TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

Shipped to Alaska with reasonable rates. Product was shipped out within 24 hours of order and arrived 2-3 days later. Boxes were well prepared for a long journey and arrived in excellent condition. Product prices were also as good or better than other sites I could find. I have yet to install what ordered, and if anything changes I will update this review. So far I will be ordering from this company again. Many thanks for the great service. 764589

I use this to haul my travel trailer with my tailgate open and my RZR in the bed of the truck. It goes together easily and is extremely solid when mounted. Much stronger than just an extension tube. 556586

I have towed about 7,000 miles with it now and am much more confident in the strength than the simple extension I had. It works well. Etrailer has been great.

  • How to Use a TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension to Tow a Trailer with the Tailgate Down
For starters, the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension will only work if you have a SuperHitch Original, Magnum, or Hero already installed on your tow vehicle. These hitches have a dual receiver tube opening which is what allows them to work with the SuperTruss. If you need one then please let me know the year, make, and model of the tow vehicle. • 24 inch Hitch Extender for 2019 Ram 2500 to Tow 8k Trailer
The extender you'd need is the Torklift SuperTruss part # TLE1524 which can provide up to 24 inches of extension but you are going to need two additional things to use this and be safe. First thing is a Torklift hitch since this only fits their dual hitch design and also a weight distribution system since this is only way to get the full capacity you need due to your trailer weighing 8,000 lbs. The Torklift Hitch you need is the part # TLD1112-30 which fits your 2019 Ram 2500 and then...

There are campers for truck beds that do hang past the rear bumper quite a bit like you mentioned which is why you see a lot of talk about 36 inch and 48 inch long extensions. That said, since yours is only 24 inch you're best off going with the shorter 28 inch size # TLE1524 that you mentioned and you'd be good. The correct Torklift SuperHitch that fits your 2004 Ford F-250 is the part # TLF1002-30 and will work great with the hitch extension. With this and the extension you'd be set.

  • Which SuperTruss Extension Is Needed for 30 inches from Vehicle Bumper to Camper Bumper
That would depend a lot on the shape of the nose of your trailer, but if it's a standard trailer with a decent amount of clearance between the coupler and where the rest of the trailer starts the part # TLE1524 that provides 24 inches of clearance would work just fine. Otherwise a 32 inch long part # TLE1532 would be a better choice if clearances are tight on the front of your trailer.
