Guessing tongue weight is a thing of the past. The Weigh Safe Aero Hitch has a gauge built right into the ball mount platform, so you get an instant readout every time you couple your trailer. The moment the trailer settles on the ball, you see the measurement—no separate scale, no extra steps. It’s quick, accurate, and helps keep your trailer balanced before you ever hit the road.
Built to handle serious loads, this steel hitch is rated for 12,500 lbs gross towing weight on both the 2-5/16" and 2" balls. The high-strength steel shank resists corrosion and uses a matte black powder coat for added durability, while the stainless steel hitch ball stays rust-free over time. It’s solid gear that keeps heavy trailers steady mile after mile.
Whether your trailer sits high or low, this adjustable ball mount makes it easy to line things up for level towing. The platform slides along the shank in 1" increments, locking in place with the included pin. With a maximum drop of 10" and a rise of 11", you can fine-tune your setup for smooth, predictable handling on every trip.
If you tow trailers with both 2" and 2-5/16" couplers, this setup saves time. A clamshell adapter slips right over the 2" ball to create a 2-5/16" connection point—no need to swap mounts or keep track of extra parts. Just remove the adapter when towing with a 2" coupler and you’re ready to roll again.
The Aero Hitch combines strong construction with an easy-to-use setup that fits right into your 2" x 2" receiver. With an 8" to 9-1/4" distance from the hitch pin hole to the ball center and a smooth black finish, it’s made for everyday towing without fuss or worry—reliable hardware that just works when you need it.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Weigh Safe Aero Hitch for a two inch hitch. It has a 10 inch drop, 11 inch rise, and a 12,500 pound maximum gross towing weight capacity. Now, this ball mount with the included hitch ball will let you hook up your trailer to your tow vehicle. The shank right here is what'll slide into your two inch hitch receiver, and the two inch diameter ball will provide the connection point for your trailer coupler. The ball is a stainless steel hitch ball.
It is corrosion resistant. Now, this part will include everything laid out here on the table. It's gonna include this two inch shank right here. I'll slide into your hitch receiver. It includes the slider ball mount with the two inch fixed ball and the tongue weight gauge on the side here.
Now, it does also include the hitch pin and clip, which is used when this slides into your hitch receiver. You line this up with the hole, slide your pin all the way through, clip it and it'll secure it to your hitch receiver. And it also comes with the slider lock with the two keys that'll actually go through these holes here and lock this ball mounting to what position you need it in so nobody can mess with it. The unique thing that comes with it is this clamshell adapter. It is a 2-5/16 size clamshell adapter.
And what this does is this let you tow a trailer that has a 2-5/16 inch size coupler without having to change the ball mount. All you do is take this, place it over the ball and you just changed it from a two inch to a 2-5/16 inch diameter ball. And then when you're done, just remove it, store it, and then you have your two inch ball back. Now, the gross towing weight capacity is gonna be 12,500 pounds, tongue weight maximum of 1,500 pounds. And it doesn't matter which ball size you use, it'll be the same.
Now, we talk about tongue weight and why it's important. Tongue weight or pin load weight refers to the weight that the fully loaded trailer is gonna exert downward on the back axle of your tow vehicle. Tongue weight is typically 10 to 15%. Should not exceed 25% of your gross trailer weight. So for an example, if you have a 10,000 pound trailer, you should have a tongue weight between 1,000 to 1,500 pounds. And you can adjust the tongue weight of your trailer by removing or adding cargo or just redistributing the load on the inside of the trailer. The tongue weight should not exceed the capacity of your tow vehicle, your hitch, or any of your towing components. Now, this Aero Hitch here is a nice smooth modern design. As we mentioned, it has the built-in gauge to measure your tongue weight to help you balance that trailer. So it's a quick way to check if your load needs any adjustments before hitting the road. And it is super simple to use. As we mentioned, you just couple your trailer to it and you'll get an automatic measurement every time so there's no more messing around with separate scales. It makes everything so much easier. And if you notice the adjustment holes along the shank here, this is an adjustable height, so it'll let you tow trailers of different heights with the same vehicle. All you have to do is slide this slider ball mount up or down in the shank, secure it in the position you need with the included locking pin. If you notice all the holes on the side, they are at one inch increment adjustments. So center to center between each hole, this will give you an incremental height adjustment of one inch. Now, the maximum drop would be the position it's in now. And that's measured from the top of the ball mount to the top of the shank. So this one maximum drop is 10 inches. If you flip this receiver over or if you flip the shank over in your receiver and then put this at the highest position, it'll give you a maximum rise of 11 inches. Now, we did mention the slider lock that'll lock this slider ball mount to your shank. It comes with the two keys. All you have to do is pop off the cover, put your key in there, turn it a quarter of a turn, and it removes the lock. And then just slide this through all the way. Put this back on there, turn this back, and you're locked into place. Put your cover on to protect the lock core. And just like that, it's all locked in place. You're ready to go. Nobody can mess with removing your ball mount. Last thing I want to do is give you some measurements and we're gonna measure from the two hitch pinholes to the center of the ball. We'll measure from the closest one and then the furthest one. So if we get a ruler and if we do the center from the first hitch pinhole to the center of the ball is right at eight inches. And if we measure from the center of the furthest hole, hitch pinhole to the center of the ball is 9-1/4 inches. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Weigh Safe Aero Hitch for your two inch hitch. It has a 10 inch drop or 11 inch rise with a 12,500 pound maximum gross towing weight capacity.

