TorkLift SuperTruss in SuperHitch

This SuperTruss hitch extender is specially designed to work with your SuperHitch trailer hitch (sold separately). Like most products from TorkLift, the primary purpose of this extender is to help create a towing setup that fits perfectly with your truck bed camper system. Not only will you be able to extend your trailer hitch receiver out far enough to clear the overhang of your camper, but you will also maintain a high enough weight capacity so that you can tow your trailer.

Heavy-Duty Towing with a Hitch Extension

Most hitch extensions dramatically reduce the towing capacity of your hitch setup, making it difficult to tow a loaded trailer over a certain weight. The SuperTruss, though, creates such a sturdy connection with your SuperHitch trailer hitch that you can still maintain a high weight capacity. To get the highest capacity possible, use a standard weight distribution system with the TorkLift towing setup.

The SuperTruss uses both of the receivers on your TorkLift SuperHitch to ensure a sturdy, secure connection. The solid shank of the extension's top tube slides into your top receiver, and the extension's lower compression tube installs in your bottom receiver. Each tube is held in place with the hitch pins and clips that were included with your SuperHitch. The connection between the extension and your hitch is reinforced with 2 sturdy steel collars that bolt around the tubes of the SuperTruss.

To give you absolute peace of mind, lateral support chains connect to the hitch and the extension on either side of your setup. Just attach one end of each chain to the extension and secure the opposite end to your SuperHitch. Then tighten the chains with the integrated turnbuckles. These chains not only provide extra security to keep the extension in place in your hitch, but they also transfer some of the weight back from the extension to your frame-mounted hitch.

How to Determine the SuperTruss Length You Need

If the camper is mounted on the truck:

Measure from the face of the truck's rear bumper to the outside edge of the camper's bumper. This is the length of the extension that you need.

If the camper is not mounted on the truck:

1. Measure from the inside of the front of your truck bed to the outside face of the truck's rear bumper.

2. Measure the camper's overall floor length from the rubber bumpers at the front to the outside edge of the rear bumper.

3. Find the difference between these 2 figures by subtracting. The difference is the length of the extension that you need.

I use this to haul my travel trailer with my tailgate open and my RZR in the bed of the truck. It goes together easily and is extremely solid when mounted. Much stronger than just an extension tube. 556586

Product fit perfect. Easy to install. Very heavy duty. Iā€™m adding an extension for a 25ā€™ camper trailer so I can fit an ATV rack in my bed that has an 18ā€ overhang. 467640

  • Recommended Dual Receiver Trailer Hitch for Extension and Weight Distribution Due to Truck Camper
  • It sounds like you have a trailer hitch receiver already installed and need to add a second trailer hitch receiver for a double receiver to allow for the extension and tongue weight of your horse trailer. Because you don't have the factory hitch welded to your frame as you mentioned the steel pipe being bolted under your truck, you will need to remove the current hitch and replace it with the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V - Dual 2" Receivers...

  • Recommended Extension For Towing A 7500 lb Trailer
  • The Blue Ox hitch extender # BX88265 is not rated for towing, however we do have extenders that are rated for towing. The issue is we don't have any with the exception of the SuperTruss # TLE1524 that will handle a 7500 lb capacity. That extension requires a special hitch receiver. What you can use is the Curt Ball Mount 3/4" Rise or 2" Drop, Extra Long # D-26. This ball mount has a 7500 lb capacity and is 12-5/8 inches from center of pin hole to center of hitch ball hole. I recommend...

  • Recommended TorkLift SuperHitch for a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500
  • I do have an option for you but the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver part # TLD1100 will not fit your 2010 Dodge Ram 3500. This hitch is only designed to fit a Dodge Ram 3500 from 1994-2002. Instead, I recommend using the TorkLift SuperHitch Original Trailer Hitch Receiver part # TLD1101 if you do not have a factory hitch or part # TLD1102 if you do have a factory hitch. If you also need the TorkLift SuperTruss and then you can use one of the following depending on...

