Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035-426 Review

Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for fifth-wheel trailer hitches on the Ford F-150 trucks. Now this part is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2004 to 2014 Ford F-150 trucks, all bed sizes, and on a custom fit part, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use our fit guide, put in your year and model of vehicle, and it will show you if this will work for your application. Now these 10-bolt base rails are what will sit in your truck bed. They do provide the necessarily attachment points for fifth-wheel trailer hitches. The semi-custom brackets right here is what will mount beneath your truck bed. They provide the attachment points for these fifth-wheel rails.

Now these mounting brackets are specifically designed to fit your Ford F-150. Now the base rails themselves, they are compatible with fifth-wheel hitches by Kirk Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky, Reese, and Valley brands and most standard fifth-wheel hitches. They will not fit the Reese Elite Series or Valley UBS hitches. All these parts you can see are a sturdy steel construction. They have a nice black, powder coat finish to them to help resist corrosion. This part will include everything shown here all on the table.

The two 10-bolt base rails, the universal brackets, the semi-custom brackets, all the hardware needed for all those brackets, and a nice set of detailed instructions on how to install everything, but that should do it for the review on the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for fifth-wheel trailer hitches on the Ford F-150 trucks.

  • Will An RBW X-16 Fifth Wheel HItch Fit Into a Reese Install Kit like Part RP50081-58
It may be compatible. Both the Custom Install Kit RP50081-58 and the Semi-Custom Kit part # RP30035-426 are compatible most RBW hitches, but some will not fit properly. If you write back with model of RBW hitch you have, I can verify whether that particular hitch is compatible.

  • How to Pull a Fifth Wheel Trailer With 5-1/2 Foot Bed Ford Truck
The only way for you to pull a fifth wheel trailer with a 5-1/2 foot bed is to use a Sidewinder and fixed fifth wheel; a sliding hitch would not give you enough clearance between the hitch and cab and would not allow you enough space to turn without your trailer smashing your cab. If you let me know the year and model of your Ford truck I may be able to find a set up for you. In the meantime please take a look at the help articles I've linked on fifth wheels and Sidewinders.

  • Parts To Install Husky EZ Roller 5th Wheel Hitch in 2011 Ford F-150 Super Cab 5.6 Short Bed
We do have an installation kit that will work with your Husky EZ roller and your 2011 Ford F-150 Super Cab w/ 5.6 bed. You will need the Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit, RP30035-426. In addition to the installation kit, it is required to use a Sidewinder King Pin, so that you have clearance to make sharp turns since you have a 5-1/2 foot bed. A Sidewinder moves the pivot point of the trailer connection rearward and will provide an additional 22 inches of clearance. In order to choose...

  • Fifth Wheel Install Kit for 2013 Ford F150 with 5-1/2 Foot Bed Length
The Reese Semi-Custom Install Kit you referenced, part # RP30035-426 is indeed a compatible fit for your 2013 Ford F150 Super Crew. The install kit uses industry-standard fifth wheel bed rails that are compatible with your Husky hitch. For a custom install/bracket kit that uses existing holes in the truck's frame which would be considerably easier to install, use # RP50081-58. In order to gain the proper clearance between the rear of the truck cab and the front of the fifth wheel, a Sidewinder...

  • Can I Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2002 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 Foot Bed
I'll start by saying that we do not recommend that you install a fifth wheel hitch on a 2002 Ford F-150 with the 5-1/2 foot bed. You would have to use a Sidewinder pin box with a standard hitch, which moves the pivot point back 22 inches toward the tailgate; and even with the Sidewinder installed on your vehicle you will not get enough clearance between the truck cab and your fifth wheel when making a 90 degree turn. We recommend at least 4 inches of clearance and with the Sidewinder it...

  • Position of 5th Wheel Rails in a 2011 Ford F-150 5-1/2 Foot Bed Using Semi-Custom Kit RP30035-426
If you are using semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-426 on your 2011 Ford F-150 then measure from the rear edge of the bed (not the tailgate) forward 29-5/16 inches. This is where the back edge of the rear rail will be. With the rear rail in position you would then use the hitch in the rear rail to locate the position of the front rail. I have included links to the 2 sets of instructions for this kit for you.

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Rail Kit For 2005 Ford F-150 with Dimensions
For your 2005 Ford F-150, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP50081-58. This will give you the standard 43 inch rails with custom brackets so you don't need to drill into your truck frame. It will utilize pre-existing holes in the frame for a strong and secure fit. Another option is to use the # RP30035-426 which will also give you the brackets specific to your vehicle. This is better than the most economical and...

