Installation

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located along the frame rail at the rear of your vehicle. The exact location of the port will vary depending on the make, model, and year of your vehicle. Once you've plugged in the connectors, insert the included fuse into the in-line fuse holder.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

2016 Hyundai Santa Fe

It worked perfectly for my 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe that HAS the trailer package. I think that package was an option and may not be on every vehicle. It plugged right in to the wiring harness under the driver's side of the car at the back of the vehicle. You have to remove the plastic panel next to where the trailer hitch mounts. It worked perfectly first time, and it saved a ton of time. Well worth it.

The harness still works great after a year. Very happy with it.

Plug & play for 2020 Kia Sorento. Dinged a star because the trailer connector does not fit the extra bracket well. It does not appear to have been designed for a bracket mount. I had to force fit and secure in place with a zip tie.

I was very happy with etrailer.com The items were delivered in 3 days. The wire harness was an easy plug and play. And mounted nicely to the hitch wit items the short mounting bracket and 4-Pole mounting bracket.

Quick and easy installation on my wife’s 2018 Santa Fe Sport Ultimate 2.0T with factory Tow Prep package. I did this as part of installing a Curt hitch, and it was an easy plug and play connection, then just tuck the wiring away and secure with cable ties. Couldn’t be easier! I also installed the “ 4-Flat Universal Mounting Bracket” from etrailer, and it ties the installation together nicely and looks very tidy like a factory installation (I’ve always thought dangling trailer wiring looked sloppy).

Great experience from start to finish. Quick delivery. Perfect fit and easy to install within 30 minutes. Routing the wire harness was a bit challenging but it also was a perfect fit. I only have one picture but you can't see the hitch since it is behind the center panel which is exactly what I wanted.

2017 Hyundai Santa Fe

I recently bought the Curt receiver (p/n C13153) and Tekonsha 4-pin harness (p/n 118269) for use on our new 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited Ultimate. We use the hitch to tow a small utility trailer occasionally, and more often use it with a hitch-mounted bike rack. I also ordered a mounting bracket kit and companion adapter plate since I had hoped to have the 4-pin connector mounted to the hitch (v. just zip-tied, etc). For installation of the receiver I dropped the spare tire since it is easy and helps for maneuvering the receiver into place. I did not lower the exhaust. I cleaned the tapped holes in the frame with a spray lube and wire brush prior to mounting, and I think this is a necessary step since a couple of the holes were pretty gunked-up. I checked by running the M10 screws in prior to putting the hitch in place, which I also recommend. I did not have a 2nd person available to help put the receiver in place to install but I had success using a floor jack and a piece of 2x6 to lift the receiver into place and start all the screws. It took a little patience to maneuver past the exhaust but really the fitment of the hitch is very good and it wasn't a bad struggle. A helper is probably the best way to go. As others have said, the videos provided by etrailer.com are really helpful. I finished the hitch installation by torqueing the screws and installing and torqueing the carriage bolts. It is a bit of a job (at least for me) to get the proper torque for the carriage bolts when laying on my back like that, but the overall connection seems super-secure. The spare tire did not interfere with the receiver after installation, though as you'd expect the clearance is small. After the receiver was done I installed the wiring harness. Once again, the video was really helpful and everything went quite smoothly. I found I needed to supply a few of my own zip-ties to secure the wiring to both the hitch and the factory wiring bundle since the provided ones were too short. After this I attempted to mount the 4-pin mounting plate to the hitch but I could not find an orientation that I was happy with and which would not interfere with the removable trim cover for the hitch. On the other hand, I found I was satisfied with leaving the 4-pin connector hooked to the check-chain hole in the receiver, so that is how I will leave it. After finishing the installation I hooked up our trailer. I found that there is a good amount of space in the check-chain openings, at least for our trailer, and the wiring connection (trailer lights) worked perfectly. When I went to install our bike rack I was a little concerned about the space around the hitch hole for the head of the bolt, but when I installed the hitch and anti-rattle bolt the fit was fine. Overall I'm quite happy with the hitch and wiring harness and I'm looking forward to many years of use. As always, etrailer.com was great to deal with and I would always recommend them to anyone looking for towing equipment and accessories.

This is my second hitch I purchased and installed. Both were great and the instructions for installing were spot on. My only complaint is that it is disappointing that the hitches do not have a nice integrated trailer light hook up. It’s a crappy bolt on or zip strip unsturdy light hook up. It doesn’t look nice after installed. And are very flimsy.

Kia

Kia dealer installed the original 4 way flat trailer wiring 2 years ago. The tester showed 2 dim lights before I ever used it. Disregarded the dim lights and added the ignition 12V and brakes control wires to a 7 way Bargman connector. I had running lights without anything on which worked only 2 times. Then no right brake or signal flash. Removed the factory Kia 4 way flat and observed no fuse! THEN I ordered the eTrailer equivalent WITH a 15 amp fuse. The tester looked good with no lights initially then the brake, running and turn lights tested fine. Hooked up and tested fine also. Happy customer!

