Thule TracRac T-Rac Pro2 Dimensions

Clamp-On Installation

Thule TracRac Pro2 Clamps

The T-Rac Pro2 mounts quickly and easily to your truck bed rails. Simply position the bases of the rack where indicated in the included instructions and secure them with the provided clamps. Each support base is held in place by 2 heavy-duty aluminum clamps. Torque the clamps down to ensure a substantial connection and you're good to go.

Toolbox Mounting Kit

Thule TracRac Pro2 Toolbox Mount

Included with the T-Rac Pro2 is a toolbox mounting kit that lets you mount your crossover-style toolbox without having to drill into your truck bed rails. Within this kit are 4 aluminum clamps that attach to your truck's side rails in much the same way as the mounting clamps. Each clamp has a pre-drilled hole in its center and comes with the hardware required to attach your crossover toolbox.

Thule TracRac Slotted Crossbars

The sturdy aluminum crossbars on all Thule TracRac truck racks feature integrated slots for mounting and easily adjusting accessories, such as the included load stops. These slots appear on both the top and bottom of the bars for the ultimate in mounting versatility.

A built-in trip strip at the front of each crossbar shields the slots from wind, maintaining the aerodynamic quality of the bars and preventing that annoying whistle you often find with slotted bars.

Included Tie-Downs

Thule TracRac Load Stop Accessories

Included with the T-Rac Pro2 are 8 tie-down accessories. The 4 load stops are designed to mount in the slots of the crossbars and slide along them for quick, easy adjustment. To adjust a load stop, simply twist the quick-release knob, slide the load stop to the desired position, and then tighten the knob to secure the load stop in place. These bookend-style pieces help to hold ladders and lumber in place on the crossbars. They also have built-in loops for securing tie-down straps.

Thule TracRac ARC Side Cleats

The 4 cleats attach at any of the provided mounting points along the outside of the upright supports so that you can tie down items that require additional anchoring or that sit in your truck bed.

Sturdy, Rustproof Construction

The T-Rac Pro2 rack system is constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum. Because aluminum is lighter than steel - the material most often used for truck racks - only a small percentage of your truck's cargo capacity is taken up by the rack itself, enabling you to pack on more weight than you could with a steel system.

Even though aluminum is already rustproof, Thule TracRac has taken the extra step of adding a dual powder coat finish to further protect the rack. The electrostatic powder coat (e-coat) clings to the metal surface better than traditional paint finishes for a more durable covering. The second coat is a clear finish that adds extra shine and protection from scuffs and scratches.

Order confirmed on Nov. 28, shipped Nov. 30th Arrived Dec. 2nd. Very pleased with the prompt delivery this time of year. Opened the box and the racks look fantastic. Can’t wait to get them on as I am in the beginning stages of building 12x16 shed, and will need the racks to transport rafters.

These are the best looking racks in the neighborhood, they are also very user friendly. The top clamps keep boards from shifting and the cleats on the towers let me tie things down without a lot of knots. I am a happy camper. I would definitely purchase from this company in the future.

I received exactly what I ordered. I am so happy with my purchase, and it will not be the last one either. Great service

Not as good as my original TracRac set, that wouldn't fit my new truck, but still very good. Two, maybe three points for you.
The way I tie my loads to the racks, I use heavy cord, the ties that now come with them are not as easy to use as the older nautical cleats. (They would make a nice option)
This is a Toyota problem more than yours but the rear rack cannot be put to the back of the bed rail because of your rail fasteners and the shape of the bed. My truck is a short bed so fastening the rear rack as far back as possible was important. It would almost help if one rack has a longer "foot" that could be fastened more securely. I understand making both front and back the same, makes for easier manufacture but I see it as a design flaw. With the photos beside the type of pickup, the rear rack connection shows how Toyota curved the bed rail in a little at the back (no idea why they did that) but you can see it in how the shadow is gone toward the very back of the foot. To set it on the rail the way you expect would mean moving it forward by almost 8 inches. On a short bed truck that puts the racks too close together.
Also my old set had gussets supporting the upright and the foot. Maybe yours are engineered to be sufficiently strong but I do feel like I could pull the rack out of the foot when tying front and back together. Don't know for sure, just a feeling.
And maybe another issue, while I'm on a roll, the connectors have only the Allen fastener which would be ok if it had a bolt type head not a smooth head to make the final tightening to be done with a wrench not just the Allen wrench.
Great product, works well.
Thank you

