Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

These Titan Chain ladder-pattern snow chains are great winter weather chains for your vehicle. The cross chains have a zinc finish, further adding to the durability and longevity of these chains. The square links - which dig into snow and ice better than traditional twist links - are made of a corrosion-resistant alloy steel, so they last 2-3 times longer than standard low-carbon chains. But if you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions where you live, you may instead want a chain with square or V-bar links that can really bite into the ice for more traction.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Snow Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Drape chains over tire.

2. Drape the chains over your tires, making sure that the prongs attaching the cross chains to the side chains face away from your sidewalls.

Connect the chain behind the tire

3. On the back of the tire, pull the chain tight and hook the ends together. Repeat this on the side chain on the front of the tire, then clamp the lever to fasten extra chain links and keep them from flapping as you drive.

Attach optional tensioners

4. Insert the included tool into the cam and twist to tighten the sidewall chain. Twist as many cams as it takes to get a tight fit.

Attach optional tensioners

5. Drive forward 2-3 vehicle lengths and recheck the chain tension. Tighten any loose cams. If needed, rubber adjusters (sold separately) can be used to get a tight fit. Make sure the hooks on the adjusters face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Can Tire Chains be Used on a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with 265/70 R18 Size Tires
Some vehicle manufacturers do not recommend using chains because of clearance issues. Check the owner's manual of your 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500 and compare your tire size. I looked up an online copy and it lists specific tire sizes to not use chains on. With that being said there are parts of the country that legally require you to have tire chains during certain times of the year or certain weather conditions. This is where the discretion falls on the driver because the manufacturer...

We carry several sets of tire chains for the tire size 275/65R18 but if you are looking for something priced great, is easy to install, and provides great traction you'd want the part # TC2327. I attached an install video for these chains for you to check out as well.

  • Does Titan Chain Make A Heavy Duty Diamond Chain For a 265/70-18 Tire On a Ford F-350?
Currently the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2327 are the only diamond chains offered by Titan for your 265/70-18 tire. They do not offer a HD Diamond like the # TC2533 you use with the 275/55-20 and 275/70-18 on your other vehicles. Titan does offer a Heavy Duty Ladder Pattern Chain # TC2228SCAM which will fit your 265/70-18 tire. These have cam adjusters and I recommend using the Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster # TCMA3 with them.

  • Can the Titan Chains TC2228SCAM Be Used for Off-Road Applications
The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC2228SCAM would work well for off and on-road applications. The square link chains like this do well in deep snow and off-road situations since they are larger than twist-link style chains. The Titan chains are priced great. They still are a high-quality durable chain though. They are made of manganese-nickel allow that will last much longer than the low carbon steel chains.

I have included a link to all of the available chains that will fit your tire size. If you are looking for something that can be used on or off-road there are several options in this size. Both the Ladder Pattern # TC2228SCAM and Diamond Pattern # TC2524 Titan Chain snow chains are good options for a 265/70-16 size tire, but when I looked up the owner's manual for your 2020 Toyota Tacoma it stated that you need to use low clearance chains so I recommend the Titan Chain # TC2324 instead. It has the diamond pattern and square links but they are a little smaller for better clearance. The diamond pattern is superior to the ladder style because it has constant contact with the...

  • Best Snow Tire Chains for Ford F-150 in Deep Snow Colorado Weather
Square link chains are awesome! While the general rule of thumb is that twist links are great for snow situations and square links are for "snow and ice" weather, I personally think square links as the best for all-around purposes. The newer premium tire chains are usually square link chains. My favorite tire chain that fits your vehicle is the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern # TC2533. It's my favorite since it's ridiculously easy to install and the diamond pattern...

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for 2016 Ford F-150 XLT with Tire Size 265/60R18
We have a few great options for the tire size of 265/60R18 for tire chains. If you plan to be in ice you will want a V-bar setup like the part # TC2828CAM as the V-bars do a great job breaking up the ice. If you are wanting a smoother ride quality the twist link part # TC2228CAM is the correct chain to use. For deep snow the square link part # TC2228SCAM would be best.

  • Repair Link and Cross Chain Replacement for Titan Ladder Pattern Alloy Snow Tire Chain
There sure is, you'd want to use # TC250CCRL as a cross chain repair link or # TC6225S as a replacement cross chain. • What is the Chain Thickness for Titan Tire Chains # TC2228SCAM
On Titan tire chains # TC2228SCAM you are looking at chain links that are approximately 0.19 to 0.25 inches thick so less than a 1/4 of an inch. The chains are made of manganese nickel alloy so they are very durable and the square links offer the best traction. It looks like your 2012 Ram 2500 has 5 possible stock tire options. Tire cables are not known for being super long lasting.
