Although it appears it is built to last, it did not fit my Ford Escape's factory installed class 2 receiver; primarily it doesn't have an indent on the none locking side which kept the pin from being fully extended through the receiver which prevented the lock (screw) from engaging the threads on the pin.

by:

Wrong size. Claims it can accommodate 1 1/4", but is actually 2". I purchased the hitch from etrailer (one based on the make and model of my car). Too bad they couldn't match them up when I inquired what size lock to purchase. Now, I'll have the expense of shipping it back to them.

by:

Product seems to be of good quality and should do the job well. Having all the keys match (3 locking pins) is a GREAT plus! If I have any complaints, it's in how it works. It's not bad, just wasn't expecting it. Basically you screw on the end while the key is in the lock. Not a big deal, as I won't be taking these off and on, it was just different from what I was expecting. And of course, great service by eTrailer folks. They put this package together for me and it arrived in time and it was right. They do a great job here.

by:

Product works as described. Did have to drill hole as hitch lock would not otherwise fit my Kuat Sherpa 2.0 rack

by:

Needed 11/4 hitch for my Prius to carry bike rack. It installed easily with no drilling, instructions were clear & easy to follow. By all means use a little dish soap to makeremoval of muffler hanger easier. The Drawtite hitch is very well made. Also orderedhitch lock very satisfied as this is my second hitch I've purchased here.

by:

This lock has different way of unlocking and locking by turning the key in the lock until it opens or is locked. Not a bad thing as the lock appears to have excellent security against attempts to break it by thieves. The finish on the lock appears to have good protection against the elements. All hitch locks should be designed this well. The one that matches it is the Bulldog hitch lock for a 2 inch receiver.

by:

Doesn't fit through the receiver and the extension to lock it onto my car so it pretty much worthless. Cannot seem to make contact with anyone at e-trailer to return it

by:

Great lock. I like the way it snugs tight on the receiver. This will be a big help in securing our pair of Pedego electric bikes on our RV. Also, Ashley was terrific in understanding what I needed (two different size locks), and my desire for both being keyed the same. She put our order together so there wasn't a lot I had to do. Five stars Ashley

by:

Product is solid and made well however the diameter of the shaft which secures the ball bracket into the receiver is smaller than thePin which came with my Curt trailer hitch assembly. This adds too much push /pull slop so I will only use it to secure the trailer when it is left unattended and use the Curt regular pin and carter key when towing.

by:

I just received the Hitch Receiver lock. I like the fact that you can lock it as opposed to the pin lock. I have not used it yet but so far ordering, delivery and product has been great. Thanks.

by:

Great service ... the young ladies whom I dealt with at Etrailer were courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable. After placing my initial order, I shortly recognized the advisability of adding a bolt-lock to the order (it WAS suggested to me by the young lady who first took my order but I declined it) --- I appreciated the effort Tamara in Customer Service put into modifying my order and still getting everything shipped the same day. The items arrived at my house in western New York State sooner than I expected. I was able to install the hitch to the underside of my 2007 Honda Fit with reasonable effort -- I am very satisfied with the hitch too. I haven't actually used the platform bike carrier yet but will do so in a few days and I think I will be pleased with it. I'm also glad I got the bolt-lock.

by:

etrailer.com has an incredible selection, web site, and knowledgable customer service to match. I needed keyed alike hitch receiver locks for a 2" and 1"1/4 receivers, because I move by bike rack between 2 vehicles. They answered my email request the same day and were able to provide the EXACT solution I needed. I would not have been able to get this solution from any of the big box stores. The product shipped quickly, worked like a charm, and was exactly what I needed. This is the second successful order I have made from etrailer.com and will definitely use them again.

by:

While this seems to be a sturdy, well-made product, it is not the optimum set-up for a Subaru Outback equipped with a factory-installed 1.25" hitch.
Quite simply, the pin hole drilled in the 1.25" section is not where it should be. In order for it to line up with the hole in the Subaru hitch, the hole would need to be another 1.5" or so closer to the "rear". Not that this doesn't work, for it does--- but with the unit sticking out yet another 1.5" or so from the hitch. To remedy this, I drilled another half inch hole into the unit where it should be located. Now it works great, but it took considerable effort (and a $20 titanium drill bit) to get it right.
Again, this unit will work in a Subaru Outback without drilling another hole in it; it's just not optimal.

by:

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock came as promised and worked well on my 1-1/4" hitch receiver. The instructions for locking and unlocking were clear, and I now feel that my bike rack is safe and sound locked on the receiver. Great product!

by:

Works fine

by:

This is an easy lock to use, and stows really well whenever it's not in use, and is well constructed! I look forward to many more years of good use. I especially like that I was able to get it keyed to match a similar lock for my 2" hitch!

by:

Worked as promised.

by:

Purchased two of these for a custom dual 1.5" auxiliary receivers. Wasn't sure if it was going to fit because they have a 2" OD receiver, but these fit nice and snug. No slop or play which is exactly what I was looking for and they were keyed alike.

by:

This product has some very subtle features that add substantially to it's functionality. There is no "UP" or "DOWN" for the key - it fits both ways! You can turn the lock end or the pin end to undo it - good if one side is difficult to reach! And I was able to buy three of them from etrailer.com that were all keyed alike! I have two Model Ts and a Model A all with trailer hitches for pulling a vintage camper and now I don't have to worry about having the right key when I go on a trip.

by:

Hope it does not corrode over time.

by:

Used this to lock my Hitch Adapter to the 1.25" hitch of my 08 Honda Fit. Works great. Still had to get a hitch clamp due to too much play between the adapter and my hitch, but the lock does what it's supposed to do. Very easy to use and comes with (2) keys. Would highly recommend buying if you want to secure any accessory to your 1.25" hitch.

by:

used to lock 5th wheel plate to 5th wheel hitch body. Worked just as I wanted. Good product, keyed alike, fair price. Thank you.

It can be a little difficult to get unl ocked.

by:

Use this on the Curt receiver hitch I have installed on my 2006 Subaru WRX Wagon. My WRX was once a garage queen (until my wife got a new car this year), but now it gets parked on the street in front of my house. I prefer to leave the Yakima rack installed on the car, so this gives me peace of mind (along with a camera and exterior lighting) that the rack *stays* on the car. Been a couple of years now and I've had no issues. Happy customer.

Still working great and as intended.

It was good to find a basic/solid true to fit 1-1/4" locking hitch receiver pin. E-Trailer had what I could not find at the local trailer/hardware stores near me.
this pin also was not part of any bigger "kit" of various sized hitch pins and clips...again...JUST and ONLY what I needed. Thanks E-Trailer

  • How to Get Multiple Keyed Alike Trailer Hitch And Coupler Locks
We have an option for you, though there isn't a way to get matching keys for a Master Lock # 2848DAT trailer hitch and coupler lock set as they don't have a Keyed Alike option for a second set. What you can do in order to use the same key for multiple trailer hitch locks and coupler locks is use the etrailer locks, and select the "Keyed Alike" option from the drop-down on their product pages. This will get you all the locks keyed the same so you only have to keep track of a single key....
