Features to know about

Clean Style That Doesn’t Stand Out: Hidden Hitch Design

You don’t want a bulky hitch hanging below the bumper. This completely hidden design keeps the cross tube tucked behind the rear bumper, giving your vehicle a clean, from-the-factory look. The 2" receiver unbolts when you’re not using it, so you can return to a totally stock appearance. It’s an easy way to add towing and cargo capability without changing how your vehicle looks.

Tough Enough for Everyday Use: Class II Strength with 4,000 lbs GTW

This hitch is built for real hauling jobs. With a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and a 400-lb tongue weight limit, it’s ready for small trailers, bike racks, or cargo carriers. The receiver opening is 2" x 2", giving you plenty of accessory options while keeping everything secure and stable.

Eco-Friendly and Built for Tough Conditions: Strong Recycled Alloy

The aluminum and steel alloy construction is both durable and environmentally conscious. It’s made with recycled materials that reduce the carbon footprint during manufacturing while maintaining strength and rigidity. A black powder coat finish offers superior rust protection, so the hitch stands up to weather and wear.

Simple Bolt-On Install: No Welding Required

This hitch installs with a bolt-on setup that fits precisely to your vehicle’s frame—no welding needed. Once mounted, it stays hidden behind the bumper and meets SAE J684 towing safety regulations. It’s a strong, clean solution that adds function without extra fuss.

2019 Tesla Model S
Nicely built hitch for transporting bikes on my mid 2019 Model S (Raven).
by:
2016 Tesla Model S
Seems like a well engineered product. My intended use is for a hitch mounted bike rack, not for any towing. I see one other user rated the install as a 10 out of 10 for difficulty. I have a friend whose job is removing bumper covers for repairs. He rated it about a 5 out of ten for difficulty. There are a lot of fasteners, so it just takes a while. Patience. He had no issues at all keeping the various fasteners straight on the reassemble. He did not use jacks, jack stands or a creeper. Just a movers pad for his knees and elbows.
We had to use a rat tail file to enlarge one of the holes in one of the included reinforcing angle brackets. After reassembly, there was a very slight bulge from the hitch where it was pressing ever so slightly on the black plastic lower fascia. I couldn’t face taking the entire bumper cover off again so I’m going to leave it and over time if it damages the plastic I’ll fix it then.
Several years ago apparently there was an issue with electrolysis between the hitch and aluminum portions of the body. The kit included some non conductive washers that completely addresses that problem.
It’s a huge bonus to be able to use a trailer hitch mounted bike rack. Too bad tesla won’t make one. Quality product.
by:
The hitch I received did not fit the Tesla because the plates were welded backwards.
Torklift was extremely responsive and shipped me another hitch out that same day after I notified them. I received the new hitch the next day by 2p. Installed it that afternoon with out a problem.
by:
First off etrailer has top notch customer service. I accidentally ordered the 1 1/4” hitch vs 2” and they turned around my updated order in a day. Incredibly responsive and helpful proper work there.

As for the hitch, it looks and works great. I DIY installed it in 2 hours using the video along the way. It’s a fairly straightforward install so long as your mechanical. Honestly the install is 5/10 from mechanical perspective and 8/10 from detail perspective. I didn’t use ramps or a lift and had no issues whatsoever accessing the underside.

Highly recommend the hitch and etrailer

2016 Tesla Model S
Awesome solid rack. Some discrepancies on tongue weight.. I've seen 300 and 200lbs. The sticker on the rack says 300lbs, and I definitely believe that figure. I'm using it to mount a bike rack on a 2016 Tesla Model S and I'm super happy with the results.

