Pivoting Upright Arms with Adjustable Bridges

Saris MHS pivoting upright arms

The MHS has pivoting upright arms that grab your bike firmly by the wheel, so it won't scratch or scuff the paint. These upright arms allow you to rapidly load and unload your bike. Simply set your bike onto the tray and pivot the upright arms against the tires. Ratchets hold the arms in place, so once you squeeze the arms against the wheels there's nothing left to do. To unload your bike, press in the gray lever on each arm to release the ratchets and raise the arms up.

Saris MHS pivoting upright arms

Each arm has a bridge that is pre-marked for various bike tire sizes to ensure a perfect fit. To adjust, slide the bridge to the indicated tire size, and re-insert the pin.

Grooved Wheel Tray

Saris MHS wheel traycable locks

The MHS doesn't have cradles for the wheels like many platform-style bike racks have. Instead, it has a wheel tray with a groove that accommodates narrow 18c road bike tires up to 5.0" fat bike tires. A wheel chock at the front of the tray prevents your bike from rolling, and a sliding ratchet strap on each tray adds extra security so your rear wheel doesn't bounce while you're driving.

Front-Mounted Handle for Easy Tilting and Folding

Saris MHS front-mounted hand levercable locks

The rack tilts down with your bikes loaded. So, whether you're at the trail or the grocery store, you don't have to remove your bikes to access your cargo area. It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

Saris MHS folded away from vehicle

To make tilting and folding easier, the MHS's release lever is mounted on the front of the rack. This means you won't have to reach through or around your bikes with one hand to reach the lever, while supporting the rack's weight with the other, when lowering the rack. Instead, you'll be able to hold the rack with both hands the entire time.

Complete Security

Saris MHS loaded on vehiclecable locks

The rack includes a threaded hitch pin that serves as an anti-wobble device to eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. A lock on the hitch pin secures the rack to your vehicle. It also includes an integrated cable lock that threads around your bikes' frame and inserts into the lock that slides along the cable. The cable stores inside the wheel tray when not in use. The locks are keyed alike so you only need to use 1 key.

Saris MHS hitch compatibility

The rack works with both 1-1/4" and 2" hitches. To use it in a 1-1/4" hitch, simply remove the adapter with the included Allen key.

Delivery time from date of purchase to actual shipping was a stretch of time but kept me posted.Arrival of package was in great shape.Super job guys

by:

E-trailer was great, rack showed up on time. Just know this thing is massive. It came in 4 large boxes. But was very easy to put together and understand. Have yet to use it as it is a Family Christmas Present. We have 3 big E-bikes so this is one of the only racks we could find that worked. E trailer was easy to work with!! Let hope for the best!!

by:

This is a very heavy duty product. Great for E bikes for a family of four. I did need to add shock absorbers because of the extra weight it added, and it is very helpful to have a second hand to put it on the hitch because it is heavy.

by:

Everything was in good order.
Thanks
for your help!

I had several question prior to purchasing this and Joshua took a lot of time and did some research for me to help me make the decision. Never had an unanswered question from etrailer.com, even thought I could not get the answers from Saris I got them from Joshua. I'm very happy with my purchase. I spoke with Jerry when I purchased this and I have no complaints at all. Etrailer is the ideal place to make your purchases and they go all out to answer, and/or find the answer to questions.

by:

I have purchased Saris before that was made in USA! They claim their bike racks are made in the USA? The rack looks and works great! The box says Made In China. One of the main reason I wanted this was they are made in USA!! China!!

by:

The plastic piece that houses the locking cable was not secured from production. The hardware was not installed like the other bike tray. I’m just a little disappointed since the product is made in the USA. I for some reason expect better quality and quality control.

by:

Quick delivery, excellent products from etrailer.

by:

Very sturdy and easy to put together. The arms only touch the tires of your bike, so nothing gets scratched.
etrailer customer service is also excellent. I emailed with a couple of their representatives in regards to questions I had about the shipping status and everyone was super helpful and very friendly.

by:

This modular rack system is extremely heavy-duty, but is also very easy to assemble and install. Excellent quality and is plenty sturdy enough for my 70 pound e-bike. I did buy an extra tie down strap for the front tire, like the one for the back tire, as well as a wheel block that is made for bikes with fenders.

by:

I'm using a ratchet strap to keep rack in hitch

That's not really something I would advise doing, Tim. Why are you doing this instead of using the threaded hitch pin?

by:

This racks holds my bike tightly, it's not coming off. I will also hold bikes with linger wheelbases or E-bikes that are heaver. One thing that I don't like is that is on the heavy side.

I have now had the rack for over a year. I use to haul my Obera Wild E-Bike. It hold the bike secure. I have had no problems.

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2023 Toyota Prius LE
Hey Carrie. To add a hitch to your 2023 Toyota Prius LE, you'll want the Curt item # C67RJ. This class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver has a 200 lbs tongue weight capacity. This is the highest rated hitch for you Prius. For a bike rack that holds a 50 lbs 100 lbs bike you're going to be pretty limited with a class I hitch. • Single Bike Platform Bike Rack that Can Switch Between Bike Wheel Diameter Sizes Easily
Hey Charlie, since you have multiple bike wheel sizes I would actually go a different route with the Saris MHS Duo part # SAR23MR since it can switch between wheel sizes without requiring tools like the Hollywood Racks # HLY47RR requires. This rack also sits lower too so it would be much easier to allow your tailgate to fold down when a bike isn't loaded. Do you think this rack would work for you?

Hi Jose! You didn't mention if you have a 2016 Mazda 3 Sedan or Hatchback, so I have options for hitches on both. Sedan: EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # 306-X7303 Sedan or Hatchback: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11377 If you have the Sedan, definitely grab the EcoHitch. The 2" receiver gives you significantly more options for carrying a bike rack. I did see one review online (I went through a lot of different sites) that said...

Hey Diana, welcome! We don't have a custom fit front hitch for your ProMaster, unfortunately, but you can use a universal trailer hitch like the Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13701. This trailer hitch fits frames 18" to 51" wide, has a 2" class III receiver, and a nice 5,000 lb capacity! Hey James; I would be happy to bless you with my recommendation for the best setup. There is a lot to consider with bike racks, especially with heavier e-bikes, so it is easy to get overwhelmed. It looks like your link didn't come through so I'm going to use the Basalt ST 2.0 specs from the MOKWheel site since that is the only Basalt 2.0 I see listed. • Single Bike Rack Recommendation for Carrying Bike with Short Fender
For your bike that has a short fender the best single bike rack solution would be the Saris MHS Bike Rack part # SAR23MR which holds the tires further out from the RockyMounts you referenced as well as other options. If you have larger fenders your best option would be the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 which is a 2 bike rack.
