For my 2005 Ram 2500 4WD. This product is well made and I am looking forward to using it for a winch that can go on the front or rear of my truck and may get carrying racks, etc. I believe the product I received was damaged in shipping. The span between the flanges that bolt to the sides of the truck frame was about an inch narrower than the distance to the outsides of the truck frame where the hitch fastens to the vehicle. One of the flanges was badly out of square. I widened the gap by placing the flange in a vise and pulling on the end of the hitch till it was closer to square. Then I used a large crescent wrench to tweak both sides till the dang thing would go on. Then I still had to use a pretty big hammer to wack it into place. Also, this installation was very difficult for me to do alone on the ground. A buddy and a lift would have made this much easier. The included fish wires were super effective and high quality; once the bolts are in place just thread the wire through the mounting holes in the hitch as you lift it into place. Went much easier than I expected. Instructions say use a hole saw, I used a step drill bit and that worked well, except for the small burns I got from hot chips raining down

Ram 2500

My particular model of vehicle (03 Dodge 2500 pickup) was a very easy install. I am very happy with the Curt Front Hitch. Now I can easily mount my winch, bicycle rack and a cargo hitch to the front of my truck.

2007 Dodge Ram Pickup

The hitch is very well made and arrive in 2 days! Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Very satisfied with my purchase.

Dodge Ram Pickup

Quality product that is low profile and fits the truck nicely. On my '03 Dodge Ram 2500, I was able to retain my Banks Ram Air intake that mounts below it!

by:

Great hitch. Did take longer than expected to install but not a big problem. The hitch fits well on my truck.

by:

Awsome product. We needed it to maneuver our trailer into a very tight space alongside our garage. It does the trick ever time.

by:

Great unit. Well made and fit nicely.
Only
reason it did not get 5 stars is the instructions are a bit vague. Be prepared to spend some time drilling larger than expected holes to get the bolts in place.
Nice piece at a very fair price overall.

2004 Dodge Ram Pickup

Excellent customer service and consistent followup provided me with the perfect product and support. Thanks etrailer team.

by:

the hitch looked great but i ordered the wrong one and had to send it back

by:

Seems like a quality product, however, did have to dill a few holes to make this work.

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab
We do have a couple of possible options for front mount hitches for your 2008 Dodge Ram 3500 Mega Cab. You can use # 65046. There is some minor drilling required, see instructions, but you will likely not have to do any trimming. I have included a link to the instructions to the right. I have also linked a video showing installation. The other option is # C31017. It will NOT fit Laramie models though. The same drilling and possible trimming applies to this hitch as well since it installs...

  • Differences Between Curt C31017 and Draw-Tite 65046 on 2007 Dodge Ram Truck
There's a few differences. • The Curt # C31017 is manufactured in the US, while the Draw-Tite # 65046 is manufactured in Mexico. • When installed, the Curt hitch will sit higher on the vehicle for more ground clearance. The underside of the receiver tube will sit even with the bottom of the fascia under the bumper. The fascia will need to be notched so the receiver can pass through it. Unless you're planning on carrying something very heavy on the front of the truck like a generator...

Yes, the Curt front hitch part # C31017 that you referenced will fit your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Power Wagon. We checked with Curt and the only version of the 2005 Ram 2500 or 3500 that this hitch won't fit is the 3500 Laramie.

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500
Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" Item # C31017 will fit tighter under the front bumper of your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 compared to other options so for ground clearance I recommend going with it. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you want more than 350 pounds capacity though the only other option is Draw-Tite hitch # 65046 rated at 500 pounds vertical load. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.

  • Front Hitch That Fits 2008 Dodge Ram 1500

  • Front Trailer Hitch For 2006 Dodge Ram 2500
The hitch you mentioned will not fit your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 as it is for later model years as you said. There isn't a front hitch for your truck that mounts where the tow hooks are, the hitch will fit on the frame, and for that use the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31017.

