Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Round-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. It is going to be a 10 bolt design. The base rails are going to provide necessary attachment points for your 5th wheel trailer hitch. The universal brackets are designed so that they fit most applications, and then the adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. The kit's going to include both rails, four brackets, two larger ones with more mounting options, and then the two smaller ones, and it's going to include all the hardware that you need, all the instructions, and the fish wire that you just thread onto the end of the bolt, and you can bring it through the appropriate hole as needed. It makes it a little bit easier to get the bolts in the right place. Some compatible hitches are going to be Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.

This does work with RBW Li'l Rocker Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch. It will not fit the Reese Elite Series Signature Series or Valley UBS hitches. It's made from a nice solid steel construction with a nice black powder coated finish on it, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. .

  • Will An RBW X-16 Fifth Wheel HItch Fit Into a Reese Install Kit like Part RP50081-58
It may be compatible. Both the Custom Install Kit RP50081-58 and the Semi-Custom Kit part # RP30035-426 are compatible most RBW hitches, but some will not fit properly. If you write back with model of RBW hitch you have, I can verify whether that particular hitch is compatible.

  • How to Pull a Fifth Wheel Trailer With 5-1/2 Foot Bed Ford Truck
The only way for you to pull a fifth wheel trailer with a 5-1/2 foot bed is to use a Sidewinder and fixed fifth wheel; a sliding hitch would not give you enough clearance between the hitch and cab and would not allow you enough space to turn without your trailer smashing your cab. If you let me know the year and model of your Ford truck I may be able to find a set up for you. In the meantime please take a look at the help articles I've linked on fifth wheels and Sidewinders.

  • Fifth Wheel Install Kit for 2013 Ford F150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed Length
The Reese Semi-Custom Install Kit you referenced, part # RP30035-426 is indeed a compatible fit for your 2013 Ford F150 Super Crew. The install kit uses industry-standard fifth wheel bed rails that are compatible with your Husky hitch. For a custom install/bracket kit that uses existing holes in the truck's frame which would be considerably easier to install, use # RP50081-58. In order to gain the proper clearance between the rear of the truck cab and the front of the fifth wheel, a Sidewinder...

  • Parts To Install Husky EZ Roller 5th Wheel Hitch in 2011 Ford F-150 Super Cab 5.6 Short Bed
We do have an installation kit that will work with your Husky EZ roller and your 2011 Ford F-150 Super Cab w/ 5.6 bed. You will need the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, RP30035-426. In addition to the installation kit, it is required to use a Sidewinder King Pin, so that you have clearance to make sharp turns since you have a 5-1/2 foot bed. A Sidewinder moves the pivot point of the trailer connection rearward and will provide an additional 22 inches of clearance. In order to choose...

  • Can I Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2002 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 Foot Bed
I'll start by saying that we do not recommend that you install a fifth wheel hitch on a 2002 Ford F-150 with the 5-1/2 foot bed. You would have to use a Sidewinder pin box with a standard hitch, which moves the pivot point back 22 inches toward the tailgate; and even with the Sidewinder installed on your vehicle you will not get enough clearance between the truck cab and your fifth wheel when making a 90 degree turn. We recommend at least 4 inches of clearance and with the Sidewinder it...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Base Rails and Sliding Hitch for 2007 Ford F-150 With 6-1/2 Foot Bed
From what I found, your Shasta M235-RB is 24 feet long, 7 foot 9 inches wide, has tandem axles and is 4,955 lbs but without the year that will be just a pretty close estimate. It is enough information to know that it is a very lightweight trailer and with your 2007 Ford F-150 with 6.5 foot bed, we can make sure your sliding hitch recommendation will work without going too overboard because you don't need a high capacity hitch. My recommendation for you is the Reese Quick-Install Custom...

If you are using semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-426 on your 2011 Ford F-150 then measure from the rear edge of the bed (not the tailgate) forward 29-5/16 inches. This is where the back edge of the rear rail will be. With the rear rail in position you would then use the hitch in the rear rail to locate the position of the front rail. The Reese Quick-Install Custom Bracket Kit, # RP50081, requires the 10 bolt rails, # RP58058. They will not be compatible with the 4 bolt rails, 30095. In terms of Reese rail products, there are 2 possible options for brackets and rails. First is the semi-custom install kit # RP30035-426. • Does a Short Bed Truck Need a Slider if the Trailer has Max Turn Technology
From the research I did it looks like trailers that have the Max Turn Technology don't require that the truck towing them have a slider hitch if they are a short bed. So you could use a stationary hitch then. For a hitch I would recommend the Reese 20k Hitch part # RP30081 that you referenced. This is a great hitch at a great price. Check out the review video for more info. For a rail kit I would recommend the semi-custom install kit # RP30035-426.

