This roller assembly supports your boat's keel for easy loading and safe transport on your trailer. It features a 4-inch, black rubber spool roller and a galvanized steel panel bracket with slotted mounting holes for adjustability.

Typically installed upright on the front crossmember of a boat trailer, a spool roller panel bracket assembly helps to keep the boat moving while it is being loaded and to stabilize the keel.


Galvanized Steel

Galvanized steel parts are hot-dipped in zinc after being stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

    I may have a solution or you, but we do not have any spool rollers with a metal roller. Instead you might be able to use a fairlead from a winch like the part # BDW20055 as that basically is a roller setup with a metal roller.

  • What is the Inside Width of the Roller in CE Smith 4-Inch Spool Roller Assembly
    I went out to the warehouse and pulled spool roller assembly # CE10400G to measure the inside width for you. The inside width is 1-3/4 inches so it will not work for you. Instead you will need a 5 inch assembly such as # CE32150G or # CE10451G. Please note that the rollers are not tested for use with a winch so I can't say whether or not it would work for that application.

    As shown in the brief video and photo that I have prepared for you, the height of the rubber spool roller's center portion above the bottom of the frame on the CE Smith Spool Roller Assembly # CE10400G is 8-inches to the center of the roller and 8-3/4-inches to the sides of the roller. Mounting hardware, either 7/16-inch or 1/2-inch bolts, is not included with the assembly. I have also linked a review video that summarizes the features of this item.

    I have a solution for you, but since the center to center space of the mounting slots on the CE Smith Deep V Keel Roller, 5 Inches # CE10401G measures 3 inches, the roller will not mount to your 3 inch wide trailer frame. There will not be enough room to attach the roller bracket to the frame. Instead, I recommend using the CE Smith Spool Roller Assembly for Boat Trailers, 4 Inches # CE10400G. This roller's mounting slots are 2 inches apart on center, which will give you sufficient room...

    For your 1986 ski Nautique 2001, I recommend the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch item # DL15440. It looks like your boat weighs 2,400 lbs dry and is almost 19' long so this 2-speed 3,200 lbs winch would work perfect. I'm not sure if you're using carpeted bunks or roller bunks but the item # DL15440 has plenty of capacity to work with both. You'll also need the Hand Winch Strap with Safety Hook, 2" Wide x 20' Long - 4,000 lbs. item # DL24242. We do not have a complete rubber bumper assembly....

    I went to our warehouse and measured the CE Smith Deep V Keel Roller Assembly, part # CE10401G. The roller bracket measures 5-1/2 inches wide. The width of the roller pin with the caps on is 6-1/4 inches. This roller assembly will not fit in the 5-inch opening you said you have. I recommend you go with the 4 inch roller, part # CE10400G. The # CE10400G bracket measures 4-1/2 inches wide and is 6 inches long.
