Question:
Im looking at the difference between the trailer hitch recievers listed as item# 306-X7201 for a 2inch hitch and item# 306-X7202 for a 1-1/4inch hitch. It looks like the only thing different in the two is the size of the opening in the bottom end of the removable fitting that sticks out from the vehicle and connects with the hitch. However, the top end of this fitting the end that connects to the part mounted to the car seems to be the same size for both the 306-X7201 and 306-X7202. Im trying to determine if this is the case. Are these fittings interchangeable? Can I buy item# 306-X7202 and also just the removable fitting for item# 306-X7201 so if I need to tow something with the other size can I just interchange the external portion of this receiver. Thanks,

The hitch sizes are not interchangeable between the EcoHitches that fit your 2013 Tesla Model S with the part # 306-X7201 for the 2 inch size and part # 306-X7202 for the 1-1/4 inch. The opening on the crosstube of the hitch is different between the hitch sizes so you have to decide which hitch size you'd prefer.
The 2 inch size is what I would recommend as it has higher capacities and also has more hitch accessories made for it since it is the most popular hitch size.