  • Torklift SuperHitch Fit Recommendation for 2012 Ram 2500 with Factory Bolted on Trailer Hitch
  • The correct Torklift hitch for your 2012 Ram 2500 that has a bolted on factory trailer hitch is the part # TLD1101. We have confirmed this fit with Torklift so we know it will work. For Supertruss extensions we have three options. The part # TLE1536 for 36 inches, part # TLE1521 for 21 inches, and part # TLE1524 for 24 inches.

  • Hitch Extender Needed to Tow 9,700 lbs with a 2007 Dodge Ram 3500
  • Since none of our extenders are a viable option (either too short or not rated high enough for weight), your best option would be to use a ball mount with a long shank. Part # 325-GH-064 is rated for 21,000 lbs, fits a 2-1/2" hitch receiver, and extends out 12". If this can accommodate your truck camper then this is what I recommend using. If that doesn't work then you will want to uninstall your current Titan hitch and swap it out with the TorkLift Trailer Hitch # TLD1101. This will...

  • How to Use a TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension to Tow a Trailer with the Tailgate Down
  • For starters, the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension will only work if you have a SuperHitch Original, Magnum, or Hero already installed on your tow vehicle. These hitches have a dual receiver tube opening which is what allows them to work with the SuperTruss. If you need one then please let me know the year, make, and model of the tow vehicle. In order to determine if the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension part # TLE1524 will work for you, you will want to measure from the center...

  • Truck Camper Tie-Downs to Fit with TorkLift SuperHitch Class V Receiver
  • The TorkLift SuperHitch # TLD1108 will fit your 2016 Ram 3500 and you'll be fine keeping the front tie-downs # TLD2127. However, the rear tie-downs, # TLD3109, will not work with the hitch and instead you'll want # TLR3507. I've linked our selection of extensions for you to choose from once you know the length you need. If it is the 24 inch you need it's # TLE1524.

  • Compatibility of Bike Rack and 24 Inch Trailer Hitch Extension and Swagman Bike Rack
  • We don't do any custom fabrication and that length would be too much torque for your trailer hitch with your bike rack bouncing and swaying. I can't recommend you install a bike rack on the end of an extension that length even on a custom build unless you were to use the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 24" Long # TLE1524 which will use dual hitch receivers and chains for stabilization. With that system you could use the Swagman Escapee 2 Bike...

  • Hitch Extender Recommendation Towing 7,500 lb Trailer
  • If you use the Reese Elite hitch extender part # RP45292 in your 2-1/2 inch hitch at the 24 inch length with a weight distribution system you'd have an 8,000 lb capacity. That would be the only way to get an extension with the needed capacity. For a properly rated weight distribution system then you'd need the Reese Steadi-Flex kit part # RP66560 which has integrated sway control and you'd be set.

  • Recommended TorkLift SuperHitch for a 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 with Factory Hitch
  • Good news! The two TorkLift Super Hitch confirmed fit options for your 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie with factory hitch are the 2 inch # TLD1109 or 2-1/2 inch # TLD1109-30. Since you plan on using the # TLE1521 or # TLE1524 you will most likely want the TorkLift 2 inch version # TLD1107. I have linked all the above mentioned products to this page for your convenience.

  • Is 24 Inch Extension Available for Class IV 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2008 Dodge Ram 3500
  • The longest hitch extender that is available for the Class IV 2 inch hitch on your 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 is going to be an 18 inch like part # C45796. Please keep in mind that using a hitch extension is going to reduce your hitch's overall capacity by 50 percent. For a 24 inch extension your Ram would have to be equipped with a Torklift Hitch, # TLD1102-30 for Ram with factory hitch or # TLD1101 for Ram without factory hitch. You could then use # TLE1524 for the extender.

  • The Gross trailer weight for the Titan Hitch Box Extension for 2-1/2 inch Trailer Hitches, # RP45292, extended to 34 inches is 4,500 pounds, which falls short of your trailer/car weight of 6,000 pounds. Rather than replacing your hitch and going with the SuperTruss hitch extension # TLE1524, I recommend using a weight distribution system like the Reese Weight Distribution System, # RP66541. The capacities you need will require a special setup when extended out 24 inches. Your best option would be to remove your existing trailer hitch and install the TorkLift SuperHitch Magnum Class V Trailer Hitch, # TLF1002-30.
