Specs:
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Today we're going to take a look at the Titan Weld-On Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes. As a coupler, it's a 2 5/16" diameter hitch ball and has a 20,000 pound weight capacity. This hydraulic actuator will synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow vehicle brakes. It does use a unique roller design to reduce resistance during telescoping to help create straight line movement. You can see the rollers right here and down here. If you notice, on all those rollers, they do put a grease Zerk fitting for lubricating the rollers. This is a sturdy, durable steel construction which will resist bending in jackknife situations.
It's a standard, heavy-duty coupler, has the easy opening ring latch right here. If you just pull up on, that will release it, attached to your hitch ball. When you let it go in, it will lock back into place. It does have a breakaway kit that's all included. That would be the chain here that connects to the breakaway lever, so you can see this chain with the hook on the end.
This hook will connect to your tow vehicle, so then if by chance, your trailer would happen to detach from your tow vehicle, it would pull on this chain, which would pull the breakaway lever and cause the brakes to lock up on the trailer to prevent a runaway situation. It is all in a primed finish, it is a weld-on installation. A few specs on this, this application is for disc brakes. The ball size, again, that it fits on is 2 5/16" diameter. It is designed to mount onto a 3" wide channel tongue and the weight capacity is 20,000 pounds, maximum towing weight capacity is 2,000 pounds. One last note, I do want to mention on this, is this does not include a reverse lockout, which is usually a solenoid that's attached to the master cylinder back there. Because it does not have that reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free backing brakes, so that you can drive it in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer brakes.
That should do it for the review on the Titan Weld-On Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes. It's a 2 5/16" hitch ball and has a 20,000 pound weight capacity.
