Specs:

  • Bracket height:
    • Retracted: 10-3/4"
    • Extended: 28-3/4"
  • Lift: 18"
  • Outer tube diameter: 2-1/4"
  • Inner tube diameter: 2"
  • Footplate diameter: 5-1/2"
  • Motor voltage: 12 volts
    • Power consumption: 30 amps
  • Lift capacity: 3,500 lbs
  • 1-Year limited warranty

This jack will take the work out of lifting and lowering your trailer. The 30-amp motor ensures trouble-free operation and consistent power with the flip of a switch - no need for a crank. It also has helical-cut gears, which have angled teeth that mesh together clearly. This allows for quieter, more efficient operation than a jack that uses a standard Acme screw.

To ensure great performance even at night, this jack also comes with a front-facing light that houses 3 LEDs. The light is directed at a downward angle allowing for easy deployment and retraction of the jack in low-light settings. The unit also comes with a manual crank handle in case you lose power.

This jack can be bolted or welded onto your A-frame coupler, or it can sit in a brace behind the coupler. As with other Lippert jacks, it is constructed of powder coated steel to ensure that it will resist rust and corrosion and hold up well to the elements. The housing on the jack protects the internal components, and it has a durable, UV-resistant coating that resists chips, cracks, and fading.

You always want to be sure when purchasing a tongue jack that the jack capacity at least matches your trailer's tongue weight (TW). Your trailer's TW should be around 10 percent to 15 percent of your gross trailer weight (GTW), which is the weight of your trailer when it's fully loaded. So if you have a 5,000-lb trailer you would want a jack that can support at least 500 lbs to 750 lbs.

Video Transcript for Lippert Components Camper Jack - A-Frame Jack - LC285318 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Lippert Components power tongue jack. This power tongue jack raises and lowers RV's, 5th wheels, and all types of trailers. Really helps save time and energy instead of cranking a manually operated jack. This is going to have a capacity of 3,500 pounds. It's going to provide an 18" stroke or lift. The black color is going to match most trailers, it's going to match most applications, and it's a really nice steel construction. Nice durable design, it's going to have a powder coated finish on the outer tube and then a zinc plated finish on the inner tube and the foot plate, that's really going to help protect the unit from rust and corrosion. Right here, you're going to have an LED light panel.

This is going to make it easier to work in the dark or low light conditions. It's going to cast light at a downward angle so that way you can really see what you're doing when you're working in the area around the jack, so coupling or disconnecting, connecting, whatever it may be. Located right here's going to be the control panel. It's going to feature enhanced rocker switches, it's going to improve durability. One control is going to extend and retract the jack. The other control right here is going to turn on and turn off the LED light source. The unit's going to feature helical cut gears that's going to help reduce noise and improve the overall operation of the jack.

In the housing right here at the head, that's going to have a nice durable, textured casing that's really going to help prevent chips and cracks. It's also going to offer increased UV protection to keep the housing from fading. It does come with the removable foot plate so that can easily be taken off; that's just held on to that inner tube with a standard pin and clip. The foot plate is going to help spread out the applied weight. It's even going to help on softer surfaces to prevent sinking. That foot plate has a diameter of 5 1/2" and the unit's also going to come with a manual crank handle, nice design there, that way if you ever run into an emergency situation where you need to manually operate the jack, you can easily do so. To gain access to the area where the crank handle would connect, that's going to be this plug right here on top.

I find it easiest to push in the middle and that's going to prop up one edge. Then you can just pull that out and that's going to gain access to the connection point for the crank handle. This is a weather tight seal, so you put that back in and you just push it back down. That's going to create a nice tight seal, ensuring that things don't get in to that area and cause rust and corrosion. It's going to do a good job at keeping out moisture.

