Features to know about

Handle Every Haul with Confidence: Class III Strength and 2" Receiver

When you need reliable towing power for trailers, small campers, or cargo carriers, this Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver delivers. It’s rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight of 350 lbs. When used with a weight distribution system, capacity increases to 4,000 lbs GTW and 400 lbs TW. The sturdy, square-tube design gives it the muscle for light to moderate towing while keeping the load steady on the road.

Built to Last Through the Miles: Fully Welded, Powder-Coated Steel

This hitch is made from fully welded steel for lasting strength and stability. The gloss black powder coat finish sits over a protective base layer to guard against rust and corrosion. Whether you’re hauling gear through tough weather or storing it between trips, the durable coating helps maintain a clean look and long service life.

Simple Do-It-Yourself Install: Bolt-On Design with No Welding Required

You don’t need a lift or special tools to get this hitch on your vehicle. The bolt-on installation uses existing hardware and frame holes—no drilling or welding needed. Just line it up, torque it down, and you’re ready to roll. Clear instructions make it straightforward for anyone tackling a weekend project in the driveway.

Ready for Everyday Utility: Fits Common Accessories and Towing Setups

The 2" x 2" receiver opening works with most ball mounts, bike racks, and cargo carriers designed for Class III hitches. That means you can tow your small trailer one day and carry bikes or extra gear the next without hunting for adapters or specialized mounts. It’s an easy way to get more use out of your vehicle any time you need extra hauling space.

Mounted to 2007 Chrysler T&C. Installation a little fiddly (have crow bar/helping hands) but very routine (4 bolts). Installed by myself holding up w/leg. I'm sure you could hang the van from this hitch. Super strong, nice welds. Use to pull assorted trailers. Thanks George!

The hitch and wiring harness I bought from etrailer has made my van so versatile. I am constantly towing a trailer for my business. Ordering was simple with an easy to navigate website. I would recommend them to anyone.

by:

this is the second tow hitch I have purchased from your company. Again, the install time is totally unrealistic! Took 3 hours to get it in. used 2 floor jacks, jack stands, 3lb sledgehammer and beat most of the paint off both sides to get it in. V shaped brackets would not fit around the leaf springs in the back. It almost like you are getting it right and then running through the furnace to bake the paint, which then moved metal supports. It will start rusting immediately where I had to beat it in, It was off about 4 mm, from fitting. it will start rusting immediately from me having to beat it in with the sledge. had to beat in the last one also on the prius. I think you need to check the fit after the oven baking process.

Very satisfied. This is the third trailer hitch that I have ordered from etrailer.com in the past several years. I've installed them on two Subaru's and this time I needed one for a Grand Caravan. This was the easiest installation yet.
I am not a mechanic. I can do basic car maintenance like changing oil, tires, and I've done a few brake jobs. I also don't have a garage to work in. I did the job in my driveway. Backing the van onto ramps gave me more clearance to work underneath, but wasn't necessary. Most important is having the right tools. Sockets with a long extension is essential. Wrenches won't work. Also, safety glasses to keep dirt out of your eyes!!
I did the installation by myself, so it also helped to have a floor jack to hold the hitch in place while I started the bolts. It is heavy. But the hitch fit perfectly with no struggle. I read in a previous review to make sure the hitch is flush against the frame before you start to tighten the bolts so you don't strip them. I couldn't get it completely flush at first but I did snug each bolt slowly and evenly until it seated properly. I also sprayed each bolt and the holes with WD 40. They don't give you bolts, you have to remove and reuse the existing ones, and mine were a bit rusty.
From start to finish, it took about 90 minutes, but it would have been faster if I had all my tools at hand and didn't have to go back and forth to my cellar to get things that I needed.
I haven't towed with it yet, but I'm confident it will pull my little pop-up camper with no problems!!

by:

The safest way to install is to use car ramps instead of jacking your vehicle . I don’t trust car jacks while I’m underneath the weight of a car.

Unbolt three bolts on each side of the spring leaf of your vehicle. Just need two people on each side to lift up and position then bolt it in. Otherwise you will have a hard time installing on your own.

30 minutes. Easy install.

