Pivoting Upright Arms with Adjustable Bridges

RockyMounts GuideRail pivoting upright arms

The GuideRail has pivoting upright arms that grab your bikes firmly by the wheel, so it won't scratch or scuff the paint. These upright arms allow you to rapidly load and unload your bikes. Simply set your bikes onto the trays and pivot the upright arms against the tires. Ratchets hold the arms in place, so once you squeeze the arms against the wheels there's nothing left to do.

RockyMounts GuideRail pivoting upright arms

To unload your bikes, you can either flip the blue levers up or press them in to release the ratchets and raise the arms up. Flip the levers back down to re-engage the ratchets.

RockyMounts GuideRail pivoting upright arms

Each arm has 4 slots to accommodate 20" - 24", 24" - 26", 26" - 27.5", and 27.5" - 29" bike tire sizes. To adjust each arm to fit your wheel size, remove the blue bolt, slide the bridge to the desired tire size, and re-insert the bolt.

Grooved Wheel Trays

RockyMounts GuideRail wheel tray

The GuideRail doesn't have wheel cradles like many platform bike racks. Instead, it has wheel trays with grooves that accommodate a wide range of tire sizes from narrow 18c road bikes up to 3.0" wide mountain bikes. Because the grooves run the length of the trays, you can position your bikes exactly where you want them, rather than in a fixed location. This allows you to optimize bike spacing so your bikes don't bump into each other.

Front-Mounted Handle for Easy Tilting and Folding

RockyMounts GuideRail front-mounted hand leverRockyMounts GuideRail cable locks

The rack tilts down with your bikes loaded. So, whether you're at the trail or the grocery store, you don't have to remove your bikes to access your cargo area. It also folds up when not in use. This leaves a smaller footprint, so you can keep the rack on your vehicle to park in your garage. And if you want to remove it, it doesn't take up as much space to store it.

RockyMounts GuideRail folded away from vehicle

To make tilting and folding easier, the GuideRail's release lever is mounted on the front of the rack. This means you won't have to reach through or around your bikes with one hand to reach the lever, while supporting the rack's weight with the other, when lowering the rack. Instead, you'll be able to hold the rack with both hands the entire time.

Complete Security

RockyMounts Guiderail locking hitch pincable locks

The rack includes a threaded hitch pin that helps eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. A lock on the hitch pin secures the rack to your vehicle. It also includes a nylon-covered, square-link chain that secures your bikes to the rack. The chain threads around your bike's frames, through a loop on the end, and locks into the hidden core on the front of the rack. The locks are keyed alike, so you only need to use 1 key.

Video Transcript for RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Hyundai Palisade

Hi, everyone. Aiden here with each etrailer.com. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the RockyMount guide rail platform style bike rack here on our 2022 Hyundai Palisade. Now, I really like the guide rail a lot, and I think it's gonna be a really good fit for your Palisade here. You're gonna be holding the bike in these trays by the tires. On each side, you've got this arm that will ratchet down, and hold the bike in place pretty well might I add.

Overall, it's going to be really good for your carbon frame bikes because we're not making any sort of frame contact. Your alternative frame bikes are gonna work well too. You don't need a bike adapter bar, and with the 60 pound weight capacity per bike, you are gonna be able to get your e-bikes up here with that battery removed so long as it is under that weight limit, and like many other bike racks in this class in this style, you do have the option to tilt away. Coming down to the bottom here, we've got a blue handle that I can pull, and tilt the bike rack down with the bikes loaded. Now you can see it does come down pretty far here.

So if you do have it loaded up with all 60 pounds of capacity per bike, it is gonna be pretty heavy. You're gonna have to squat down with that weight. So just keep that in mind when you are picking up this rack. You can see we do get full clearance with the hatch. No problem.

And you can sit back here, change your shoes before or after a ride, and you're all good to go. If you are looking for something with an easier tilting, the Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack, has a really nice tilting mechanism where you actually stand between the rack and the car, and you lean the bikes back really gently. That one's really nice, just the way that it all works. So if you're looking for something easier that might be an option to consider. Now with the arms here, to disengage them, it's really simple.

Just come to these blue levers down at the bottom and flip them up. That's going to disengage the ratcheting mechanism, and I can just push them outta the way. I like this method of doing it because I don't have to worry about holding down a button like I might on the you know tire hold, and pushing from the bottom where it's a little less easy to hold everything. So I'll just go ahead and set the mic down here. We can come back and fold the arms back down. And then when we do that, just throw that blue lever again, to lock it in place. And with it like this, let's get some measurements. This bike rack does have a really solid rise both in the shank and in the trays, and that's gonna give us a really good ground clearance. We're gonna have 22-inches of clearance here at the back end, which is gonna be more than enough for any sort of steep driveway or hill. As far as how much it's adding to the back of your vehicle, it is going to stick out 28 and a half inches. That's not too bad. The Palisade is a longer vehicle, so just be mindful of that when you are parking in some tighter spots or your garage, but with the bikes unloaded, we can come down to that same handle, and fold it upright. Now that is going to cut our distance added down to only 12 inches to the back end here. That's a lot more reasonable. Depending on your garage at home, you might be able to pull this in, and close the door. Just be cautious of it. It is gonna add some extra length. Now down at the bottom here, it is going to attach to a two-inch by two-inch receiver tube, and comes with a locking anti-rattle bolt. That anti-rattle bolt key is the key to like to the cable lock for the chain up top. So your bikes are locked to the rack, and the rack is locked to your vehicle. Everything's nice and solid in there. And overall, I really like this bike rack. I think it's gonna be a good fit for the vehicle here. It looks nice. It sits really well on it, and you're not sacrificing any sort of functionality with that tailgate. Thanks for watching..

  • Will RockyMounts GuideRail Allow Tailgate of 2021 Ford F-150 to Fold Down
Since we have had chance to test fit the RockyMounts GuideRail part # RKY97ZR on a 2022 Ram 1500 Classic and a 2022 Toyota Tundra and we found that the rack easily allowed the tailgate to fold down when the rack was tilted we can confidently say it would allow the same on your 2021 Ford F-150. Unless your bike has abnormally wide handlebars there's no reason it wouldn't work.

  • Best Trailer Hitch Receiver For 2023 Toyota Venza For Bike Rack
Absolutely, and the best trailer hitch receiver for your 2023 Toyota Venza is going to be either the Curt or etrailer hitch. I mention both because they are the same hitch, just with different finishes - the Curt has a glossy finish while the etrailer has a matte black finish. The reason to go with one of these is because they have the best ground and bumper clearance, keeping your rack higher up off the ground and away from your Venza. The correct part numbers for the hitches that fit...
