If you own a boat, you've heard those stories about your motor just going missing. It's very easy to do. All you gotta do is loosen these little ties here and take it off. So, Trimax Outboard Motor Lock is going to give you more peace of mind. What this is gonna do, it's gonna slide over these little screw parts right here. Notice where the lock is on one end.
We're gonna go up and over. And it fits in just like that because of our little slots back here. So we're gonna fit that over there, adjust it to where we want it, lock cores over here so we're gonna take this part, go up in here. Kind of squeeze it together and then lock it up. That is a little difficult on mine just because the lock's facing down but, once it's on there, it's just gonna be one extra thing that they're gonna have to do to take your motor.
At the end of the day, none of these locks are gonna be completely perfect. You just wanna be the one that has locks on your boat so, if someone's looking to steal something, they're not gonna mess with yours. It's gonna deter them away to someone else's. Our whole entire piece is made of steel. It does have a powder coated finish so it should resist against rust and corrosion, even if you are on the coast.
let's just see the overall length of it. That's about 12 inches. Just make sure you have enough space. And then, also, just figure out your two little mounting points for your motor from one of them to the very end. The max spread is gonna be about eight and three quarters of an inch, and then the minimum's gonna be four and a quarter inches.
And this is why those measurements are important. right now, ours is right at the max. So definitely take that measurement from outside of one to the outside of the other. And we do want this to be up on top, and the reason for that is because the holes on the bottom is gonna let that water drain out if it's left outside without a cover. If you don't have a cover to cover your boat we do have some on our website. We have a rubber seal on the top just to make sure water doesn't get in the core. We do have two keys that come with it. There's also some foam pieces right here, that'll go in right about here, which, that's just gonna prevent any of that noise and rattling whenever you're going down the road. So you can use that to kind of quiet it down a little bit, Put everything in, and lock it on up. Now with that foam in place, it's nice and solid and we don't hear any rattling or anything. The less movement, the harder it's gonna be for them to get it off. But for all the locks you can get for an outboard motor, I think this is pretty solid..

starting to rust a little after 3 months and getting the key in was a little hard. Maybe they could put a flip cap on to protect it from salt. Overall it’s pretty good and a good price.
After one winter of use the lock unit is rusty and the paint is peeling. Removed the lock and am using an alternate lock system.
A great product to prevent theft of outboard motors!!!
2 of 3 items I ordered are what I expected, however, the motor lock needed some custom cutting with a cut-off tool to fit properly.
It took me a minute to get it into position but once in place, it definitely is a deterrent. As it appears to me it would be difficult and time consuming to defeat this lock.
Design allows for rattle lengthwise on 20 hp motor
