Question:

Will you confirm that the total extension length from pin hole to pin hole is 19? And can this be used as a general hitch extender instead of used just for stairs similar to the HE18? Also, what is the weight reduction by using this adapter?

While the total extension that the Hitch Extender for Brophy Hitch-Mounted Stairs # RHSE provides is 19-1/2 inches from the closest pin holes it is not designed for use as a standard type of hitch extension. This should only be used with the hitch stairs # RHS2. That said, we do have a similar hitch extender that provides 18 inches of extension and also fits 2 inch hitches with the Curt # C45796. Since this was designed as a hitch extender it will work great for the application it sounds like you have. This will cut the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent.
