Review of Convert-A-Ball Pintle Hitch PH1

Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Convert-A-Ball Pintle Hook Combo with three stainless steel hitch balls. Now, this unit's gonna offer towing convenience and versatility. It converts quickly and easily from a pintle to a standard ball mount. No tools are needed. Everything's built into the unit. So, if you're looking for a way to tow a trailer with a lunette ring, as well as a 2 5/16 inch, 2 inch, or 1 7/8 inch coupler, then this would be a really great solution for you.

It is equipped with double-engagement, rust-resistant locking system to secure the lunette ring. And it's going to bolt to a standard pintle mount, or a Convert-A-Ball cushioned mount, as well as reinforced bumpers on utility trucks. Mounting hardware is included. It's gonna come with three interchangeable hitch balls. So again, you're gonna have a 2 5/16 inch, 2 inch, and 1 7/8 inch ball. It's gonna come with this pintle sleeve right here, as well as your mounting hardware.

It's also gonna come with your installation instructions. The hitch balls, the shank, which is underneath or inside of this sleeve right now, and the pintle sleeve are made from stainless steel. The base is made from steel with a durable black powder coated finish. So, the whole unit is very strong and durable, and it's designed to resist rust and corrosion and last a long time. I do want to point out that located right here is the built in grease Zerk. That's gonna allow for easy maintenance.

That way you can just attach a grease gun, pump in the grease to lubricate the internal components. The product is made in the USA. I just want to go ahead and show you how it functions real quick. What you'll need to do is pull this pin and clip. It's tethered on there, so you don't have to worry about misplacing that or losing that.

Then you're gonna have a pull pin, which is right here. It's spring loaded. So what you'll do is you'll pull this. Lift up. And this area right here is simply a handle. So, you lift up, swing that out of the way, it engages in that position. It could also be swung around and engaged in that position. So it does swing to either way. Then you're gonna have the pintle sleeve. So whenever you're towing a trailer with a lunette ring, you'll want to use this component right there. When you're ready to add on a hitch ball, all you need to do is . I, this piece right here, this pin that's tethered on, it fits perfectly in here. Push out that pin. It will not come out all the way, so you don't have to worry about misplacing that or losing it. It's also got a built in seal right there to keep dirt and moisture out of that area. So grab whatever ball you need, pull that pin out, put it onto the post, push it back in until it seats flush. Now you're ready to hook up to a trailer that has as 2 5/16 inch coupler on it. You would do that same thing for a 2 inch or 1 7/8 inch ball as well. All of those are included. I also have part number AMPC3 here. This would be a Convert-A-Ball cushioned mount. I just want to show you that these two pieces, they would match up perfectly together. The holes are perfectly spaced apart. It's going to have the exact same finishing. And this would be an option of what this combo unit would actually mount to. But, it's a really nice design. It's very easy to use. And of course, you always want to make sure to reinsert the pin and clip into the appropriate spot there on the other side. Now, when it comes to the pintle hitch, it's gonna work with lunette rings that have an inner diameter of 3 inches. Maximum outer diameter of 6 3/8 inch, and maximum ring cross-section of 1 5/8 inch. When using it as a pintle hitch you're gonna have a towing capacity of up to 25,000 pounds, tongue weight capacity of 5,000 pounds. When using it as a ball mount, again, you're gonna have the three different size hitch balls to choose from. The towing capacity for the 2 inch and 2 5/16 inch balls is gonna be 10,000 pounds. Towing capacity for the 1 7/8 inch ball is 3,500 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 5,000 pounds. Your mount holes here on the back, they're separated side to side, center on center by 3 3/8 inch apart. Up and down, center on center, they're separated on center by 1 3/4 inch apart. That's gonna do it for today's look at the Convert-A-Ball Pintle Hook Combo with three stainless steel hitch balls.
