While it seems this will be a very good product for some folks, it's not working for me. I have a Grand Cherokee with a factory tow package, and the lock cylinder sticks out too far to fit the Jeep bodywork around the hitch. I do like the cable, and the idea is great, but it really needs an offset lock cylinder. So, I'll keep this and look for the Master lock (hubby has a pin with an offset lock that works perfectly) to make this work. I would just ask etrailer.com to mark this item as not compatible with Grand Cherokees. 560695

After ordering a new Master lock and offest pin we are able to use the bike rack and it works pretty well. We have added additional strapping to hold everything down tight, which I would recommend regardless of the model bike rack purchased.

I purchased this product to upgrade the trailer hitch (locking) mechanism for a recently purchased Swagman hanging 4 bike carrier I recently purchased from etrailer. This product is well made and is exactly as advertized, but the one aspect I didnt notice was that the locking mechanism that is secured to the trailer bolt is on the inside of the bolt, which is racheted to the hitch for saftey and a secure (non wobble) tight fit. However, to undo the lock, I found I had to remove the bolt all the way to unlock the system. For long hauls and saftey, this is a great product, but for short trips, I can see where it can be a bit much work to lock and unlock everytime. I modified the use of this product to use the locking bolt to the trailer hitch, however I moved the cable to the upper arm of the bike rack. When the rack is extended upwards, the locking position ( twin holes) for the storage position aren't used. I used an extra locking hitch lock I had and ran it through the storage position holes. This allowed easier access to the lock (it is at the same level as the bikes) and I didnt have to unbolt the hitch lock to gain access to the bikes. This is a solid well made product. 41147

Fit like a glove! I really like the locking mechanism - the "hidden" mechanism makes it even less likely that a casual thief could tackle this thing. Appreciated the picture of how to utilize the locking cable with the locking pin. I have another bike rack with a similar locking pin and cable and didn't realize how to utilize the cable without a separate lock. 109219

It was suggested that I also purchase this lock. It arrived quickly with the other items I ordered. However when we tried to put the lock through the hole in the hitch it was a bit too large. After several attempts we called etrailer. They were very helpful and expedient with their help. We received a new hitch pin lock in a few days. We also received an email explaining in detail how to retrun the pin that didn't fit and they emailed us a label to print out for free UPS shipping. The new pin fit perfectly with ease. So it seemed to be just a small glitch and was easily remedied. Great customer service. 45323

This seems to be good and long enough. It works with a Draw Tite 1 1/4" hitch for my '02 Ford Taurus wagon and Swagman XTC2 rack. The lock does not seem to allow the bolt to go deep enough giving a weak feeling mechanism. Good price though. The threads work well to doubly hold the rack to the hitch. The cable is long enough for what I need. 178216

Ordered the Swagman XTC2 and a receiver hitch from etrailer earlier this week. Paid for 2 day shipping, and received it THE DAY AFTER I ORDERED IT! Can't ask for any more than that. Completed hitch installation today, and then assembled and mounted the XTC2. It slid right into my 1.25 hitch, and the included rattle-proof hitch pin cinched things down very nicely! The wheel rack trays are fairly easy to adjust: I just parked my bike behind it, eyeballed about where the trays needed to be to fit the tires, slid them into place, then plopped the bike in. A couple minor adjustments to the racks, and they were ready to cinch down. My wife's bike went on the outside slot. With the dropping frame tube, I had to shift the trays for her bike to the left a bit so the frame clamp hit at the seat riser. Again this was an easy eyeball placement and adjustment, but proper placement results in the bike being shifted to the left a bit. The front tire protrudes about 4" beyond the side of the car, and I'll probably buy one of those bar extensions to remedy this. Took the bikes out this afternoon, and drove about 4 miles to a nearby park trail. The rack didn't sway much at all through turns, and shaking was pretty minimum going over bumps. I've only used it once so far, but I already love the ease of use! I I have a 2017 Kia Soul, and the vertical rear hatch made a hitch mounted rack the obvious choice. I loved how etrailer's info and user reviews made part/model selection a no-brainer. Why would anybody shop elsewhere? Thanks etrailer! 423393

We are very thrilled with the bike rack. The ease or ordering online and the helpful staff added to the excellent review. Product was everything that it was advertised to be AND MORE. Hitch mounted easily; sturdy; accepts a wide variety of bikes...recumbent, Rans Cruz (crank forward) and standard diamond frame. Amazingly functional product. Thank you! 92917

Everything has worked as wed hoped. Taken our bikes to Boston, Cape Cod and Mackinac Island. We even purchased one Swagman Lock for our son who took bikes from Boston to Maine on vacation. Thank you for your consideration with a follow-up email.