It's going to do a good job at keeping out dirt and grime. Really nice tight design, all you've got to do is get everything lined up, push it back down, and again that's going to create a a really nice tight seal. This is going to run off of 12-volt DC power. It has a max draw of 30 AMPs. It does come with a 30 AMP fuse; it's in the fuse holder right here on the power wire. Single wire design for power, the unit's going to ground through the mounting hardware. It's a bolt-on installation, mounting hardware is included. It's easily going to bolt to standard A-frame trailers. This is going to be 3/8" diameter bolts so again, mounting hardware is included. Nice mounting plate right there as well with the holes already pre-drilled for it. When it comes to the inner tube diameter, that's going to measure 2". Outer tube diameter is 2 1/4". Again, the capacity on the jack is 3,500 pounds. It's going to provide an 18" stroke or 18" lift. A few measurements I just want to mention for you real quick before I show you how the jack operates, right now it's in the fully retracted position. The bracket height, I measured from the bottom of the bracket to the ground with the jack in the fully retracted position. With the footplate installed that gave us a measurement of 10 3/4". Without the footplate installed is 9". I also extended the jack as high as it would go, fully extended, and in that same measurement from the ground to the bottom of the mounting plate was 28 3/4" with the footplate installed; 27" without the footplate installed. From the bottom of the mounting bracket to the very top of the jack measured around 21 1/2". It really does offer nice operation. It's a very well-made jack. I'm going to hook it up to power, that way we can see exactly how it operates, how it functions. That's just our power wire and I'm simply making a ground connection here. This switch right here is going to control the on and off functions of the light. You just got to get a good ground connection and then you'll see how that kicks on. I can turn off the overhead lights so you can see it in a lower light setting. You can see that that casts light at a downward angle, which is really going to help illuminate the work area around the jack; especially in low light conditions or at night time. When you're ready to operate the jack, you've got the extend and retract button right here. It's fully retracted right now so if we want to extend it, all you have to do is push down. Really nice, quiet operation and again, that's going to provide 18" of lift. Retracts very easily as well and again, those helical cut gears is going to help cut down the amount of noise that you have with this jack. It's also going to provide for just overall better performance and smoother operation. That's going to do it for today's look at the Lippert Components power tongue jack.

It will be a while before I can install. Winter storm coming. The order was filled in a timely manner and I relied on the company from a previous order for a brake controller/cable to fit my Jeep Grand Cherokee. The factory packaging however, was insufficient to restrain and prevent the triangular mounting flange on the lower end from punching through the cardboard packaging. The result was minor scratching and removal of paint on a corner tip of the flange. There was no evidence of anything in the package to restrain the lower end from traveling vertically up and down toward the area where it punched through. So..I'd blame it on Lippert for insufficient product package restraints. 487691

The Jack initially worked fine with the exception of the LED light. I reported my trouble shooting information to etrailer pinpointing the LED board. You were able to have a new board sent to me for replacement and everything worked well all summer after the replacement. The technical guidance you provided on how to open and access the case was first rate, but in this case, I needed to buy a longer screwdriver for the deeply recessed screws.

Well, thanks for following up with me. I haven't installed the jack yet but will in a few days. I have noticed that the instruction sheet is not very helpful especially when you need to know the gauge of wire to that you can buy the right connector. It look so be 8-10 gauge. Also, in my set up, the length of wire provided is too short. So am going to have to splice a and additional piece in to reach my junction box. Do you have any suggestions on the best way to do that? It will be an easy install my problem is that I have removed the batteries for winter storage and the only way I can test the unit once installed is by hooking up the electricity. Hard to do when your RV in covered for the winter. I am waiting for a warmer day to do that. Anyway, thought that you would to know. Only a 3 for now but I would expect to change that to 5 once I have the wiring situation figured out. I'll let you know. 469665

Thank you for your review. Typically the powered jacks are wired straight to the battery but wiring it to the junction box will work. You would need a 10 gauge wire such as part # 10-1-1
10 Gauge Primary Wire - Blue - per Foot
$0.86
and heat shrink butt connectors such as part # DW05745-10
Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 12-10 Gauge - Nylon Insulation - Yellow - Qty 10
$7.96
. I am not sure what connections you have on your junction box but we do have ring terminals you could use. Such as part # 44-5310A
Ring Terminal - 12-10 Gauge Wire - 3/16" Ring ID
$0.42
or part # DW05705-1
Ring Terminal - 12-10 Gauge Wire - 3/8" Ring ID
$1.49
. I hope this helps.

The product worked as advertised and I am completely satisfied with it. Winter is harsh here in Utah so we will see how it goes when we pull out the trailer and start camping again. I do not expect that we will have issues but if we do I will let you know.

