Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2009 Chevy Cobalt Coupe
If your 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt is not an SS then you would want a Curt Trailer Hitch, part # C11430. I attached installation instructions as well as a link to a video of this hitch being installed on a similar vehicle as yours below. If your Cobalt is an SS then you could use a Draw-Tite Hitch, part # 24756, like you referenced. I attached installation instructions and a video of this hitch being installed on a vehicle that is similar to yours below also. You may also be interested in...

  • Installation Time for a Hitch on a 2009 Chevrolet HHR
For this particular installation I do not see a difference in the installation so I believe the difference is just in the amount of time the manufacturers stated at the time of engineering. The installation is essentially the same for all of the hitches (see link) offered for the 2009 Chevrolet HHR. I would allow a bit more time, maybe 1-1/2 hours, for the installation if working off of the ground without a lift.

  • Is There a Trailer Hitch for 2010 Chevrolet HHR With Heavy Tongue Weight Capacity
The only trailer hitches that fit a 2010 Chevy HHR are Class I hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver, 2,000 lb towing capacity and 200 lb tongue weight capacity. The reason is because these vehicles simply don't have the capacity for that much extra weight, and aren't designed with that purpose in mind. Five hundred pounds is a very large amount of tongue weight, and the only vehicles that have hitches with that much capacity are large trucks or SUVs. The only option to transport a mobility...

  • Choosing the Correct Trailer Hitch and Accessories for a 2008 Chevy Cobalt LT1
For the 2008 model year, the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24756 fits the Sport, Sport Sedan, and SS Coupe models of the Chevy Cobalt. If you have a regular sedan or coupe model you would need the Curt hitch # C11430. The underside of each may look similar but the mounting locations and hitch design are different which is why there are different hitches for each. I have included links to the installation instructions for both hitches for you to view. If you require the first hitch, 24756,...

  • Will Kuat Bike Rack B202-114 Fit on a 2007 Chevy Cobalt SS Coupe
The clearance for bike rack # B202-114 is going to be 7-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright bar on the bike rack. To determine if this rack would have enough clearance to fit on your 2007 Chevy Cobalt, I recommend measuring from your hitch pin hole to a point past your bumper and any other items that might interfere with the bike rack installation. If this measurement is less than 7-1/2 inches, the Kuat bike rack would work well for your application. If...

According to the owner's manual for the 2006 Chevy HHR the maximum towing capacity of the vehicle is 1,000 pounds. • Trailer Hitch for a 2009 Chevy HHR SS to Use with Kuat Transfer Bike Rack
I checked with Curt and trailer hitch # C11447 will fit your 2009 Chevy HHR SS model! You mentioned that you want to use the hitch for a bike rack. If you choose the Curt hitch then Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements. If you don't want to have to use the strap then I recommend the Draw-Tite hitch, # 24756, because it does not require the use of the...

  • Can a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Sport Tow a Small Trailer
Yes, for a trailer hitch that is a confirmed fit for your 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Sport I recommend the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 24756 which is a custom fit so minimal modifications are required and it has a 2,000 lb gross trailer weight capacity. Therefore, you could absolutely tow a small trailer with this trailer hitch so long as the vehicle is also rated for it. In order to complete your towing setup you are also going to need a trailer wiring harness, the T-One...

The two vehicles mentioned are different enough that they both require totally separate trailer hitch fits. For the 2005 Saturn Vue you would want the etrailer hitch part # e98865 but then the Draw Tite hitch for the 2007 Ion would be the part # 24756.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2011 Chevy HHR
Curt and Draw Tite are not the same companies. Draw Tite and Hidden Hitch are made by the same company so they are basically the same. But Curt is it's own company by itself. For most vehicles all of the hitch manufacturers will go with a very similar design that uses the same installation points on the vehicle. In the case of your 2011 Chevy HHR all of the hitches do look very similar with a few minor differences. The hitch I would recommend is the Draw-Tite part # 24756 because it doesn't...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2006 Chevy Cobalt
Based on the size of the food cart you have the only option I can recommend for you would be to install a hitch on your 2006 Chevy Cobalt like # C11430 or part # 24756 if you have an SS model and tow a small trailer. The dimensions of the food cart are too big to fit on a cargo carrier. The hitch I recommended comes with pin and clip. You will still need a ball mount. For a ball you can use # 19256 (1-7/8 inch diameter) or # 19258 (2 inch diameter). You will need to check the coupler...

  • Differences Between Trailer Hitch Receivers for a 2008 Chevrolet HHR LT1
The differences between the Draw-Tite # 24756 and the Curt # C11447 trailer hitches for your 2008 Chevrolet HHR are that the Draw-Tite has a welded tab that keeps you from using Class II trailer hitch rated accessories and it doesn't have a collar while the Curt doesn't have the welded tab and it does have a collar. The Curt also requires the use of a stabilizer strap # 18050 for all non-trailer accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier. Attached are installation videos and instructions...

  • Difference Between MaxxTow and Brophy 1-1/4 to 2 Adapter
MaxxTow specifically lists their adapter as only being compatible with Class II hitches. Regardless of any dimensions that may suggest otherwise, this is the information that comes from the manufacturer. The Brophy # HT5R does not have this limitation. In addition to the Class I and Class II compatibility the Brophy has, there is also the quality to consider. The Brophy adapter is going to be a higher quality product when compared to the MaxxTow adapter.

You can use the linked page to select your vehicle style. Use the drop-down menu tool at the top of the page to choose your particular Cobalt. I did a little research and found that the draw bar came with your Hidden Hitch Trailer Hitch Receiver with Drawbar, part # 60815 (no longer available), is the Sportframe Drawbar 4 inch Rise, part # 3594. • How to Carry Four Bikes on 2008 Chevy Cobalt Sedan
If your Cobalt sedan is a Sport Model, I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class I receiver, part # 24756. For a non-Sport model, go with the Curt Class I, part # C11430. However due to the very limited weight capacity of the Class I receiver, both the hitch and bicycle rack manufacturers all agree that any bike rack used on a Class I receiver should not be used to carry any more than two bikes. Carrying additional bikes can place the weight of the bikes too far away from the hitch, causing...