First let me say I’m perfectly satisfied with these racks. They have only been installed a few days so I have not had a chance to load them up yet, but I’m confident they will work as advertised as they seem very sturdy and well built. That said, here is a listing of a few issues I have which prevent me from giving this system a 5 Rating.
- Installation was fairly straight forward however parts did not completely match the instructions (attached). The Modular Clamp, item Q, differed from what is depicted in the instruction (see photos of actual part). The Clamps provided have T shaped feature which slides in the track of the Toyota track bed. This is actually a good making the installation more secure without the need for additional parts.
- The threaded hole in Modular Clamp for Bolt O, however, was partially filled with the coating material which made it difficult to install the bolts. I mounted the clamps in a vice to get the necessary leverage to initially screw in the bolts. This made final installation easier and by using Loc-Tite (as recommended) , I’m not concerned with the bolts backing off.
- My installation did not involve working around a tool box, however, that portion of the instructions was not very clear in my opinion. Also, Part V, Clamp Foot, was NOT included in my parts package. And since my Modular Clamps (Q) differ from what is shown in the instructions, not sure how they would work for the tool box configuration.
- Both the instructions and the Video Review depict the Crossbars (F) with notches in the upper and lower tracks to facilitate installation of the corner braces and Crossbar Tie Downs/Load Stops. Neither of my Crossbars have the notches machined in. In the case of the corner braces, this means they need to be installed on the cross bar before installing the uprights

The new rack looks great and I was able to do the assembly myself. Only problem was one bracket wasn’t drilled by the manufacturer and I drilled it myself.
I do not hear any whistling from the rack while driving.

by:

The truck racks work great, I was thinking my 17 foot canoe was too long to haul on the Tacoma until I installed these. - thanks

by:

Seems like a solid rack. I expect it is overkill for a couple of kayaks or canoe, but there are not a lot of options to fit a Ford Super Duty pickup.

I assembled it in about an hour and a half. It would have been faster, but I had to run a tap through the holes on all of the bedrail clamps. The box arrived open, with most staples only through one layer of cardboard on the box, but the internal packaging was excellent and all the parts were there.
Subtracted a star for the packaging and poor hole tapping.

by:

Awesome rack, took me a bit to put it together but I wanted it perfect.

by:

The quality of the Thule T-Rac Pro 2 is very good and will last forever (never go back to steel). I have a short-bed GMC 2500HD and the storage space overhead for ladders, aluminum planks, 12 - 16 foot boards, etc. is a game-changer. However, I ordered extra load stops and M8 knobs direct from Thule and they did not include the screws to mount the stops (don't even list them in their catalog). I deduct 2 stars for Thule support being a pain

by:

Life is busy and I finally got my racks installed. They are perfect for what I need. I own a small construction company and I drive a 2012 Tacoma with a 6' bed (side rails, etc). I was concerned that the side rails would not work with the rack or there would be a shipping or part issue - I was wrong! The design is fantastic, light, and able to carry1k pounds.
The Tacoma bed design means that my racks are only about 5'4" apart. I was hoping for a greater distance apart, but this will work fine. I will need to order the roof cantilever portion if I'm hoping to carry small trim pieces without additional support for the material.
Thank you to Andrew (Andy) for the support and helping me to know that I was getting the correct rack for my truck.

by:

Really nice heavy duty rack. I was able to mount it on my Pace Edwards full metal Jackrabbit bed cover with Explorer rails. Just had to drill two holes in each mounting plate and grind some carriage bolts to fit in the slots.
One complaint... I don't understand why one top rail has an opening in the slot for installing accessories and the other top rail does not. I have to take the end cap off to install anything.

by:

The Trac Pro2 is awesome. Delivered with all the parts needed for fairly simple installation. The threads to the clamps are really really tight so it take a fair amount force with and allen wrench. An allen attachment for a ratchet set would have helped.
The clamps fit in the Tacoma rails for a perfect fit. No need to cut the truck bed or remove the rails. Although rated at 1000 pound capacity, I'll use it with kayaks, canoes and occasionally a load of lumber.
For now, I'm keeping the adjustable tie-downs stowed.

by:

Easy to assemble and good looking on my Tundra. My only complaint is when its loaded down the Over-the-Cab Extension squeaks a lot and is minorly annoying. You will also notice that the overhang sits about 1.25-1.5 inches higher than the back cross members, it did level out as I added weight and can only guess this is to keep pressure on the load to help protect your cab?