2014 Hyundai Santa Fe

I bought this converter kit since I was adding a hitch to my 2014 Santa Fe. My Hyundai came from factory with the towing setup and the plugs for this were already present. The installation was pretty much cut and dry. The price I paid for this kit was much less than what [vehicle manufacturer] wanted for theirs and they even look identical. I have the light output plug connected to a 4 pin to 7 pin converter since I pull a popup camper and a 12' enclosed trailer. So far I have not had any issues and I do not for see anything going wrong with this kit.

Comments
This converter kit is still functioning perfectly! I have not had any issues and my lights work as they should everytime.

You are all amazing. You sent a great product and you made it so easy to follow. Unfortunately for me...when I pulled down the panel under the car to connect the wiring...my Kia did not have one there to connect to. I will have to take it to the dealer for them to locate where it actually is.

Plug and Play on my 2014 Kia Sorento. Plugs right in to the factory pre-wired harness plugs located under a cover behind the left rear wheel. Mounted the electronic box underneath also with a little silicon adhesive on the back. Easy install. Cable tied the rest of the wiring in the bundle as you can see. Fast easy ordering and shipping as always. It's nice to click on the link in the email they send and go right to the tracking page with the map that shows progress and the details as well. Some sites make you log in again for the same information. Not a big deal, but as you know it's the summation of all the little things done well that make for a good purchase experience.

Received my Curt custom hitch and wiring harness and had it installed in a hour. There was no need to drop the exhust, I just had to bend the bumper alignment pins down a little and lower the spare tire. The wiring harness was plug and use, so it just required zip ties to keep the wires up and off the exhust. I love the look and fitment very much. If I had anything negative to say. It would be that I wished the 4 pin wiring plug had a bracket to hold it instead of zip ties or just letting it hang. Which I will be buying one and installing it as well. But overall pretty happy with my purchase. Thanks

Third time I have used you in the past couple of years, Have not had a chance to install my latest purchase . Received my hitch in 4 days with wire package for trailer lites. Only negative was the box had worn through where the mounting plates are. Would recommend a few more securing tabs to keep the hitch secure in the box. You will be hearing from me on my next purchase. Your system for looking up items is very good and easy to use. Thanks again for a good experience.

After Katherine B sorted out which wiring harness I needed for my 2019 KIA Sorento Ex (which neither the KIA factory or local KIA dealer could tell me) the rest was easy! I watched etrailers installation video just to make sure I did it properly and used the tester to double check all the lights functioned. etrailer customer service is second to none, thanks for your patience and help!

  • How to Determine if 2019 Kia Sorento Had Tow Package for Trailer Wiring
Since your 2019 Kia Sorento is brand new you probably have the window sticker still. On the window sticker it will be listed whether you have the tow package or not. Or you can contact a Kia dealer and give them your VIN and they'll be able to tell you. If you do have it the trailer wiring you'd want is the part # 118269 which installs easily. Or if you do not have it the part # 118583 is what you'd need. This actually fits whether you have the package or not due to how it installs.

Yes, the way you determine if you have the factory trailer harness is to check along the frame rail at the rear of your vehicle, if you locate a plug and play connection that means you have the factory harness. (see picture). If you don't have the factory connection, you will have to remove the rear scuff panel and interior side panels to access this harness. (see picture with red and white in the background). I have videos attached to this article that will show wiring your Santa Fe...

  • 4-Pole Wiring Harness for 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Turbo AWD
If you can confirm with your dealership that your 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 Turbo AWD DOES have the factory tow package then you will use Tekonsha 4-pole harness kit # 118269. But if you don't have it, or if you just don't even want to bother to find out, you can still always use the kit for the version without the tow package since it will still fit and work fine. Tekonsha 4-pole Kit # 118571 will work on either version but its installation will be a little more involved than...

  • How to Add a 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe
You will need a few different items to add a 7-way trailer connector to your 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe because Hyundai did not offer a factory connection for a 7-way trailer connector, only for a 4-way. If your Santa Fe was pre-wired for the factory tow package, then the first item that you will want is the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118269. This will add a 4-way flat trailer connector. I have attached an installation video for you to check out. Next, you will need our Universal...

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe with Factory Tow Package
For your 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe with the factory tow package I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118269. This particular harness features a higher amp rating than the other options available for your vehicle and Tekonsha is well known for producing reliable and long-lasting wiring products. The custom harness will install by simply plugging into a factory port located along the frame rear at the rear of the vehicle (see attached image). It will provide you with a...

  • Parts Needed to Install 7-Way on 2017 Kia Sedona
To install a 7-way on your 2017 Kia Sedona first requires you to install a 4-way like the Tekonsha kit part # 118269 which is a confirmed, custom fit for your vehicle. Then to convert it to a 7-way for just the taillight functions (since you don't have trailer brakes or reverse lights), all you need is the adapter part # 37185. It has a 4-way that would plug right into the # 118269 and you'd be set. You'd use the included bracket to attach the 7-way to the lower portion of your vehicle...
