Features to know about

Haul Small Loads and Gear with Confidence: Class I 1-1/4" Receiver

This Curt hitch gives you a solid 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver opening for light-duty towing and everyday gear hauling. With a Class I rating, it’s built for up to 2,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight, which covers small trailers, cargo carriers, and bike racks. Whether you’re heading out with a couple bikes or pulling a small utility trailer, the fully welded steel construction keeps everything stable and secure on the road.

Easy Bolt-On Upgrade: No Welding or Drilling Needed

This hitch installs using existing points on the frame, so you can bolt it on without cutting, welding, or drilling. The precision, robotic welding process ensures a perfect fit that lines up cleanly every time. A complete hardware kit and installation instructions come in the box, helping you get it mounted using common hand tools. It’s an easy afternoon project for anyone who likes to handle their own upgrades.

Built to Last Through Every Season: Gloss Black Powder Coat Finish

The gloss black powder coat over a protective base coat helps this hitch stand up to moisture, salt, and road grime. The finish resists rust while keeping the round-tube design looking sharp under your bumper. You won’t have to worry about corrosion or flaking when the weather turns rough—the coated steel is made to stay solid year after year.

Ready for Towing or Accessories: Use with Ball Mounts, Racks, and Carriers

The 1-1/4" receiver works with Class I accessories like drawbars, bike racks, and cargo carriers. Just add a compatible ball mount such as part?# C45016 and the right hitch ball (# 19256 for 1-7/8" or?# 19258 for 2") when you’re ready to tow. For non-trailer loads like bike racks or storage platforms, Curt recommends using the stabilizing strap?# 18050 to help support the weight and comply with warranty requirements.

etrailer.com delivers super fast shipping, and got me the right receiver for my Golf TDI. FYI for other buyers, you will need a DEEP 3/4 socket for the install in addition to a standard depth 18mm.

Its still going great. No need to adjust or tighten anything. Sidenote - Golfs are pretty low and this hitch does rub speed bumps from time to time.

by:

Easiest Hitch install I have ever done. 2013 GTI Wolfsburg with dual exhaust. Definitely becomes the lowest point of the vehicle so careful of sharp/steep driveways. Perfect for a bike rack.

Still great. Sure a bit low so some minor scraping is the only issue.

by:

Good product and good look at a good price. Doesn't bottom out as much as I thought based on other comments.

However, let's be honest here, installation isn't quite AS easy to pull off as the video would make it look. If doing it yourself, you'll need to get the car on jack stands. Also, the frame bolts are EXTREMELY hard to get out and will require a lot of muscle + creativity thanks to the lousy angle. But once those are out, it's smooth sailing.

Still good!

by:

The product --for the price-- is exceptional, but it's not nearly as good as the e-trailer service. The read-end of my 2014 Golf was banged up in an accident, so I had the body shop that was doing the repairs install the hitch. The bodyshop followed the e trailer online video, and had things ready to go in less than 15 minutes.

This follow up is a testament to e-trailer service - asking me if I was still happy with the hitch. The hitch is flawless, the original installation went quickly and easily, the the hitch its is sturdy and sound. and its the REAR-END of the car that got banged up - not read-end.

I got this for my son so he could haul his e-bike on a bike rack. He absolutely loves it. Ordering was simple and delivery was quick.

Great! He actually leaves it hooked up to his hitch year round. Never know when you want to go for a bike ride.

by:

Delivery fast,good quality,installation easy. Thanks

by:

Overall good hitch. Feels solid after installation. No issues so far.

However, I will say installation took me 4 hours. I’m a bit of a rookie, but even still, that’s a far cry from the 30 minute estimation in the instructions. I can imagine 30 minutes might be possible if you are working in a car shop with a lift and you also remove the back wheels. However, if you’re working in a driveway like me, prepare for a lot more time.

by:

Perfect fit and easy install thanks to Instructional videos provided by etrailer.com. Thank you for the great service over the years! Rhino Rack and Curt Trailer hitch! Now I don’t have to carry my Kayak on the top of my VW with pool noodles and straps through the doors.

by:

I received product with clear concise pictures and installed it myself within an hour. Basically remove two existing bolts to be reused and add two more giving four bolt mounting strength. Well engineered custom piece that fit perfectly.