My husband was able to install this tongue jack by himself within just a few minutes. It was quite literally take the old one off and pop the new one in and attach it to the battery. He said it took longer to take the manual jack off than it did to install the electric jack. The price from etrailer was much less than our local camper dealership was asking for a like product. 410452

well I have taken numerous camping trips with this jack and so far I am very pleased. one note is that if you don't have a dedicated ground wire you will need to make one on the camper or the jack will not operate. I figured that out right off the bat. It does move fairly slow, but hey I guess you don't want it moving too fast or you could over shoot your limits that can make the jack blow the 30 amp fuse. Yes I would highly recommend this jack. I have noticed that this jack is installed on a lot of brand new campers at the factory, so it must be a good jack. Highly recommend!!! 505078

While I researched the large selection of trailer jacks on etrailer before making my purchase, what I tended to see (by a LARGE margin) at RV campgrounds was this product. So I bought it....quick shipping and super easy installation...in time for our latest camping adventure. It worked flawlessly on our Minnie and was a nice change from having to manually lift and lower my RV off/on my truck tow ball. I really liked the gearing as it was the perfect operating speed for me. 720885

If you don't already have one, you'll want to purchase a Protective Cover, # UF38-944020, to keep your jack dry when you are at the campsite. This will protect the head of the jack and keep the motor protected from the elements.

  • Recommended Electric A-Frame Jack for 2006 Eclipse Attitude 21AK Travel Trailer
When selecting a powered tongue jack for a travel trailer like your 2006 Eclipse Attitude 21AK it is best to over-spec the jack, meaning to select one that has more weight capacity than you absolutely need for the trailer. The Attitude 21AK has a specified weight of 6100-lbs so I suggest a tongue jack rated for 3500-lbs. This will let the jack work less hard to do the lifting it needs to do and that tends to help such items last longer. If value is a key factor in your decision go for...

Yes, the Lippert electric A-frame trailer jack # LC285318 does replace the 181794 jacks. The bolt pattern will be the same for mounting the jack and the outer tube diameter is 2-1/4 inches on both jacks. I have linked a video review of this jack for you.

  • Replacement 3500-lb Electric Tongue Jack for Lippert 1817941
Lippert does not offer a replacement inner jack tube for their jack 1817941. When a jack is damaged in this way (which is more common than you want to know) it really is best to replace the entire jack for safety reasons. The outer tube on your jack may indeed appear to be perfect but could have hidden damage/stress. The equivalent current replacement jack for yours is part # LC285318.

  • Replacement Nut Availability for Lippert Trailer Jack 1817941
I reached out to my contact at Lippert who said that unfortunately the nut for your 1817941 is not a replaceable part so you will need to replace the entire jack assembly itself. The current version of the 1817941 is the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack # LC285318. I have attached a review video for you to reference as well.

  • Torque Specification for Attaching Lippert A-Frame Electric Trailer Jack to Trailer
I spoke with my contact at Lippert regarding the Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate # LC285318 referenced in your question. For this jack they recommend 26 ft lbs of torque for the hardware that will hold the jack to your trailer. This is a very nice electric A-frame jack that will provide a total lift of 18 inches and a 3,500 pound weight capacity. LED lights will illuminate at a downward angle so you can focus on your coupler. It has an outer tube diameter of 2-1/4 inches and a retracted...

  • Electric Trailer Jack Makes a Spark Sound Inside when Trying to Raise or Lower the Jack
Are you using Lippert jack # LC285318? Because it only has 1 wire. It is possible that, if you have a jack with two wires, the positive and negative wires were switched. You could also have a bad switch or some other component on the inside has failed. It could also be an internal fuse or circuit breaker that has blown/tripped. This would mean there is either a short or the jack is trying to draw too much power because the battery it is connected to is bad or depleted. If the wires were...

  • Lippert Electric Trailer Tongue Jack is Not Working Electrically or Manually
If your electric jack isn't even letting you utilize it manually then it is best to get a new jack. Even if you were to find the exact part that needs to be repaired odds are you would need to start replacing more parts as well. To save yourself from having to complete multiple sessions of troubleshooting and getting inside the jack I recommend just purchasing a new jack. We do have the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate # LC285318 that fits A-Frame trailers, has an 18...
