Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located at the rear of your vehicle, slightly toward the driver's side.

Once installation is complete, the connectors will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket is included to keep the connectors secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole and 4-pole connectors - to help prevent corrosion.

Vehicle Wiring

Note: Refer to the diagram above to determine if this harness will fit your application. The plugs on your vehicle must have 5 terminals on one side and 2 on the other. If your vehicle has 3 terminals on one side and 4 on the other, you will need wiring harness HM43385 instead.

Minor mod to the mounting but the plugs fit right in and everything worked great

Toyota Tundra

This wiring kit feels cheap, but that’s why I came to Etrailer - Toyota wanted $500 +.
I put this on a Toyota Tundra and the wiring matched as should, I drilled the mounting bracket to match Toyota instead of clamping it to the hitch. Overall, it worked as should. I’ve only pulled a couple trailers with it, but was pleased it worked well. It did get some moisture in it though while pulling in rain. Not sure why, but I’m not going to say it was because of this plug, as there were a few other variables. You get what you pay for, but I am pleased mostly that I didn’t have to spend $500.

Still works after a year. It is not OEM replacement, but it does the job. Have put a few thousand miles of traveling with the 7 pin and the 5 pin, both work as should. No problems.

by:

Bought it for my 2007 tundra trd sr5 with the tow haul package. Plug and play just like the team said. Had to drill out the holes for the mounting bracket a little and straighten the bracket as well but very happy with my purchase nonetheless and will definitely come back here if I need more parts.

by:
2007 Toyota Tundra

Fits my 2007 Tundra SR5 perfectly. I did not buy this as a replacement but instead an addition. My tundra was purchased without the tow kit; however, the factory left harness in and all I had to do was plug this in (check to see if yours is already there). Saved me a bunch of money as Toyota wanted over 200$ for this part... Not to mention the "labor cost." I mounted it differently because of the Hitch I bought. I used this:

Here is a link to the bracket Rick used to mount this 7-Way.

by:

It was an exact match and fit without issues.
I
have been using it all summer.
Thank you.

by:

Works great. I cut a hole in my rear bumper and mounted it there. It used to be mounted below the bumper and kept being hit and bent went I went anywhere off-road. Now I'll have to tear off the bumper before I can damage it ;-)

The connector is still working great and by moving it to the bumper it is more convenient to use and safe from being whacked when off-roading.

2010 Toyota Tundra

Quality plug, and a perfect fit for the factory trailer wire connectors on my 2010 Tundra. I had to bend the mounting brackets a bit to get the plug to clear my Curt XD hitch, but the result is sturdy and looks good. etrailer was great to work with -- shipping was prompt, updates and tracking info was provided, and the item was as described.

by:

These plugs worked great on my 2010 Toyota Tundra. I was having problems with running lights on my trailers not working on my stock plugs but once I installed the new plugs I have had no issues. Also I moved the plug location to up beside the license plate like many of the newer trucks on the market today. I would and have recommended these plugs to others.

by:
2008 Toyota Tundra

Impressed by this. The plugs matched the OEM connection perfectly. I am impressed. I relocated the broken OEM trailer plug to next to the license plate. I never liked how trailer plugs have historically been located on or near the reciever.

Would definitely recommend.

by:

Needed Oem replacement for my Tundra traile connector and this almost fit like a glove/ no complaints. I do wish it was more “metal” vs plastics but it is what it is and overall it connected perfectly and the wires are a little stiff to work on the hitch; but all is good.

by:

Product was easy to install. I actually installed it through the bumper so that I could not crush it AGAIN. With minor fabricating I had the old one out and the new one in within 25 minutes. Couldn't have been easier. Super fast delivery too!

Perfect ..... Fast shipping also. Moved location of outlets from below the bumper.

Works perfectly...

by:

Great product and much more affordable than OEM. Removing the left license plate light makes for a great alternative spot for your trailer connection. The chance of hitting it on a big rock again is gone. Lots of room behind for the wire bundle.

by:

It went on easily. Product was perfect.

by:
2007 Toyota Tundra

Install was easy, great product and fast delivery. I adjusted the mounting bracket to fit the way I wanted it to look but other than that I would recommend to others.

by:

Installed a year ago. Still working good at a fraction of dealership prices. Would definitely buy again

by:
2008 Toyota Tundra

No problem installing and the connectors hooked right up to my truck and it works perfectly!!!!! Thank you etrailer for an awesome product and an unbelievable price!

by:

The bracket is not a match- has to be drilled to fit. Cheap hardware in kit, otherwise a good product for the price

by:

Plugged right in to the connectors. I didn’t use the bracket I wanted to get it up higher so I bumper set it. So far great purchase.

by:

Works excellent, easy to install, fast shipping, would definitely buy from etrailer again

by:

Perfect plug and play!!

2008 Toyota Tundra

I received my Hopkins wiring harness and day before the estimated delivery date. The kit itself was very easy to install. I did need to slightly modify the mounting bracket to match up the factory mount on my 2008 Tundra. Installation took all of 20 minutes. That's from removal of the old to the install of the new (including securing the wires from rubbing on the frame with a couple ties). Very good replacement piece.

Thanks etrailer.com

After a year of use there are no issues with the harness or its use. This was and is a good product and I am very happy with it! Thanks etrailer.

2008 Toyota Tundra

My truck: 2007 Tundra, double cab, SR5, build date 8/07 with factory tow package and wiring.

The OEM trailer cord has two plugs which hook to my truck with a 2 prong and 5 prong connectors. The Hopkins HM11143395 which has this configuration is listed for a 2008 Tundra. A Hopkins 43385 is listed for the 2003 to 2007 Tundra. This cord has a 3 prong and a 4 prong arrangement.

I think Toyota did a running changeover on the OEM trailer cord plug and hence that is why my truck requires the HM11143395. So buyer be aware. Check your connector plugs before ordering.

HM11143395's bracket needed to be altered to mount to my truck. Everything is installed and checked with a meter but have not hooked it up to a trailer yet. Do not foresee any problems.

Just an update with my 2007 Tundra, double cab, SR5, build date 807. I did install the HM11143395 as noted above . I have hooked the truck up to six different trailers and the lights all work properly.I also see etrailer added a video on the running change by Toyota on the 2007 Tundra.

2008 Toyota Tundra

Electrical connector had all the parts and installed OK albeit with some modification as noted below.

Getting the old connector off the 2008 Toyota Tundra pickup was the usual difficulty in figuring out how the electrical connectors disengaged and then getting the electrical connector mount off the pickup in one piece. I think the whole installation took 45 minutes which would have been a lot less the 2nd time around.

The only issues I had with the product was that my Tundra had a vertical mounting plate so I had to bend the horizontal mounting plate from horizontal to vertical - a little work with a vice grip and a vice. Also the mounting holes were not the correct separation so I had to drill a new in the mounting plate in the picture.

Provided that your 2009 Toyota Tundra has a factory 7-Way trailer wiring harness at the rear of the truck, you can use 5th Wheel and Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with 7-Pole Connector, # 51-97-412. This harness is designed specifically to be mounted in the bed of the truck for 5th wheel or gooseneck trailers and connect in line with the factory wiring on your truck.
