Troubleshooting BAL 5.1 Stabilizer Jack System Not Moving Up or Down Manually

Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 08/02/2025

Question:

I have the BAL 5.1 5 rv stabilizer jack stuck in the down position. I tried to manually override by using the crank but it won’t budge either way. There is no pressure on the Jack. Please advise. Thank you! I’ve taken the leg apart and secured it but can’t I crank it?

Hey Steven, thanks for reaching out!

I was able to find the user manual online for your BAL 5.1 Stabilizing System and according to the troubleshooting steps it sounds like you need a new coupler that sits between your motor and the drive screw. This is part 21700072 and you'll need to get it from BAL directly.

Here is the contact us page for BAL - https://balrvproducts.com/contact/

Hey Steven, did you manage to get the new coupler from BAL and fix your stabilizer jack? I'm asking because your experience could really help others facing the same issue.

@JonG Unfortunately the problem is the motor seized up. I’m told it was over torqued. It will have to go back to the service department for warranty repair. Thanks for always providing good info. Steve

@StevenW Sorry to hear that! But I'm glad you're able to get it in for warranty repair - at least now you're able to put that issue to rest.
