Dimensions

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

  • Flat Towing Setup Recommendation For A 2022 Buick Encore GX
For your 2022 Buick Encore GX, you're going to need a high low adapter, a base plate, a tow bar, wiring a braking system, and safety cables. Let's start with a base plate, I recommend the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM32FR. This base plate creates a clean design when not in use and allow for quick connection and disconnection. Next, you'll need a tow bar. For this, I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon 2 # RM-520. This tow bar is capable of handling up to 6,000lbs, which is...

  • Can I Reverse the Shank on the Benton LittleShift Bike Rack for 1 Bike so I can Get More Clearance?
Hello Mike, I’m sorry, but you cannot mount the shank upside down on the Benton LittleShift Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 2" Hitches - Wheel or Frame Mount # B54VR. If you’d like to lower the rack for more clearance, I recommend using the Patriot Hitches Adjustable Drop Hitch Receiver Adapter - 2" Hitches - 11" Rise/Drop - 7K # PH54FR. This will give you the extra clearance you need. A more cost-effective alternative would be the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter # RM-070, which provides a 4" drop...

  • High-Low Adapter for 2026 Entegra Odyssey SE 22C Towing 2025 Ford Maverick
Hey John, welcome back! For a flat towing setup you want to be +/- 3" of level which is considered the safe zone. If you want to use a Roadmaster the # RM-070 with a 4" rise/drop you looked at will work just fine. If you want to get it a little closer the etrailer High-Low Adjustable Adapter for Tow Bars # e52ZV gets the closest to 5". It won't be right at 5 since the holes are 1-1/4" apart but you'll only be off 1/4".

  • Looking For Rims For 30 Year Old Utility Trailer
Hey Ron, thanks for reaching out. I can tell you right off the bat that there are no wheels available that match you specs. All of our 15" wheels will have either a 3.19" pilot hole with a 5 lug pattern, or a 4.25" pilot hole with 6 lug pattern. The 5 lug wheels will be either 5 on 4-1/2", or 5 on 5". Then the 6 lug wheels are all 6 on 5-1/5". A 4-1/8" bolt pattern is not something commonly used for trailers. A lot of older trailers use parts that are now obsolete, and it sounds like...

  • How to Adjust Hitch Height of RV To Allow Vehicle to Flat Tow with Tow Bar Level

  • Parts Needed To Flat Tow A 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
The Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 that we offer doesn't come with safety cables included so I don't know the exact length that you have, but we tend you usually need to add on quick links, like part # 37201345, whenever a high/low adapter is used. These quick links are approximately 4" in length to help bridge the gap left by the # RM-070. Without having the baseplate installed and the motorhome nearby to measure the hitch height it can be a total guess whether or not an adapter...

  • Kuat Sherpa Bike Rack Partially Melted from Exhaust When Folded
You could use an adapter like the Roadmaster # RM-070 to achieve a 4 inch rise, which would work pretty well for you. Keep in mind that using an extender/adapter like this will lower the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50% due to the fact that the adapter would move the load further away from the vehicle and exert additional leverage on the hitch and its attachment points to the vehicle.

  • Are Roadmaster or Blue Ox Base Plates Easier to Install on 2011 Honda CR-V
Between the base plates that fit your 2011 Honda CR-V, the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2246 and Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521559-5, I recommend the Roadmaster as it will be the slightly easier installation. The reason for that is the Roadmaster does not require having to saw off part of the bumper core in order to install the base plates, which the Blue Ox does require. That is the major difference between the two installs so if it were my 2011 Honda CR-V I would definitely...

  • Recommendation to Gain Ground Clearance When Carrying a Scooter Carrier and Scooter
What I would recommend is the Curt MultiPurpose Ball mount part # D210. This product will give you 6 inches of rise for your carrier without cutting the tongue weight of your hitch in half like most hitch extenders do. Check out the review video I attached for this product.

  • Which High/Low Adapter for Flat Towing Lifted Jeep
    You'll need a high/low adapter to bring the tow bar within 3 inches +/- of level. The adapter you need will depend on the height difference between the base plates and the receiver on the motorhome/tow vehicle. Roadmaster offers several different adapters: • For a 2 inch rise/drop, use # RM-072-2 • For a 4 inch rise/drop, use # RM-070 • For a 6 inch rise/drop, use # RM-048-6 • For a 8 inch rise/drop, use # RM-048-8 • For a 10-1/4 inch rise/drop, use # RM-048-10 I've linked to an article...

  • Recommended Adapter for Ground Clearance of Bike Rack
The Curt Dual 2" Receiver Tube Adapter, 8" Extension # D-192 will work well to give you the extra height you desire but using any adapter will reduce your hitch tongue weight by 50%. This won't be an issue with a Curt Class III hitch is you just use your Ridgeback # Y02457. A similar option for more height is the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 but it will also extend the length of the hitch 2-1/2 more inches than the # D-192. This will probably result in the adapter...

  • Tongue Weight Capacity of RoadMaster High-Low Drop Adapter # RM-070
When you have all 4 wheels of the toad on the ground, the tongue weight is next to nothing. The 200 pound rating does account for sudden but brief increases in tongue weight such as bumps in the road. The idea of using a high-low adapter like # RM-070 is so that the tow bar is level. A level tow bar means the tongue weight will be low.

Since your 2012 Jeep Wrangler would have a 2 inch hitch the adapter you'd want is the Roadmaster part # RM-070 instead as the one you mentioned is for a 2-1/2 inch trailer hitch. Then for a locking anti-rattle device we have the Anti-Rattle Device part # 63232 which would work well. It's a lock that holds the shank of the adapter tight to the hitch tube to prevent movement.