by:

Fast shipping! Quick and easy install with the install video. Thanks for a great product. Highly recommend!!

by:

Fits perfectly on my 2011 Golf TDI. Install took about 20 minutes, from driving onto the ramps to driving back off them. Piece of cake. Instructions were very clear and precise, including which size sockets you'll need, and torque specs for each fastener.

by:

The most straight forward install ever. Excellent instructions, four bolts and your done. The only thing you really need is a torque wrench. Well designed product and no interference with stock exhaust on my 2011 VW GTI.

by:

Bolted up with no issues. Took me 5 minutes to insga

by:

Easy install - took less than 30 minutes and that was with back trouble. I don't own a torque wrench so after I completed it, I took it to my local mechanic and he finished tightening it up.

I only had trouble with clearance issues once and that was pulling out of my driveway which I rarely park in. Otherwise, it's carried two bikes on a 300 mile round trip very nicely. Very pleased!

by:

I'm excited to have the hitch mount. I used to have a hatch mount for my bikes, but they tend to destroy the paint and my wiper became useless, so with my new car I needed a hitch mount bike rack. Here are a few pictures I just took.

by:

The hitch was delivered in 3 days! The instructions were easy to follow. It took me more than the advertised 30 minutes, but that is because the GTI is very low and I did not raise the car or drive onto boards or ramps. I did approach the bolts from the sides behind the wheels. Tilt the hitch and slide under rear first.

Ordering the bike rack next!

by:

This is the first trailer hitch I've had, and I am super happy with it. Not only did it arrive quickly in the mail, but it was also quick (for my brother) to install- took him about 20 minutes. The hitch looks pretty stealth, barely visible under the back of my VW. The other reviews were very informative and made it easy for me to select this one. Thanks eTrailer!

by:

Easy install and no wobble with my Thule hitch bike rack. Buying another curt trailer hitch for my fiance's SUV.

by:

Was easy to install and it seems extremely solid; even better than the hitch I mounted on my old 2000 VW Golf. For this one I didn't need to drill any holes.

Still works great. Just used it last week.

by:

I received the hitch and my husband and I installed it the next day. Well, we took it to our mechanic. He had it installed quickly. He said it was a great piece of engineering. We now have our bike rack on there and it works great.

I would definitely recommend these hitches, as would my mechanic who was surprised we could order this. Everything went on exactly as planned.

by:

Hitch fit as described. Spent more time locating correct tools, jacking car, and calibrating torque wrench. The exhaust hanger/exhaust muffler is close in proximity to the hitch structure but I have not visually or audibly detected contact.

etrailer.com was prompt with processing the order, notifications, and shipment. This is my second purchase through etrailer and I continue to be impressed by their prompt and courteous service. I will continue to recommend etrailer to anyone looking for hitches or related products.

Product fit perfect and Amy was very helpful in showing me excatly which parts I needed to complete my project
Great customer service and product bolt on ready no custom work

by:

Arrived in a timely manner, as is described on website, packaging was really good, and works perfect on my VW Golf 2013. The only thing I would say doesn't have to do with the product, but the directions in installation. Tip: buy new bolts when removing oem bolts on your VW Golf 2013. Mine torqued to specifications caused the bolt to break. Was a pain to remove a broken bolt, so for others, just go to VW dealership and get 2 new bolts (plenty on hand). Nonetheless, this is such an easy installation. I purchased ramps to work under my car, rented torque tool at car parts store and elongated socket I had to buy. Save yourself money when you follow my tip. I'm certainly enjoying having a hitch! Thanks etrailer.com best price all around!

  • Can I Use the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 to Mount an E-Bike on My 2012 Volkswagen Golf?
While I may have an answer that might work, you cannot use the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 if a single bike exceeds the 65-pound per bike weight capacity. For this reason, you cannot use, say, an 80 pound e-bike by itself or with another bike on the rack even if it stays under 130 pounds. Although, if your e-bike is at a bit above 65 pounds, removing the battery can remove some weight so that you can most likely be under the limit. This is the best option since we do not carry any other...

This is a system rated for 2000 lbs max and 200 lbs tongue weight max, so you will want to make sure your trailer doesn't exceed that and that your towing capacity in your owners manual allows for that.