Saved a lot of money. Most hitch install shops wanted $400 and up.

After trying to get a hitch from uhaul (purchasing, waiting, being told finally they didn't have it afterall) I went online and found this one. The process was smooth and the hitch was delivered quickly. I paid uhaul to install it and was able to head out on my trip ther same day.
I used the hitch on my 2005 Chrysler town and country van to haul my two electric bikes from SoCal to Seattle and back. The trip was smooth, the hitch worked perfectly and a year later it still is going strong. Never any problems or concerns.

Easy to order with prompts and help if needed. 2nd time ordering a trailer hitch and wiring harness for the hubby and I am 77 years “young”.
I am hoping my husband will be surprised and very pleased on Christmas morning.

by:

Very difficult to get into position just to get the attach bolts started into the frame. Multiple areas of the hitch need relief cuts and contours to allow hassle free positioning. But the biggest problem is the forward single bolt hole on both sides of the hitch does not line up with the frame hole. This hitch is 1/2 to 3/4 of a hole off. The holes on the hitch need to be moved forward by that amount. So at this point I have the 4 rear most bolts (2 per side )installed and I am unable to get either of the forward bolts installed. Not a good design. I expected better from a CURT product.

Hey, Jeffrey. I'm sorry to hear how the install went for you. These hitches are made of a mild flex steel and sometimes because of their size and shape, sometimes trailer hitches get flexed during shipping or transport. I've included some information about flexing and how to get the hitch installed.

by:

First of all the hitch showed up five days earlier than advertised which was great! It took about thirty minutes by myself to install. I had the help of a floor jack to keep it in place while lining up holes and reinstalling bolts. Very pleased with how well everything lined up. Quality workmanship indeed!

Hitch looks like the day I installed it even though I live in an area where road salt is used. Hasn’t rusted like some cheaper models. I use it with a bicycle carrier carrying four bikes and it works great. I would definitely recommend this hitch.

by:

I have purchased two trailer hitches over the past 4-5 years. Both were well built and can be installed by the buyer. The instructions are clear.
The first was for a 2001 Olds van and I had very little problems putting it on. This included wiring and all. I had to replace the van and got a Dodge grand caravan sxt. Due to the van frame the hitch had to be moved around frame parts and due to the weight of the hitch, I ended up having a shop install it.
It was just too heavy for a 75 year old man to install by himself. Both hitches were/are great.
I hauled an open uhaul trailer from Alabama to NC several times and then from Knoxville to Raleigh for several trips. I continue using the hitch to haul a small trailer locally for relatives.
Yes, if I have to trade vans again, I would order another hitch form etrailer.

So far so good.
Installation on my 2005
Chrysler T & C was not as easy as the video suggested
Took it to a garage to be put up on the lift
Had to use a pry bar to get past the rear bushings
Once that occurred, it fit very well and up tight against the bumper

Perfect fit very well designed. I have a hoist which makes installation easier. If installing without a hoist I recommend putting the car on jack stands allowing the rear axle to hang down to give the needed clearance to install the hitch. There are four bolts on either side with three behind the leaf spring shackle and one forward of the shackle. This forward attachment point will require some twisting and adjusting angles to get it into position above the leaf spring. I lifted the hitch in at an angle with the passenger side close to the axle and the driver side to the rear getting the forward brackets of the hitch above the leaf spring before squaring up the hitch. As this hitch uses existing rear frame bolts you should verify that your bolts will loosen up before installing. I used Kroil penetrating oil on the bolts to loosen them a couple days before I installed. I installed by myself, but I recommend having and extra set of hands to make the job easier. I have this on hitch on my 2005 and 2007 Chrysler Town and Country vans.

by:

I wanted a hitch for my Grand Caravan to do be able to tow my small utility trailer, and maybe a pop-up camper. I purchased this model because of the choices I had this one should have been easiest to install. The installation of this hitch went easier than I expected. I had someone help me lift and position the hitch into place, which made the overall installation one of the fastest I have performed. I didn't even have to do much prying to get it to line up to the holes. The only complaint I have is due to the tight space this hitch was designed for, I get a little exhaust rattle now as there is only about a 1/4" of space between the muffler and hitch. Some of that could be due to the age and mileage of the vehicle, so I may need to do some adjusting of the exhaust system and replace worn hangers to see if that cures the issue. Other than that, I am very pleased with this product.