Lock is good, but if I were to do it over again, I would just get the lock and forgo the cable. The cable is suppose to go to the end of the bolt that is threaded into the hitch and you are to loop it. Makes it difficult when you are locking bicycles up and then have to thread it back out every time. I just improvised and have a spacer on the other side and it seems to work fine. 30661

Outstanding product well crafted and shipped quickly. I was looking for a good bike rack for RV travel, after talking to Stacey A, we decided to go with the Swagman XC2, what a great decision we made, she was very nice and helpful great customer service. Once I installed the rack today, which was easy I took the RV out to see how the bike rack would work on the highway it preformed better than expected bike's stayed very secured. If you are looking for a great bike rack please choose Swagman's you will not be disappointment. 578532

Couldn't believe on how fast my order for Trailer hitch, bike rack, and lock accessories came to my front door. I waited till weekend to install after watching the helpful video's. I installed by myself the hitch which is very difficult to maneuver but I used a floor jack and balanced hitch up to center receiver bolts and just loosely tightened bolts, which made it much easier to align outside frame bolts. Everything went together in about 40 minutes. Bike rack was self explanatory with no problems either. All in All , I'd recommend these products and E Trailer Company for professional results at consumers level of installation. Your company makes recreation a joy! Thank you so much, JOHN Mc 223305

We've used this rack for a year now on our Honda Fit. It's been great for our two road bikes, and we've taken it on multiple cross-country road trips. No problems with installing, or safety, or quality of the rack. We also bought the matching Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable. I read several reviews of this type of rack before buying and one of the complaints was that the clamp could rub the paint off of your bike's top tube, and the bike can rub the rubber off the clamping surface pf the rack. The way I've found around that is to get a cheap pool noodle, cut in half and split one side along its length. Then place the pool noodle around the top tube of your bike before clamping it down. This protects the finish perfectly on both the bike and the rack, it's light and it's cheap. 381097

Does what it says. Easy to install and reasonably priced. Not as convenient as some higher-end racks where the cable is built into the rack: it's a pain to access the lock where it attaches to the hitch receiver, and if you leave the cable attached when not hauling bikes, make sure it's looped through the rack somehow to prevent it dragging on the ground. I agree with others that the instructions are misleading- the cable should attach to the hitch bolt on the locking end rather than the threaded end so you can lock/unlock your bikes without having to unscrew the bolt. Comparing the length of the threaded portion against the equivalent (non-locking) bolt that came with the rack confirms this, as the length of the threaded portion on the two bolts is about the same. 54075

Bike rack is Swagman XTC2, with the Swagman lock & cable (S64031). I ordered from etrailer.com because their prices were competitive, and they provided thorough information on their website. I would have ordered via the etrailer website, but had a couple of questions, telephoned etrailer, and ended up ordering from the person I spoke with. The etrailer purchasing experience was excellent, including the initial information searching, the ordering process, rapid shipping, good post-order information, and quick delivery. Assembly of the bike rack was straight-forward, as was installation on the car. I did benefit from several suggestions made by others (in website comments), including using lockwashers with the bolts having blue locktite, and using the 2 screws underneath the ends of the carrier bar to prevent the wheel baskets from moving off the bar. The rack is installed on a 2004 Volvo V70 AWD, with a 2" Volvo hitch. The inner bike easily clears the rear door/hatch ... in my case the handlebars are near the top of the door with plenty of clearance. The XTC2 appears to be well-built (all parts fit easily & properly), and constructed of quality materials. I haven't used the rack yet, so I can't comment on its longevity. But, bottom-line at this time, the XTC2 was an excellent purchase for carrying 2 bikes. 39303

Bought this to lock up two bikes onto a Swagman XTC2 rack on a Ford Fusion. The cable is the perfect length to handle going through 2 bike frames and locking to the hitch pin. I've used it only occasionally in the past year, but have been satisfied with it. The only downside to using it with a sedan is that it's a bit of a crawl to get down to the hitch to lock it up once the bikes are in place. It would probably be a bit easier with a higher vehicle like an SUV. But I don't mind it. I keep a ratchet wrench in the trunk for snugging up the keeper pin and it's very nice for keeping the hitch rack from rattling in the receiver. 284835

We like everything about it except that the lock sticks, both installing and removing from the bolt shaft. The lock trips when you put the key in and then you need to get another key or implement to press it back. Also when the bikes are on the rack it is not accessible unless you lie down under the car. It takes two hands to unlock and remove it. It is hard to secure it onto the shaft and it's kind of irritating when you're lying on the ground to have to keep fiddling with it. We're hoping a bit of oil will loosen it up. 137026