Even though your Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch, like # RP30075, is rated up to your trailers GVWR of 16,000 lbs, I would not recommend using this hitch to pull this trailer. Being that you are right at the limit the potential for overload is great with a 16K hitch. I recommend upgrading to a hitch like the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider - Single Jaw - 20,000 lbs, # RP30083. This Reese hitch has a 20K gross towing capacity and a vertical load limit of 5,000 lbs. The Reese...

  • Is a Longer Pin Box Available for a 5th Wheel Trailer with Lippert 1116 Pin Box
The replacement pin boxes that we carry are roughly the same dimensions as the pin boxes they are made to replace and would not provide you the additional 12 inches you are looking for. In order to get the length you need I do recommend a Sidewinder. For a Lippert 1116 pin box you can use: 16K Air ride Sidewinder, # RP61412 I have included links to our FAQ articles on Sidewinders and air ride pin boxes. One thing that I noticed was that you have Pro Series hitch # PS30132 which is...

  • Location of 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2055 Dodge Ram 2500 with 6-1/2 Bed
The head unit of your 5th wheel hitch should sit above or slightly in front of the rear axle on your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 with the 6-1/2' bed. The exact location though will be determined by where your base rails sit. We have a few different options of base rails with the difference being the difficulty of installation. With all of the kits the distance from the back of your cab to where the king pin sits will be about 36" which you can use to get an idea for where your hitch will sit. If...

  • Difference Between Square and Round Tube Fifth Wheel Slider Bases
Round tube sliders are preferred as they operate smoother and easier. The square tube sliders will get the job done but the round ones will just work a bit easier. The Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Round Tube Slider # RP30075 will a great option that would work well to replace what you have. It will give you more turning clearance around corners to prevent cab interference.

  • What is Correct Placement Of Goose Neck Hitch Ball in Full Size Pickup
A goose neck hitch ball, or the center of a 5th wheel hitch head for that matter, will be located either right over the rear axle or an inch or so forward of it. You do not want a goose neck hitch ball to be located behind the rear axle since this would cause the trailer's tongue weight to push down on the rear end causing lots of sag and at the same time lift the front end of the truck. The elevated front end would cause your lights to be aimed too high and would also negatively affect...

  • Can One Fifth Wheel Hitch Be Used in Ford and GMC Trucks with Factory Rail Kits
If you used the appropriate rail kit adapter in each truck you'd be able to use the same fifth wheel hitch. For the Ford truck you'd need the part # RP30156 and for the GMC 3500 you'd need the Demco adapter part # DM6194 for if you have a short bed truck or part # DM6206 for if you have a long bed. If the trucks have short beds you'd need a slider like the Reese part #RP30075 or if you have a long bed truck you'd want the # RP30047.

  • Converting Reese 16K Round Tube Slider Hitch to Stationary Base
If your Reese 16K slider hitch is part # RP30075 then you can indeed use fixed leg kit # RP30727 to convert it to a stationary hitch and save a bit of weight. If you have the Reese Titan series 16K hitch RP30869 then the correct fixed leg kit is part # RP58449. I confirmed the compatibility of these two kits with the above-referenced hitches with my technical contact at Reese.

  • Converting Fixed Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch to Slider for Cab Clearance with 5-1/2 Foot Bed
It sounds like you have the Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch model # RP30047. If this is the case then you can simply replace the fixed legs with the Reese Square Tube Slider # RP30048 in order to convert it to a sliding model. Please keep in mind though that while a sliding hitch will certainly provide you with more cab clearance compared to a fixed unit, typically with a 5-1/2 foot bed a pivoting pin box on the trailer is needed to allow for 90 degree turns. The Reese slider will offer 10...

  • Reese Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation to Replace an Older Reese Hitch in a GMC Sierra
Your old Reese hitch is designed to fit the same industry standard rail dimensions that the current fifth wheel hitches like the part # RP30047 would fit. The # RP30047 would be a great option for you if you had a long bed truck. It has a slightly higher towing capacity than your previous hitch and features a 2 piece jaw that provides great king pin contact. It will install easily in your current rails. I attached a review video for this hitch for you to check out as well. Since you have...

  • Curt Hitch Compared to Reese 16k Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation
I personally like Reese fifth wheel hitches more than the Reese hitches. The only thing the Curt hitches really have going for them is they have higher capacities. Reason I like Reese more is that we see more Curt hitches come back with issues here and there than the Reese hitches we sell more of. The head material of the Curt hitches seems to be softer and when you combine that with the wider funnel of them they tend to get chewed up easier. Also we get more question that deal with Curt...
