Strength, versatility and Convert-A-Ball quality combine in this bolt-on pintle hitch/ball mount combo. It includes 3 interchangeable, stainless steel hitch balls (GTW is 3,500 lbs to 10,000 lbs) and a pintle sleeve adapter (GTW is 25,000 lbs).

To use the unit as a pintle hitch, simply slip the stainless steel pintle sleeve over the 1" diameter hitch ball shank. Once in place, the sleeve accepts the lunette ring on the trailer, and the handle comes over and locks in place to create a strong, reliable pintle hitch with a towing capacity of 25,000 lbs. Backed up by the security of a double-locking system, this pintle hook combo offers safety, versatility and performance for those towing with a lunette ring.
To use the unit as a ball hitch, simply slip any size Convert-A-Ball stainless steel hitch ball onto the ball shank after the pintle sleeve has been removed. As a ball hitch, the PH1 maintains its strong performance, with a towing capacity up to 10,000 lbs.
Step by Step
To Install Pintle Sleeve:
First, remove manual safety pin. Next, pull out silver knob on lower, left-hand side of unit while lifting up on handle - this will disengage the pintle lock. Place the pintle sleeve over the ball shank. Now that both locks have been unlatched, you can rotate handle to a position directly above the pintle sleeve. Release silver knob, and handle's spring-loaded lock will snap down on sleeve, automatically engaging. Re-insert safety pin for extra security, and you're set to go.
To Remove Pintle Sleeve:
Remove safety pin, pull out silver knob and lift pintle handle while rotating it 90 degrees to the side. The handle will automatically snap into place in "self-parked" position. Last, remove sleeve and re-insert safety pin.
To Install Hitch Ball:
Remove the manual safety pin, move pintle handle to "self-park" position and double-check that it is fully engaged. Note: Do not try to latch the handle when using a ball coupler because this will interfere with and possibly damage the ball mount and coupler.
After re-installing safety pin, choose appropriate ball size. Locate dimple on ball's side and push integrated pin completely through ball. Place ball on ball mount shank, line up pin with shank hole, and push pin back through. Coupler will completely cover ball during travel, ensuring that pin cannot work loose. To remove, simply reverse the process.
This Convert-A-Ball pintle hook combo is certified V-5 by the THMA and meets SAE standard J-847.

The product looks good, but when I discussed using on my on my Land Rover Discovery I was told it would work very well towing my 24 Ft. Travel Trailer but I should have been told to use a stabilizer rather than this product. Now i’m Out 180.00....and looking for adequate stabilizer.

Neat and sturdy. No more flipping a three way hitch or looking for where you placed your 2 in vs 1 5/8" hitch.
I am a big fan of this Convert-A-Ball set.
It is not easy to find anymore, and I found it easy to purchase through etrailer.
I know a lot of people no longer supply these because people use them incorrectly. I plan to purchase more of these, and hope that etrailer continues to provide them.

Great Product, Best PricePerfect pintle hitch combo, tired of having to switch out hitches, this is the ticket, bought one for my F-450, going to get another for my receiver, and sell all the other ones I have.
Best EverThis is the best hitch system ever, before this I would have to change my hitch to haul something else with my F-450, now it's a snap. I'm planing on getting one to slide in my 2" reciever on my F-250, one set up does it ALL.
Wow! I was blown away with the quality with this hitch. I highly recommend this one if you haul anything with a pintle as it reduces the slack that normally occurs with a 2" ball mounted on a pintle.

What a hassle it used to be for me always switching between a pintle and 2" Ball. Heavy lifting. Figuring out where to leave the removed hitch, which I usually just left on the ground next to where I park my truck (even in winter). I generally swap out the hitch every day to go between different trailers and this has been a LIFESAVER as I get older.
I almost bought one of the 'cool" brand hitches just to be 'cool', but I'm so HAPPY I happened across this hitch when looking to purchase.

If your looking for a hitch 4 in 1 with the highest lb per each ball, look no further, i looked for you. I know that those that own a tuck woth a bolt on hitch we usually only have 2 options, 2" ball and pital hook or a 2 5/16" ball and pital hook. But with 5 different trailers and one hitch that wont work. This is he best 4 in 1 set up around. The rating of lb per ball is the highest around. Made very very well. Changing a ball is a 5 second thing. Had it for over a year and used ir and abused it.. If your looking for one Buy it without thinking, wont find one cheaper or better, sorry.

Convert-a-ball hitch is Boss! I bought my first one from a local retailer back in 2001, when it became time to replace it no one locally knew what I was talking about. After researching online I finally found it on etrailer's website reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who needs versatility and convenience this hitch does it all.
I was looking for a fix to the problem of not being able to haul our small trailer behind our 1 to dump truck. The truck had a pintle hitch with a 2-5/16 ball on it and our small trailer has a 2" ball so a big pain to change it all the time. But now we have the convert-a ball pintle hitch combo. Problem solved. We can make the change in a snap with no tools needed.
The hitch works as designed. Changing out the balls sizes is easy. I wish there was a better way to secure the pin in the ball. The o-ring shrinks over time and can rattle out. I always remove the pin and ball when the trailer is disconnected.
