Best Mountain Bike Bike Rack w/ a Swing Away Feature

Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 05/14/2025

Question:

Hi. I need a new bike rack for my upcoming road trip. I just got two new mountain bikes. I would like it to be wheel mounted to not scratch the frame. 2 bike capacity. Being able to lock the bikes is important. Even if the best recommendation is to buy a chain and padlock from tractor supply. It would be nice if the rack swings away for my honda ridgeline side swinging tailgate. I also have a 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited it would be nice to put it on as well. What do you recommend? Thanks!

Hey Ashton, congrats on the new bikes! The bike rack that matches all of your requests is going to be the RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # RKY10002. It works with 2" class III hitches.

The RockyMounts item # RKY10002 has a 60 lbs capacity and works with tires up to 5" wide. It is a wheel mount design that has a built in swing-away function. It swings towards the passenger side and extends 67" away from the hitch.

There's no need to go to Tractor Supply either. The RockyMounts item # RKY10002 includes a built in cable and keyed alike hitch pin lock to secure not only your new bikes from theft but also the rack itself.
