Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the Curt Channel-Mount Forge Pintle and Ball. This pintle hook and hitch ball combo allows you to hitch up a heavy duty trailer. The pintle hook connects to lunette ring couplers, and then the hitch ball connects to standard ball couplers. Now, this hitch ball can be removed if it's ever damaged or if you need a different size. The unit is constructed of sturdy steel. We have a nice black powder coated finish on the pintle and a chrome plating on the hitch ball to resist rust and corrosion. Now, this is designed to mount to an adjustable shank with pins and clips or pins and locks.
This is an example of an adjustable shank and this would fit right into the channel, and then you could slide it up or down to make your adjustments and get the height that you need for your application. The adjustable shank is sold separately, they're available here at etrailer.com.Right here is the included safety pin for the pintle latch that's held to the unit with a chain lanyard so you don't accidentally lose it or misplace it. You take that off, lift up on this lever right here and then pull the unit back. That allows it to go to the open position so you an connect your lunette ring coupler or you could connect to a standard trailer coupler. Then this can be reinstalled to hold it in that position as well.
Then when you're ready to bring this back down, use the latch to do so and then reinstall the pin and clip. The product's made in the USA. It is designed to fit a 3 inch wide channel bracket, so we can tell that by taking a measurement here at the back, edge to edge is about 3 inches wide. This unit offers a gross towing weight capacity of 13,000 pounds. The hitch ball is a 2-5/16 inch ball, and then the ball hole diameter, that's the hole that the shank of the hitch ball goes through, that's an inch and a 1/4. The mount holes on this unit right here are separated on center apart from one another by 2 inches.
This will work with lunette rings that have an inner eye diameter of 2-1/2 or 3 inches. Then the space from the back of the hitch ball to this point right here, so this space right here measures 1-3/4 of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the Curt Channel-Mount Forge Pintle and Ball.