Installation took just under 3 hours working at a pretty leisurely pace, the video was super helpful! My only feedback is the whole "assembly is the reverse of disassembly" comment. Thats just a real kick in the teeth to write in instructions. But I played the video backwards and managed to get it all back together without any missing hardware!
by:
The hitch has been great, I used it all last summer for my bike rack, It has been easy to remove and is well built fits great on my Tesla Model S.
by:
I called to confirm that the hitch would fit the NEW 2021 Tesla Model S PLAID. I was put on hold for a while then you came back and said YES it is confirmed to fit the new refresh model. NO it does not fit. Not even close. Now I paid a shop to install and instead wasted 2 hours of time and money! New Plaid has only 4 bolts and will not line up with supplied hitch! Never got to install teh wiring kit as hitch was wrong!
by:
2022 Tesla Model 3
Fast shipping and great product, but did not include the template or double sided tape to reattach the . Also, the video on the product page has a few steps that are different from the instructions, but overall helpful.
by:
This is a serious hitch. Heavy solid steel. The mounting video is fantastic. Removing the bottom pans without a lift is a pain but doable.

I had to make the bumper hole larger to fit a wrench on the right angle adapter bolt. Otherwise no issues.
by:
Hold up well just need to be carefully going up on steep driveway because it will hit the receiver.
Best remove the receiver when it is not in use.
Otherwise, I tried with 3 bikes and I do feel the weight and I think best stay with maximum 2 bikes.
by:
The hitch was well made and fit well. The down side was the instruction Booklet. It was the worst ever made.
by:
2016 Tesla Model S
It fit very well on 2016 Tesla model s and real easy to install. It take 30 to 45 mins to install.

2017 Tesla Model S
Stealt hitch construction is solid! Much heavier gauge material than I expected, and delivery was blazing fast. 2 day free delivery for such a large box was a real bonus, I’ll have the hitch Installed sooner than anticipated!
by:
Had to use a hammer to get a ball mount in and back out the first couple times. Also there are easier ways than sliding the removable part up in there and then having to lay on the ground in order to secure it with the bolt at proper torque. Manufacturer should check out some of the nifty European designs for hitches like that.

The hitch works fine. Towed several trailers with different loads. It is rattling loud if the trailer doesnt have plenty tongue weight. I installed a anti-rattling device for the ball mount and that helped some. The problem is that there is also play between the hitch and the receiver that needs installed when towing. That system has some play creating rattles and is also inconvenient to install, as I have to lie to install it. I wish it would have what Ive seen on european style hitches where the ed part is cone shaped and self locks. The cone shaped part eliminates the rattle at this point.

@RmtF Unfortunately, what you're experiencing is a function of manufacturing tolerances. If the receiver opening and the shank of your ball mount were the same size, it'd be very difficult if not impossible to install the ball mount. If you get a receiver that's at the the high end of tolerance, and a ball mount that's at the low end, there's going to be some movement. Unfortunately, it's unavoidable.

2017 Tesla Model S
We appreciate having a solid option to travel with our bikes using a Küat 2 bike carrier with the Hi-Lo attachment. Our independent mechanic shop did the installation. Awareness is required for potential low clearance situations to avoid dragging the receiver, but that is more due to the low Tesla S vehicle clearance which can be improved by manually activating the high level for the air suspension.

Were happy with the utility of the receiver and flexibility for bike-carrying vehicle choice it provides. Note carrying bikes in this manner decreases range by at least 30 due to compromise of EV aerodynamics.

@Robin When you say 30 do you mean 30 percent or 30 miles?

Not a great experience. I purchased a trailer hitch for a 2021 Tesla S but they change the frame on the car so the trailer hitch didn’t fit and I had to have it Jerry rig to get it to work.

I show that this hitch is a fit for a 2012 – 2021 Tesla Model S. I recommend taking a look at the video installation that we have on a 2017 Tesla Model S.

by:
2018 Tesla Model S
fit right, only headache was we did not get the template for the cut out, but a bit of marking and test cuts got us going, client was super happy as well.
by:
Hitch is good as designed, have used it for boat and ATV+dirt bike... No problems with it, but I really wish etrailer or someone had a normal hitch that goes through the bumper cause the hitch is way too low as is. I have scraped it on driveways and anywhere there is a slope. And that's after doing a 1.5" lift (car doesn't have air suspension).

