Question:
I have a 2009 Toyota Sienna and a Yakima Ridgeback 2 bike rack. When I have even minor change in the road pitch steep driveway, drain ditch, etc. my bike rack bottoms out. I am looking for a way to lift the hole on my hitch so my rack is higher. My receiver is 2. I have a Curt III hitch. What do you suggest to fix my problem?

Expert Reply:
The Curt Dual 2" Receiver Tube Adapter, 8" Extension # D-192 will work well to give you the extra height you desire but using any adapter will reduce your hitch tongue weight by 50%. This won't be an issue with a Curt Class III hitch is you just use your Ridgeback # Y02457.
A similar option for more height is the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 but it will also extend the length of the hitch 2-1/2 more inches than the # D-192. This will probably result in the adapter hitting the ground.
Another option is the Roadmaster High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars # RM-070 which will give you the rise you desire, but will also give you about the same clearance as the # D-192.
