Question:
Can you tell me the size diameter of a receiver lock?

Helpful Expert Reply:
On a Class I or II 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch you will need to use a 1/2 inch hitch lock such as # e98879. This lock has a 2 inch span which is the usable length of the pin. I have included a link to a video review for you.
For a Class III or IV 2 inch trailer hitch as well as Class V 2-1/2 inch trailer hitches you will need to use a 5/8 inch diameter pin such as # e98881 which has a span of 3-5/8 inches. I have included a link to a video review of this lock as well.

I have a 2" hitch with a 2" hitch receiver that is just too shallow by less than 1/8". A 5/8" diameter hitch pin won't fit, but a 1/2" diameter pin does (with a tiny bit of wiggle room). Is it safe to use a 1/2" diameter hitch pin lock with a class III 2" hitch, given my scenario?