  • Does a Short Bed Truck Need a Slider if the Trailer has Max Turn Technology
From the research I did it looks like trailers that have the Max Turn Technology don't require that the truck towing them have a slider hitch if they are a short bed. So you could use a stationary hitch then. For a hitch I would recommend the Reese 20k Hitch part # RP30081 that you referenced. This is a great hitch at a great price. Check out the review video for more info. For a rail kit I would recommend the semi-custom install kit # RP30035-426.

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for 2013 Ford F-150 5-1/2 foot Bed
The Husky fifth wheel hitch CP 07054 you referenced is designed to fit industry standard fifth wheel rails. For a rail kit that is custom fit for your 2013 Ford F-150 which would work well you'd want the Reese kit part # RP50081-58. This is a custom install kit which means that it will install in less time and minimize drilling over a universal kit like you referenced. Since your truck bed is less than 6 feet though you'll need to use a Sidewinder pin box installed on your trailer to give...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Base Rails and Sliding Hitch for 2007 Ford F-150 With 6-1/2 Foot Bed
From what I found, your Shasta M235-RB is 24 feet long, 7 foot 9 inches wide, has tandem axles and is 4,955 lbs but without the year that will be just a pretty close estimate. It is enough information to know that it is a very lightweight trailer and with your 2007 Ford F-150 with 6.5 foot bed, we can make sure your sliding hitch recommendation will work without going too overboard because you don't need a high capacity hitch. My recommendation for you is the Reese Quick-Install Custom...

  • Recommend Base Rails for a PullRite Model 2700 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2013 Ford F-150 Truck
From what I found the PullRite SuperGlide 2700 is one of the models that fits industry standard above the bed rails. Semi-custom installation kit # RP30035-426 does come with industry standard rails so it will fit the hitch and your 2013 Ford F-150 with 5-1/2 foot bed. You could also use the Reese Quick-Install Base Rails, # RP50081-58, on your 2013 Ford F-150. The Quick-Install rails will reduce installation time due to the reduced amount of frame drilling that is required during installation.

This is where the back edge of the rear rail will be. Once it is in place you will use the hitch to position the front rail. • Where Do Fifth Wheel Rails Install in Bed of 2005 Ford F-150 5-1/2 ft Bed
When installing a semi-custom fifth wheel rail kit in your 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 foot bed like the Reese Kit part # RP30035-426 the rear edge of the rear rail needs to be placed 29-5/16 inches from the rear edge of the truck bed. Once that rail is placed the front rail is placed with a fifth wheel hitch. Basically you'd put the rear legs of the hitch in the rear rail and then wherever that places the front rail is where it needs to install.

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for an RBW Lil Rocker and 2007 Ford Supercrew 6.5 Foot Bed
I cannot recommend using the RBW rails with another brand installation kit because they have not been tested together. However, we do know that the RBW Lil Rocker will fit in the Reese 5th wheel rails. So what I recommend is going ahead and getting a kit that you know is compatible and avoid any compatibility issues. The semi-universal kit for the 2007 Ford F-150 with 6.5 foot bed is # RP30035-426. If you want to go with a custom kit for an easier and quicker install, go with # RP50081-58....

  • 5th Wheel Base Rail Installation Kit for a 2005 Ford F-150 with a 5-1/2 Bed
Out of the base rail kits that we have for your 2005 Ford F-150 I recommend going with the semi-custom install kit # RP30035-426 or the custom install kit # RP50081-58. Since they are fairly similar in price the custom option is the better way to go since it is easier to install but it will not fit with a Flareside or Stepside bed. Since your truck has a 5-1/2 foot bed you would not be able to lock out your Sidewinder and use it like a standard pin box as the nose of the trailer would hit the cab of the truck around corners. You really need the additional turning clearance that the Sidewinder provides. It's possible you are using the wrong wedge with your current hitch and that's why it's hard to connect to your trailer. If you let me know what hitch you have I can verify for you the correct wedge. The Superglide...

  • What Should be the Distance Between Reese Base Rails and Rear of Box on 2014 Ford F-150 ?
The Reese Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP30035-426 does not have a length it needs to be from the the cab to the edge of the base rails. Instead, as per the linked instructions, there needs to be 29-5/16" inches from the rear edge of your 2014 F-150's truck bed to the rear edge of the base rail. This will allow you to mount your Curt Sliding Fifth Wheel such as # C95DR, which is a sliding fifth wheel and what you would need if your F-150 had a bed that was less than 8 feet.
