This safe replaces an existing headrest with hidden storage, using automotive-grade components and a tan leatherette exterior that blends with the interior instead of looking like a hard lockbox. You can secure a full-size pistol, cash, passports, medications, jewelry, or electronics in a low-profile spot that doesn't use console space, then get back in the vehicle and know exactly where your items are.
A long day in and out of the vehicle calls for access that doesn't depend on one entry method working perfectly every time. The biometric locking system gives you fingerprint access, and the steel locking system includes keypad and hard key override access for backup. The biometric system runs on two AAA batteries (not included), so you have multiple ways to open the safe and retrieve what you stored before heading to the next stop.
A loose storage box can slide, get moved, or turn into the first thing someone notices once they look inside the cabin. The seat-locking mechanism secures the safe to the seat, and the heavy-duty steel construction uses an 18-gauge body with a 16-gauge door around the storage compartment. Once installed on the passenger seat, the safe has a fixed location the driver can reach from the front seat, and stored items go back into the same secured spot each time.
When the goal is short-term storage, the compartment needs to fit the item you brought without turning the front cabin into a catch-all. The safe has 6" tall x 3-1/2" wide x 8-1/2" long interior dimensions and can hold a full-size pistol, with padded interior lining to reduce movement and rattling during travel. Your firearm or smaller valuables sit in a defined padded space, and the rest of the cabin stays free of loose items while you drive.
Replacing only one headrest can make the front seats look mismatched, which can draw the eye even when the storage itself is meant to stay subtle. Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the headrest safe. So when it comes to securing your vehicles and the storage inside of them, most lock boxes either take a valuable space or make quick access inconvenient. And let's be serious, who's putting their stuff in those glove boxes anymore I know they have locks and everything, but if a thief wants to get in, they've already broken your glass, they're gonna break through that plastic, right So that's where the Vulcan Head Safe slide bundle like this one comes into play. It's a completely different approach. It's gonna integrate the safe into the headrest on the passenger side and it's gonna be hidden and no one's gonna know it's there, right So instead of putting your stuff under the seat, like I mentioned, out in plain sight, in that glove box, now you can keep valuables in a discrete location.
So again, you're looking at me, this is the driver, this is the passenger, you can reach over, pop this down, and now I have access to my safe. So I'm gonna come around to the front here. Now this particular bundle features the Vulcan slide system. It's designed for a smoother, easier access to the whole storage compartment while keeping everything compact and concealed. So basically on this particular one, you have three ways of entering the safe.
You can program this when you get it to a key code. You can use the keys that are included. That's probably the hardest way, believe it or not, because you need to use the little Allen tool with it to take off two set screws on the knob, and then you can take off the knob cover, and that's where the key is hidden, the key lock itself. But the easiest way is obviously program it to biometrics and then just simply unlock it that way. Now I have access to the safe.
Now when this particular unit's unlocked, I can actually slide it out. And now I have a handle on top, it's metal. I have the actual safe itself. I can put my valuables, I can put my pistol, money, cash, those kind of things. And again, if I need to lock it or unlock it, I can simply use the biometrics and lock it with ease.
And it's sliding inside and then whenever it's closed, it's actually held in place by this notch as well for added security. Now, they give you this handle to carry it if you wanna have stuff in it. They also do give you a strap here with some clips. If you wanna carry it that way as well, you certainly could. I guess it kind of looks like a purse, but just keep in mind you'd still be abl to see the keypad and those kind of things. So the inside dimensions on this are gonna be 6 inches tall, 3 1/2 inches wide, and 8 1/2 inches deep. So you can go in there pretty far. Again, it's gonna hold pretty much a small, concealed carry pistol size. Let me reach over here. It does have a foam insert that can go in there if you're carrying a pistol. And the idea is that your pistol's gonna go in here and rest and not be moving around and stuff as well. And I just took that out before filming just so you can see more inside of it. So again, whenever you're putting it in or sliding it out, it does need to be unlocked. It does have grooves in the bottom that marry up with grooves in the seat or in the headrest rather, sorry. And then again, once you lock it, you can simply close it and now everything is hidden. So pretty easy to install these as well. They do have a bar that gets screwed in from the inside down. So that's gonna hold these in place. You have these main pins here that are basically the same concept as your current headrest. These are adjustable. When you get this, you put together, you can slide these in or out to fit whatever your seat's footprint is for the headrest. And then they do give you these plastic inserts and there's different sizes in here. You get five different sets and that's gonna go over the tube itself, the metal rod rather, and that's gonna go inside the seat where the old headrest is if you need the spacers. Not all seats need them. And again, because this is universal, you're just gonna have to see which one fits your specific setup. Now the finish itself is a tan leatherette finish. It blends naturally into most SUVs, trucks, and cars, interiors that have that same color. So it's gonna have that same OE-style look and feel rather than looking like something that's not supposed to be the, right So it's a very hidden thing inside the vehicle. And again, that's one of the biggest advantages is that it's not taking up extra space. It's hidden and it's something that people just really would never think about. So pretty neat little product. item was easy to install. It was also easy to program the biometric reader and number pad. It looks great and is easy to operate
This headrest safe is a great idea! The spacing between the 2 stems is adjustable so that they can fit into any car's seatback. They come with various sizes of plastic sleeves to slide over the new headrest stems so the new 3/8 inch diameter stems can fill the holes on the seatback snugly. But the whole headrest can be pulled out just like the old one could. That contradicts what the website claimed, that the headrest safe would be "locked in place."
