # e47XV 6 foot ramps. For a zero-turn mower, the 6 foot RapidRamps kit # e47XV is usually the better choice because the extra ramp length gives you a smoother approach angle and helps prevent deck or blade scrape. The 5 foot version can work on lower trailers, but for mowers and equipment with long wheelbases, most folks are happier with the 6 foot setup. ...

  • Options For Adding Bolt-On Aluminum Ramps That Lock In Upright Position On Trailer For Loading Cars
Good morning Brandon. With a trailer in the 5 - 6-1/2 foot width range, your options are RapidRamps kit # e37XV (5 foot ramps) or # e47XV (6 foot ramps). Since your trailer sits lower to the ground, the 5 foot RapidRamps # e37XV can work very well and gives you a more compact setup behind the trailer. The 6 foot version does add a gentler angle, but it’s not always necessary on lower decks. If space behind the trailer is tight or you want to keep things shorter, # e37XV is a solid choice. If...

  • Upgrading To Folding Aluminum Ramps At Back Of 6 by 12 Utility Trailer - Bolt On Solution
Kevin, since your trailer measures about 72 inches wide (6 feet) inside the rails, you’ll want one of the 5–6-1/2' wide trailer kits, not the over-width versions. The included slide bar / load bar needs to match this width range. From there, the main decision is ramp length. For loading a side-by-side and a zero-turn mower, the 6' RapidRamps kit, part # e47XV, is usually the better choice because it gives you a gentler approach angle and more clearance for that type of equipment. If...

  • Can Aluminum Trailers Ramps In RapidRamps Kit Be Adjusted For Different Width Vehicles?
Yep, that flexibility is built right in, Chris. The ramps slide side-to-side along the index bars on all RapidRamps kits, whether you’re looking at the 5' options (# e37XV for 5 - 6-1/2' wide trailers or # e97XV for over 6-1/2' wide) or the 6' kits (# e47XV for 5 - 6-1/2' wide trailers and # e67XV for over 6-1/2' wide). That lets you line the ramps up with your tires whether you’re loading a narrow mower or a wider UTV or car. Once they’re positioned, they latch in place and you can optionally...