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch for a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Laramie Mega Cab Diesel
We have 2 front mount receivers for the 2007 Dodge Ram 2500, # C31017 and # 65046. Both will have the receiver under the bottom of the front bumper. At this time there are no front mounts that will place the receiver in the same opening as the tow hooks. I have linked installation instructions for both hitches and a link to a video showing a typical installation of # 65046.

  • Front Hitch Recommendation for 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 for Best Ground Clearance
The best ground clearance front hitch we offer for your 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 is the Curt # C31017 which installs through the front air dam which means it doesn't take away any ground clearance. We don't have one that installs up higher than this though.

  • Why Does Curt Exclude the Front Mount Hitch # C31017 For a 2005 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie
I spoke with my technical contact at Curt referencing the front hitch # C31017 and he gave me the following reasons why Curt states that this hitch will not fit your 2005 Dodge 3500 Laramie. The manufacturing of the 3500 Laramie is physically slightly different than the other Dodge Ram trucks with reference to how aftermarket products can mount. With this difference the Laramie does not have a standard fit for some aftermarket products. Because the Laramie has a completely different bumper,...

  • Front-Mount Hitch Receiver for Use on 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup
The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31320 that you referenced is a fit for the Ram 1500 but not the 2500 series. We do offer two options in a front-mount 2-inch hitch for your 2500 that can be seen on the link provided. Both the Draw-Tite # 65046 and the Curt # C31017 will require some trimming of the front air dam as well as some drilling. There is not currently a no-drill/no-trim hitch option for your truck. • Total Drop of Curt Front Mounted Receiver # C31017
I contacted my Curt Manufacturing rep, who tells me the total drop of their # C31017 is 4-1/4 inches. The drop is the distance from the top surface of the mounting flange that would sit flat against the underside of the frame members to the lowest point of the receiver tube. So, if you'd measure downward from the underside of your frame member by 4-1/4 inches, you'll have a very good idea of where the lowest point of the hitch would sit. I've edited a photo that shows this distance. Hitch...

  • How Far Down Does a Front Trailer Hitch Hang for Ground Clearance on a 2006 Dodge Ram
Once installed the Draw-Tite front hitch # 65046 will have the receiver just about directly under the front bumper. Measure down from the front bumper 2-1/2 inches on your 2006 Dodge Ram and that will be the approximate location of the lowest part of the hitch (which is the bottom of the receiver). • Will the Curt Front Hitch Work with Ranch Hand Legend Grille Guard on 2008 Ram 2500

  • Comparing Curt and Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitches for a 2006 Dodge Ram and Winch
The Draw-Tite front hitch # 65046 is slightly less invasive than the Curt hitch # C31017 and thus will provide slightly less ground clearance but ultimately they are very close. The vertical pull capacity is basically like tongue weight on a rear mounted hitch. If you are not going to apply downward force to the hitch then the lower capacity of the Curt hitch should not be an issue. You mentioned using the hitch for a winch so there are some cases where vertical pull is a factor. For example...

  • Which Front Mount Receiver for 2007 Ram 3500 Will Not Require Bumper Fascia Trimming
Your perception is correct. The Curt # C31017 would install so that the top of the receiver tube sits about 1.63 inches (about 1-5/8) below the underside of the frame member of the truck. This means that if your truck has the rubber or plastic fascia, you'll need to notch it. This hitch is NOT compatible with Laramie models. The same dimension for the Draw-Tite # 65046 is 4-1/2 inches, which should place the top of the receiver tube against the underside of the fascia under the bumper,...

  • Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie
Curt hitch # C31017 is not listed as a fit for the 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 Laramie models. The original answer you received stated that it could fit but you would have to grind down the tow hook brackets some to get the hitch to fit (as one customer reported). So it can fit if you are willing to do that. The Draw-Tite hitch on the other hand, # 65046, is designed to fit all models of the 2006 Ram 3500 without any special requirements. I have linked a video showing an example installation for you.