This is a poorly designed and thought out product. If it works in your application, typically with an aftermarket hitch and a Swagman rack, one still has to deal with an end lock which makes access difficult. Also note that according to etrailer, Swagman uses a proprietary bolt and thread, so this product can only be used on Swagman products (etrailer: "As to the lock, Swagman has a specific thread pitch for their locks."). This would not fit in my 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee with factory hitch. The lock cannot be installed on the right because the bolt/lock/key is too long, or hits the plugs on the left. Luckily etrailer is allowing me to return this product. But I am left without a lock to secure my bike rack and bikes to my vehicle since other company's locks will not fit a Swagman bike rack. 212690

The Swagman XC 2 Bike rack arrived in a timely manner and was very easy to put together. I was surprised to see how well it was made and how easy it is to load the bikes and adjust them. I took the bikes for a spin to see how well the bikes rode on the rack and was happy with how solid it was. The clamps seemed to hold the bikes solid but I'm going to use a strap to make sure nothing comes loose. Overall, I am very satisfied with this rack. I have a 1000 mile trip to FL this week so that should really tell me if it works as well as I think. I'm looking forward to try the rack out on a LONG trip. 734343

  • Correct Hitch Pin and Cable Lock for Use with Swagman XC - 2 Bike Rack # S64650
The Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Swagman Bike Racks # S64031 that you referenced is indeed the correct hitch/cable lock for use with your Swagman XC - 2 Bike Rack # S64650 (thank you for your purchase). The comments you noted are simply related to the fact that this rack and lock can fit two sizes of hitch receiver (1-1/4-inch and 2-inch) and when used on the smaller size there will be some portion of the hitch pin that remains visible.

If it is a flat key then you may have just gotten a bad one. Either way you will need a replacement. I will have someone from customer service give you a call to see about getting you a replacement.

Both the Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack # S64650 and Swagman Chinook 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64683 are great options for your 2019 Subaru Outback, and in fact the Chinook is one of the most popular bike racks for the '19 Outback. I have added a link for you with the most popular 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon Bike Racks which shows this. The Chinook will fit the 1-1/4" hitch on your Outback and is overall one of the best bike racks for the money from any manufacturer. While the XC is a very solid,...

  • Bike Rack Needed to Clear Rear Doors of a 2016 Ram ProMaster
I spoke with my contact at Swagman who said that when the center mast on the Swagman XTC-2 # S64670 is folded down it measures about 10-1/2". This is from the bottom of the shank that goes into the receiver on your 2016 Ram ProMaster and was taken with the 2" adapter on. So if you have a 2" receiver just measure 10-1/2" from the bottom of your receiver opening but if you have a 1-1/4" receiver you will need to subtract about 3/4" which means you will measure 9-3/4" from the bottom of your...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack for Carrying 3 Bikes on 2017 Ford Fusion
If you're planning on using a bike rack you already own that's only compatible with a Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver, the EcoHitch # 306-X7239 you'd looked at would be an excellent choice (unless your Fusion is a Sport model). The thing that sets the EcoHitch model apart is the fact that the hitch crossbar will be concealed behind the rear bumper, and it's the only hitch available for your Fusion that uses the 2 inch receiver opening. However, if your bike rack can use a 1-1/4...

  • Troubleshooting Wobble with Swagman XC Bike Rack
For your Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style # S64650, the hitch pin that came with the rack or the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable # S64031 may need to be tightened. I recommend moving the rack up and down slightly as you tighten that threaded bolt. That should secure the shank to your hitch. The two set-screws you mentioned connecting the crossbar to the shank, will only tighten so much and you do want to be careful not to strip the threads. If you have wobble of bikes side...

  • Lock Recommendation for Swagman XC Bike Rack
I spoke with my contact at Swagman to see what size padlock shackle you would need for the hooks on the Swagman XC # S64650 and she actually advised against doing so. She said that the holes in the hook assembly are there to hang the assembly for when it gets the powder coat treatment and haven't provided the best security when customers have tried using a padlock. Instead you need to use the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable # S64031 to lock both the bikes and the bike rack. If you already...

  • How to Transport Bikes with 2017 Toyota Prius Prime
I do have a solution for you, however there is not a trunk-mount bike rack available that is confirmed to fit your 2017 Toyota Prius Prime for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Its hatch construction and design prevents a secure fit with a trunk-mounted carrier. Your best option for transporting bikes with your Prius Prime is with a trailer hitch and hitch-mounted rack. For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24966. This Class I hitch is confirmed...

  • Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch and Swagman Bike Rack Compatibility with 2010 Toyota Prius
The Draw-Tite # 24847 will sit below the bumper of your 2010 Toyota Prius, where the Draw-Tite # 24967 will have a hidden crosstube. I've attached a photo for comparison. They are equally easy to install and have the same capacity ratings. The 13 inch measurement from the ground to the top inside of the receiver you mentioned means you will have about 11-1/2 inches of clearance from the bottom of the chain loops to the ground. You are correct that the receiver will stick out about...
