Bolt On Aluminum Ramp Kit For Trailer That Uses Heavy Angle Iron Ramps That Are Not Long Enough

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 02/02/2026

Question:

I don’t know my trailer width offhand, but it’s a single-axle landscape trailer and I’m tired of wrestling loose ramps every time. How do I figure out which RapidRamps kit I need?

That’s a great question, Angela - and you’re definitely not alone there.

The easiest way is to measure the clear deck width at the very back of the trailer, where the ramps will mount, making sure there aren’t side rails or stake pockets in the way. If that measurement falls between 5 and 6-1/2 feet, you’ll be looking at either the # e37XV 5 foot ramps or # e47XV 6 foot ramps. If it’s wider than that, you’ll step up to the 5 foot # e97XV or 6 foot # e67XV kits that are for wider trailers.

Once width is nailed down, ramp length is really about what you’re loading and how steep your trailer is. If you want, tell me what kind of equipment you’re loading and roughly how high your trailer deck sits, and I can point you to the best match.

I measured today. trailer is 6 feet wide and the deck is pretty low, maybe 15 inches. Mostly loading a riding mower and small tractor.

@Angela Nice, that makes it easy. With a 6-foot-wide trailer, you’d be choosing between # e37XV (5') and # e47XV (6'). Since your deck is only about 15 inches high, the 5 foot ramps should give you a good angle for that mower and tractor. If you ever plan to haul something even lower such as a low down sports car, then the 6 foot would be better.