I will add a photo of my Tundra carrying 20 27ft tipi poles (added a front support) which they claimed was about 560 lbs or so.

by:

I just finish the mounting.... it's really easy and love it so hard ....highly recommended ..great job guys!

by:

The T-Rac Pro is a well engineered product and worth the money. And I thought the Cab over extension would be as well but not to be ! Make no mistake you will need an impact and Allen sockets just to install it . I twisted three sets of hand Allen keys . The bolts are 1/2” to Long and stick up and down and look terrible, it’s like the smart guys took the day off . For a thousand bucks I think it’s unreasonable to have to spend 18.53 on bolts and 40.15 on a torque set . I have 1/4” but not 7/32 so I had to get the whole set .
All and all a very nice rack

Great product, went together well. Only had one tiny snafu during assembly. I like the Truck Box option, works like a charm! I have three ladders to carry between my home and a rental home I own. Looking forward to giving it a try this weekend when I head to the rental with the ladders for some maintenance work.

by:

Had them on my 2500 Sierra for a year now. I'm a carpenter, the racks see use every day, with minimal wear on the top of the cross bars the rest looks brand new. Installed myself, took maybe 2 hours. I have a 6'6" bed so I got the cantilever as well. they are a great product, no drilling into the bed rails like the sliding system, which I don't regret not getting that model. I've yet to wish I could slide them for anything.

by:

It's hard to find a bed rack compatible with the 3rd gen Tacoma. I was nervous that, even with all the research prior to my purchase, this rack would not fit, or be missing the bed rail brackets, or SOMETHING due to the difficulties other Tacoma owners have with racks. I'm planning on buying a few Tacomas as fleet vehicles need to shuttle around ~400lbs of equipment regularly.

The price on etrailer.com was excellent. The rack arrived a day or two early. Packaging inside the box was good. Extra tape on the outside would be good though, the box was half open when it arrived.

The rack is easy enough to put together, directions aren't perfect (there's a single bag containing all the screws and bolts and the parts sheet doesn't do a great job of explaining what goes where ) but if you're good at wrenching you'll figure it out, no problem. The brackets for the Tacoma are different than the ones in the diagram, but installation is the same as instructed.

It FITS. Even contains some rubber shims to help protect the truck and kill vibration. Loaded up about 400lb worth of ladders. Lots of tie-off points, and the sliders on top of cross beam are simple and sturdy.

Very happy with it so far. I think this rack will stand up to our abuse :) will order from etrailer again, Happy with their service.

by:

Products showed up on time and in excellent shape. Exactly what I wanted. Thanks for having such an informative website, and for your prompt service.

by:

Awesome craftsmanship....real quality and attention to detail (for instance, all bolts are pre-coated with thread locker).

One suggestion regarding the cantilever assembly......the T-bolts that secure the crossbar to the cantilever arms are a poor design....the extruding bolt could puncture a canoe or paddle board. I would recommend using the same "button-head" screw system that the rest of the system incorporates.

Overall, very satisfied with the truck rack and the customer service.

by:

The T-Rac Pro2 Truck Bed Ladder Rack (TA37002) is really an amazing product. The quality of this rack obviously takes all safety factors into consideration; there is not one piece of plastic on this entire system. The assembly instructions are something that could be improved on, but if you empty out the hardware bag and separate all items into groups, all it takes is a little common sense to put things together. I had no problems assembling the racks – no special alterations were necessary as suggested by other reviews. I would wholeheartedly recommend this product to anyone.

by:

I shopped around, and found the prices at etrailer were very good. Since this was a heavy item and the shipping free was also a plus. Due to availability it took me a little longer to get this then stated from the start. However I was in no hurry so it was not an issue. This rack is made very well and the parts are heavy duty. The instruction manual's were pretty clear and made the install easy. I'm impressed of how fast the install went and how good it looks on my truck. The only reason I gave a four out of five stars was due to the shipping delay. Otherwise I would give the product itself five stars.

by:

The racks work great. Service was great as well.

Only downside is the hardware was allen keyed on the bolts so it was difficult to get a good torque on them. I swapped out the allen head bolts for hex head. Easy to get to proper torque spec and also only takes 2 minutes to remove racks when necessary with the hex heads. Overall nice product and good service from etrailer.

Thanks