It's great that the hitch is removable but I keep a lock pin on it when leaving the trailer alone so it's a bit harder and would be annoying to do ever week.

It would have been nice if hitch followed the bumper up to give better ground clearance. Otherwise great.
by:
Install went perfect. Been using for 1 year with 2 place ebike rack (my ebikes are 72 lbs each). It's been perfect and stable.

After a year using the same heavy e-bikes in this rack and using it at least three times a week over the summer its held up perfectly I love the removable receiver so the hitch disappears for the winter.

by:
2015 Tesla Model S
Overall really good on my 2015 Tesla Model S. It is very low to the ground, and have scraped it hard backing over curb cuts at driveways, but I have been removing the receiver since I am only using it for a bike rack currently.
A couple of issues...don't follow the video regarding flipping the sensor over if applicable. The paper instructions clarify if you have a beam, the sensor needs to be mounted where a chunk of metal is not between the sensor and plastic bumper/facia.
Second...the packaging was very...optimistic. I large chunk of metal in a box and barely connected to the box. The result was that the bag of hardware split open and half of the pieced disappeared out of the box through the handholds. ETrailer sent me the replacement bag of hardware, but it took several weeks while the initial order was just a matter of days...delaying my ability to install it by almost a month.
by:
A challenge to install. It hits the ground on steep approaches. Nice to be able to haul bikes. Note:A bike on the back of the car reduces freeway range by 20% due to wind resistance! Roof mounted bike racks offer slightly better aero. I have not tried removing the Seat, maybe will help. Going camping a great distance away with bikes on the tesla is a risky idea. (the tesla is a great camping vehicle otherwise).
by:
For the Tesla Model S, this is the only 2” receiver on the market. This opens up so many options. Even though I find towing with a sedan to be a bit tacky as opposed to a truck, it’s a stiff hitch, built well, and with it being a 2” receiver, accepts all common options like bike/luggage racks, balls, and still has a decent tongue weight. All in all, as your only choice on the market, a good choice.
by:
2015 Tesla Model S
Product arrived on time, as described. Hitch seems sturdy and made of quality steel. Installation was straightforward, especially useful the video (more than the printed material). Took a bit longer than anticipated to install (~5h) as I worked in my garage (no car lift) and had to improvise a bit when working on the undercarriage panels of my 2015 Model S (they were slightly different than described in the instructions). Hitch fit was dead on with the car underbody. Once reassembled I seem to notice the bumper sitting tight against the underbody and maybe protruding 3-4mm more than before in the middle portion, but nothing I would worry about or notice if I hadn't done the install myself. Overall very happy with the product and etrailer service.

Exactly how it was advertised. Super easy to install with the helpful video and very clean looking as well as solid. I ordered online and it was shipped that day. Incredibly happy with etrailer

After a year, it still is as good as it was. We use it often for our bike rack which is a bit on the heavy side, but it has held up beautifully. Still no evidence of any rust either. Strongly recommend this hitch.

by:
Solid product, and I am very satisfied with it. I am reasonably handy and have a decent collection of tools. However, I am far from a mechanic, and even farther from an autobody specialist. The installation video was absolutely crucial to me being able to do this myself. With watching the video ahead of time, and keeping it on a tablet while I worked, it all went smoothly.

Word of caution... my Tesla S 2016 90D doesn't have the air suspension. Without the ability to raise the car, I have to be VERY careful about ground clearance when the receiver is installed. Pulling into and out of a parking lot can cause the receiver to hit the ground. I definitely do not leave the receiver installed when not in use. If you hit the ground hard with it, I suspect significant damage to the car could occur. This probably is not an issue with the adjustable suspension, but be VERY careful if you don't have the adjustable suspension.
