Hi Mark!

The Swagman XC2 Bike Rack for 2 bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64650 can be made to fit wider tires, but as it is, it's designed for 2.5" wide standard tires (for the lack of a better way to say it). With that being said, you will need to grab the following part to make it compatible with fat tires:

Swagman Fat Bike Tire Wheel Adapter for XTC 2/XTC - 2 Tires # S64674

These can work with tires up to 5" wide, but it only comes as a pair (see included image) and you will need to order two of these to fully convert the bike rack. This does add to the price of the rack, but it will still end up being less expensive than the next option that will work with your tires.

What kind of fat bikes are you wanting to carry?

Inside width on standard tire support hoops is 3 1/2 inches. You would need the adapters.

@Dale@lakewalkernet Thanks for that. What kind of bikes are you carrying? Did you also need the adapters?

Hi Mark, I use my swagman bike rack all the time. I do two types of bike riding and the rack works perfectly for both. I ride mountain bikes and rack works well for that but I also ride custom cruisers which are heavy bikes with wide tires and the rack handles my cruisers just fine. Can’t go wrong with a swagman. Cheers, Sam

@Sam Nice! Wish we could add pictures to these comments (some day we will be able to) as I would love to see what your custom cruisers look like! I grew up in Southern California and you got to see some pretty extravagant ones out on the boardwalks.