love it
Great peace of mind, well-made and great price!!!
Great project and great quality
Customer service was excellent. Hitch is overkill for my current truck but looking toward the future with this purchase. Great company to do business with.
Quick ship as usual. Nice hitch.
Great value.
Looks good, easy to adjust.
The Weigh Safe adjustable ball mount have a lot of pros to it. One of the main things that stood out for me was how the lock works. If you are putting on the lock cylinder on you don't have to use the key to lock it, it clicks in and locks into place. The Aero is a good option for someone who wants something that is lighter in weight than most adjustable ball mounts. It will also give you slightly better clearance since the two balls are not connected as one and you would get a clam shell adapter to adapt to the 2-5/16th ball size. The scale is a major plus when your loads are not always the same, you always know your Weigh is Safe to go!
It works great. A slight clunk when braking and coming to a stop but I think an anti rattle hitch tightener will eliminate that. Guage works well. Installed on my 2017 Tundra
Listing indicated in came with two balls, in fact it comes with one ball and a clam shell for second ball. Clam shells are not safe. I returned the item.
delivered as promised
Nice to know if your tongue weight is in the 10 to 15% range.
I love this Hitch! This helps me better properly distribute my front to rear trailer weight. I do have one issue but it's due to my vehicle, but not currently affecting my ability to tow my current trailers. I can't do a rise due to my bumper facing being about a 1/2 inch too long/deep. Cybertruck.
Love this product! Very simple and extremely heavy duty!
Was unaware that the 2 5/16 ball is just a clamshell that goes over the 2” ball . Used it once hoping for the best and it got so wedged in the trailer that we had to pry it out with a bar. Absolute garbage and needs to be more clearly stated that there is a clamshell as your second ball. Called to try and get it returned and/or exchanged for one without a clamshell and was denied . Absolute trash and do not buy it if you’re going to tow anything other than a 2” ball.
My only disappointment is the scale only shows increments of 100. It would be nice if it could show them in increments of 50.
Have not had a chance to try it yet but be soon, so far everything is going to plan :-)
The hitch is fine if you only need a 2" ball. I don't like the clamshell that came with the hitch as it starts to open and gets stuck when trying to disconnect the trailer. I tried to order a replacement ball in 2 5/16" but weigh safe does not make a replacement ball for the aero hitch. If you need to tow something that requires a 2 5/16" ball, I suggest looking at other hitches.
Hitch works as a hitch should. I really enjoy the quick ball clasp that allows me to throw a 2 5/16" Ball trailer on it at a moments notice. The tongue weight being easily visible makes hauling takes significantly less guess work. Generally, you'd weigh the trailer tongue off the truck, but that takes time, requires a level place, you have to disconnect the truck... it's a lot of work, especially if you're just throwing stuff on a flat deck or loading a box trailer up. It's also super useful when balancing out your car hauler. It's almost 2 years old now, but works like brand new. I tend to baby it a bit more than my other ball hitches, but it's come in clutch when I needed it.
Love this hitch! It’s versatile, tough and easy to use.
