I have a solution for you but to answer your question, no that hitch will not fit a 2005 Dodge Caravan. That hitch isn't in our system but it looks like it is a uhaul hitch receiver for a Subaru Forester.
I have two options for you depending on whether or not your buddy has the stow-n-go seats in his van. If he has the stow-n-go seats you're going to want the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver 2" item # 13389. This is a class III hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs.
If his van doesn't have the stow-n-go seats you will need the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver 2" item # C13362. This is also a class III hitch with a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 400 lbs. I have attached installation videos for both hitches so you can follow along with the process.
I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector item # C55537. This harness provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. It connects to existing wiring harnesses behind the tail lights so you won't have to cut or splice into the van's wiring. I have attached a video of this harness being installed on a Dodge Caravan so you can see how easy of an install this wiring system is.
To round out your towing setup I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" Ball, a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop, and is rated for up to 7,500 lbs. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