I was able to install the trailer hitch in about 30 minutes as advertised. It's the best quality and best looking hitch I have ever had in my whole life. The only thing that would have better with the whole experience is if there would have been some written or physical instruction as to how maneuver the hitch into the proper position on the vehicle. Upon first inspecting the hitch my first instinct was "it will never fit, it must be the wrong one" After realizing that it would in fact fit with the proper manipulation my confidence was restored and it was a wonderful installation. Thank you very much!

I like it just fine. Its a wonderful product and Im going to be buying another one soon.

by:

The Curt Trailer Hitch was a perfect fit. However, it was a struggle to mate the hitch flange for bolting. However, the two of us were working with close clearance and fitting the two ends in the area of the vehicle springs and spring mounts. Using a vehicle lift would have made the job easier. Instructions were easy to follow. It is a two-person job to install the hitch. The hitch is made of high quality and really looks nice!

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with Stow N Go.Installation was a snap. Solid hitch.

by:

I have never been so happy to have bought this product. Its has gone way past my expectations. Easy to install, and has held up and pull so much more then I ever thought it could. The staff at etrailer has been awesome, the service has been awesome, I will continue to do business here.

by:

Originally I ordered a different hitch thru U-Haul, but they said it was too difficult to install and they couldn't do it, so I came here and found this model. It fits perfectly. The product seems to be very well made. No hardware provided as it uses existing bolts already on car. I had it installed at local garage. They didn't want to do it, but I explained that the video showed it was easy, so they agreed to take a look. In the end they said it was difficult to get past springs, but they did it and I'm happy.

by:

Quality hitch. Easy to install using existing bolts on van. Will be using bike rack and I have already tested it out. Works great and very solid.Highly recommend this product and etrailers information and videos help to pick right one for your application. Thanks etrailer!

by:

Shipping from Missouri to Colorado was fast. I had the hitch shipped to a UPS terminal and when I arrived to pick it up it was pointed out to me that it had broken through the box in two places. Packing rates a C minus.
I installed the hitch as a solo effort made easier by getting the van up on jack stands and using my floor jack to position the rather heavy hitch. To say the fit is tight is an understatement. Eventually, everything went together but I had to get out the BFH to do some fine tuning.
The hitch hugs the rear bumper and is unobtrusive. If it weathers well I'll be quite pleased with the unit.

by:

Very fast shipping. Curt hitches are very good quality hitches. I have bought them before and they work great. Install was not hard but a little tricky. I definitely used and needed 2 people for the install. Everything fit perfectly once installed. The videos on etrailer were awesome to watch and made installation very easy. A word of advice: make sure to spray down the mounting bolts on your vehicle a couple of days before your install. Then try and pre-loosen them before your install day as well. This will make for a smoother install. (Actually I did this even before ordering the hitch to make sure my bolts would come loose and the install would be possible)

by:

Installation was somewhat difficult. The hitch was about a 1/2 in to narrow. I needed a piece of wood and a 3lb hammer to set the hitch in place. The attached photo shows the interference with the body flange.

It then took a specific bolt tightening sequence to get the holes to line up.
1. The most forward, single bolt was started.
2. The center alignment bolt for the leaf spring bracket had to be 3/4 tightened.
This step aligned the rest of the holes.
3. The rest of the bolts could then be installed.

I have not yet towed, but I'm confident the Hitch will pull my pop-up with no problems.

I will review the wire harness separately.

by:

Works like advertised. Would be nice if they included a note on how to adjust the hitch (widen it) when it's slightly narrower than the car's bolt pattern. I called in and then they told me. Would have saved me an hour's struggle.

by:

Wiring kit was straight forward. The hitch was a struggle to install. This is not a reflection on etrailer, as I began, the installation of the hitch, discovered that the vehicle had a prior hitch and found broken bolts that was time-consuming to match and remove as well as the hitch itself seemed not to fit that well, but we were able to be successful.
